I'm going to need all the prayers I can get. Just had a phone call saying my quad scan came back showing high risk from Down syndrome and I feel like the world is coming apart.

*** repost *** Thanks for your prayers and words of encouragement. This caught me completely off guard. I was seen for the 1st time at the Ob at 15 weeks because that was the soonest they could get me in. I was worried about missing my 1st tri screening so I stopped by the office at 13 weeks to ask if I should be seen sooner and they asked the Dr. and told me he said that since I had PGS done I shouldn't worry about it. I had my first appointment with him and he didn't recommend any tests other than the anatomy scan. For my second appointment on Tuesday I saw the other Ob in the practice and she suggested the quad screen. I told her what the first Dr. said, she asked what they tested for with PGS (which made me feel she didn't know what PGS is) and I explained what I knew. I told her I wasn't sure about doing it because regardless of the result my decision wouldn't change and she said that even if I knew I would want to continue with the pregnancy it was good to know because it helps to prepare emotionally, find support groups etc so that made me go for it. In all honesty I had not researched about testing after I was told I didn't need them. Today she calls while I'm working and tells me that the test showed I'm at risk for Down syndrome, she said that it's a screening test, not a diagnostic one so we needed another test to confirm and that the anatomy scan also would give more info. I was shocked and asked how accurate the test is and she said 80%. That didn't sound encouraging. I was really shaken and left work, went to have blood drawn for a harmony test which they said would take about 2 weeks and managed to get them to do the scan. They found no markers, all the organs looked perfect. I love my baby so much and nothing would change that, but fear took over me. After getting the scan, and reading about the quad screen I'm more hopeful... hope I have enough strength to get through this. Hugs ...

yelllow22 - just because the bloodwork shows that you could be a carrier for that, doesn't mean your baby has it. I know they say there is like a 2-5% margin for error with PGS but the fact that your scan looks good and the baby looks health is a good sign. They would be able to measure the area around the neck to see if the baby does in fact have down syndrome. Will definitely be praying for your anatomy scan which I'm sure can't get here soon enough!

Today I will be stopping by a little chapel in St Augustine. My husband first went there after my egg retrieval, and brought me a cndle and a prayer book because someone told him about it which was so sweet because he is not very religious. The history of the place is that "in Spain, word spread of a woman and her baby, both expected to die during the birth of the child, who were spared as a result of the intercession of Nuestra Señora de La Leche y Buen Parto (Our Lady of the Milk and Happy Delivery)" and around the 1600's the place was built and now many people go there to pray for healthy pregnancies and babies, and the grouds are beautiful. I will pray for all of you as well

I found this really great 14 day Pregnancy Prayers on my Bible App on my phone.. it's just the free Holy Bible Ap and they offer reading plans or devotions. It's called "Pregnancy Prayers - Pray for your Baby" and each of the 14 days prays scripture over your baby and gives a few verses as well. I have found it really encouraging over the last few days. I'll probably go through it more than once before the baby gets here.

I love this thread! What a wonderful thing to see everyone encouraging each other and praying for each other. I am newly pregnant from our third round of IVF. I am 5 weeks 4 days. Two days ago I woke up in the middle of the night with cramping and bleeding. I thought for sure I was having a miscarriage but the bleeding stopped and my HCG was a perfect number. I go back again tomorrow for another HCG and then my first ultrasound 2 days after that. Yesterday I also had one episode of bleeding and now just brown spotting. I know that this can be totally normal but it is just so scary! Even before the bleeding I was scared about this being taken away from me, you can't help but fear that after waiting 3 years for it to happen. I am trying my best to give this all over to God and to trust Him and choose joy instead of fear, but I would LOVE your prayers for it all. For peace and for these babies (or baby, we don't know yet if it's one or two) to keep growing just as they are supposed to! Thank you

Well, I'm back at L&D tonight. I went into my doc around 2 pm to get a urine test, felt like I had an UTI. Did a test in the office, came back negative. when I told her that my BH contractions were much more frequent than before, I'd get sometimes 1 a day, I was getting them one an hour or so, she looked at me and said "hospital now, I wouldn't normally say that, but for you, go". So after further testing, I have no active infection but there are white bloood cells where there should not be. They are pumping me full of fluids and hopefully I can go home early in the morning. I made it 10 weeks with out an incident, now if I can make it ten more again we will be at 39 weeks and Can just go into labor, that would be good.

Hi girls! They sent me home late last night, just in time to see a few innings of the Cubs game!!
Feeling better today, they have me on antibiotics in case I do have an infection some where - white blood cells weren't where they are supposed to be. I've been told to increase my water intake as well, I am pretty sure I'll be floating away any minute now. Anybody else told to try to drink as many ounces as the weigh in pounds per day (which I am counting in 24 hour segments - so I'm planning to drink water every time I wake up to pee too - completely counter productive). I'm feeling good though, a little tired from the lack of sleep, but good. I've only had a very few light contractions today, so progress!

i'm starting to get worried though, everyone keeps saying I will be lucky to make it another month with the rate we have been going at. @vssbrm glad you were able to go home! I'm a big water drinker, but that seems excessive even to me. Are these doctors who are saying he might come out early? If not, I'd trust a medical opinion vs everyone else's. Hoping your LO continues to bake in there longer, at least until the new year!

When my doc first admitted me to the hospital on Tuesday she was thinking that he might actually show up this week. Then everything calmed down. She did have a quick talk with me that he may come any time, so i did get steroid shots to make sure his lungs are developing at an earlier pace. My nurse had a lot of the same things I have had going on with two of her girls and went early, she chatted for a while telling me about preterm birth. And then it's just family commenting. I guess it's better to be prepared for the idea that it might happen, but we are so not actually prepared for him to actually come early!! I'm glad our shower is next weekend!

Thanks for your prayers and words of encouragement. This caught me completely off guard. I was seen for the 1st time at the Ob at 15 weeks because that was the soonest they could get me in. I was worried about missing my 1st tri screening so I stopped by the office at 13 weeks to ask if I should be seen sooner and they asked the Dr. and told me he said that since I had PGS done I shouldn't worry about it. I had my first appointment with him and he didn't recommend any tests other than the anatomy scan.
For my second appointment on Tuesday I saw the other Ob in the practice and she suggested the quad screen. I told her what the first Dr. said, she asked what they tested for with PGS (which made me feel she didn't know what PGS is) and I explained what I knew. I told her I wasn't sure about doing it because regardless of the result my decision wouldn't change and she said that even if I knew I would want to continue with the pregnancy it was good to know because it helps to prepare emotionally, find support groups etc so that made me go for it. In all honesty I had not researched about testing after I was told I didn't need them.
Today she calls while I'm working and tells me that the test showed I'm at risk for Down syndrome, she said that it's a screening test, not a diagnostic one so we needed another test to confirm and that the anatomy scan also would give more info. I was shocked and asked how accurate the test is and she said 80%. That didn't sound encouraging.
I was really shaken and left work, went to have blood drawn for a harmony test which they said would take about 2 weeks and managed to get them to do the scan. They found no markers, all the organs looked perfect.
I love my baby so much and nothing would change that, but fear took over me. After getting the scan, and reading about the quad screen I'm more hopeful... hope I have enough strength to get through this.

Today I will be stopping by a little chapel in St Augustine. My husband first went there after my egg retrieval, and brought me a cndle and a prayer book because someone told him about it which was so sweet because he is not very religious. The history of the place is that "in Spain, word spread of a woman and her baby, both expected to die during the birth of the child, who were spared as a result of the intercession of Nuestra Señora de La Leche y Buen Parto (Our Lady of the Milk and Happy Delivery)" and around the 1600's the place was built and now many people go there to pray for healthy pregnancies and babies, and the grouds are beautiful. I will pray for all of you as well

Feeling better today, they have me on antibiotics in case I do have an infection some where - white blood cells weren't where they are supposed to be. I've been told to increase my water intake as well, I am pretty sure I'll be floating away any minute now. Anybody else told to try to drink as many ounces as the weigh in pounds per day (which I am counting in 24 hour segments - so I'm planning to drink water every time I wake up to pee too - completely counter productive). I'm feeling good though, a little tired from the lack of sleep, but good. I've only had a very few light contractions today, so progress!

i'm starting to get worried though, everyone keeps saying I will be lucky to make it another month with the rate we have been going at. I guess it's better to be prepared for the idea that it might happen, but we are so not actually prepared for him to actually come early!! I'm glad our shower is next weekend!

Beta 5/9/2016 BFP!!
Embryo transfer scheduled for April 28, 2016 and beta test May 9, 2016 (day after Mother's Day!)
Transfer Meds include: Lupron Depot (4/1), Minivelle Patch (every 3rd day), Estradiol (3x daily), Amoxicillin, Progesterone in Oil, Methylprednisonlone. Lovenox and baby asprin added after transfer.
3/22/16 - Sono Saline ultrasound cyst to be aspirated on 4/1/16 if not cleared up by 3/29 US - It cleared on its own
Retrieval 3/4/16 - 26 eggs retrieved, 23 mature, 20 fertilized, 14 embryos currently frozen
Starting IVF Stims on +/- Feb 22, 2016
HSG scheduled for 1-26-16 - All clear "beautiful uterus" (though inverted)
Switched clinics and now prepping for IVF in February / March
