This is a weekly check-in for those in their 1st trimester: weeks 1 through the end of week 13. I know we've all gone through a lot to get to this point so congratulations and best of luck to all of you over the next several months!

Have you found any good registry building websites or blogs? I tried to start mine and boy is it overwhelming!! Have you received any good advice regarding what to put on your registry?

Good morning! I haven't even thought about the registry, I feel like it's still so far away. I haven't asked either, but a friend of mine did this and I figured I'd do the same when the time comes. She built her registry by copying others who were close to her due date. She would just look up registries of someone she knows and add the items she liked to hers. Although I did recently discuss a friend's registry with her and she told me a few of the items on it were really useless. I took a mental note and will not be adding them to mine.

Good morning! I started an Amazon registry, and they have something that organizes items by type (Diapers and wipes; onesies; bedding; etc.) and then it shows you the most popular items in that category. Babies R Us has a list of the things you should consider putting on your registry.

@tulips29 I know it seems so far off, but then I think of everything we need to do before then, and I'm thinking there is so little time! We are undergoing a fairly large home remod that I am going to be managing, we have to redo all the furniture (except the crib), and then the holidays!! Amongst so many other things!

@vssbrm that's true. I hope your remodeling goes well and you can be done before the holiday madness. We have a small bedroom that's currently empty that we will use as a nursery. It's already painted a neutral yellow color, although I'm not sure if I'll want to re-paint once we find out the baby's gender. That might be the only project aside from baby furniture and stuff. 

Are you ladies planning on having baby showers?

@Tulips29 I hope it goes well too! I have already built the schedule and we should be done by Nov 1, but I'm leaving a cushion of a few weeks in there too! We are doing everything from the kitchen, main bathroom, basement, and nursery. Luckily not everything will require contractors. We will refinish the wood floors in the nursery and install the wainscoting, I'm going to retire the bathroom and tile the kitchen floor. I will also do the vinyl wood look foor in the basement along w the drop ceiling. So there is a lot to do!!

We are having a shower, my mom and aunt usually get together and host them. One of my close friends also wants to help. I really wanted them to wait until the last minute to have it, but w the holidays in there it looks like it will be somewhere around the first weekend in November.

@Tulips29 I am planning on having a shower, and I'm worried I'm going to end up having to have two because of the sheer number of family members I have, along with "adopted" family. So we'll see. One of my church small group member's asked if I wanted to have a gender reveal party and I said no thank you. We're just going to do a silly video or picture series and that's it.

@vssbrm sounds like you will have your hands full until November. I'm sure you'll be relieved to be done with all that house work then, especially so far along in your pregnancy. November shower sounds good with timing also. Crazy to think that's just 4 months away! 

@dragonfaerie I like your idea of the video or picture series for gender reveal. I actually think I'd like to do that too, even though my family already asked about the gender reveal party. And I also have so many relatives that I don't know how the baby shower will work.

@vssrm Busy busy! Don't you do too much stinky painting/gluing! But it sounds like everything will be great when it is done!

@Tulips29 While I don't begrudge anyone their gender-reveal party if they want to do that, I feel like society has really started to make a big deal out of things that lessen the impact of other things that really are a big deal. For example: Prom-posals. Kids are spending $100s on elaborate setups just to ask someone to prom. All I can think is what happens when those same kids get engaged. And not that the gender reveal isn't a big deal, but I just didn't feel like I needed a separate party for it.

Happy Monday ladies... This is my last week in the 1st trimester group  

QOTW: - I just started a registry at Babies R Us. I do like that they have a checklist. I'm doing it online for now so I can add things and take them off as I figure out what exactly I need. my SIL just had a baby in April so she had some good ideas. Plus what would we do without Pinterest? I am always seeing pins for different lists etc. 

I will probably end up having 2 showers b/c all of my family and a bunch of friends are in CA. I have a feeling that one is going to be really big b/c I've already had a ton of people asking about it. That one will probably be in October b/c I am not going to want to drive out to CA when I am 8 & 9 months pregnant. Then my work always throws showers which is so nice of everyone. I don't know when that one will be.

It's overwhelming but people are so generous. I've already had a few friends give me some really nice hand me downs... One friend is giving me one of those Halo bassinets and another is gave me one of those Mama Roos.

I have thought about registries but I have yet to add anything. I've heard in my BMB that often items are turned over and then not available when it comes time. I am expecting a lot of hand-me-downs so I want to wait to see what I get before getting attached to anything specific. I'll probably register at Amazon, Target and my local baby shop where I imagine I'll get my cloth diapers from.

In other news, I got an at home doppler and it was the best purchase ever!! I got it at 9 weeks and found the heartbeat that night. Now I have to reach a goal I set for myself to wait at least two days between checking again - so far I have failed at waiting...

***edited to add: I have started adding items I like to my wish list on Amazon just so I don't forget. Kind of like a preliminary registry.

I'm 12 weeks now. Almost out of the first trimester. Eeek!! Still waiting on blood results before we tell people though. 
Havent started a registry yet. I probably won't for awhile now but thinking of registering at buy buy baby. A few people told me they're better than babies r us so I'm going to try there. I'm sure I'll have a baby shower but haven't discussed it with my mom yet. We probably won't start talking about it  until after 20 weeks.

@susykat77 I ordered a doppler this morning!! I'm having a hard time adjusting to not seeing the baby everyother week. My last apt was last Tuesday and I don't see my OB now until July 14. To just hear the heartbeat every few days will help me to relax so much! Or ya know, every morning and night. I'm going to be addicted.

@susykat77 @vssbrm which dopplers did you ladies order? Can you post a link please? I've been debating if I should purchase one or not. I read somewhere they shouldn't be used often because those ultrasound waves can't be good for the baby and should be used under doctors supervision. Then I see so people get them. I also can't wait that long. Even a few days make me so curious to hear how he/she is doing in there. 

On another note, I also played some pool volleyball over the weekend and then freaked out afterwards that maybe it somehow hurt the baby. I didn't jump around a lot or dive but I probably bounced around in the water a few times. I really don't know how to relax without thinking if every activity is really ok for the babe.

Hi ladies! to say that i'm happy to be here is a huge understatement!
Finally got my BFP after 3 failed IUI's and 1 failed FET!  I have my first ultrasound on 7/6, hoping everything goes well. According to an online calculator my due date is 2/27/17, (but obviously not official yet) that puts me at 5 weeks.
No symptoms other than the ones I have had on and off the last months due to all the meds and the stress. I have already gained about 7 lb (I'm usually  very good at watching what I eat at least during the week but I have been eating like crazy because of all the anxiety), oh and my boobs are already gigantic and occasionally they get very tender.
We did PGS but didn't choose based on gender, only quality, so on the day of our second beta we found out we are having a girl!!
I feel lucky to have found such a great community, wishing you all healthy pregnancies and beautiful babies!

I just had posted this to someone in our trimester thread, but wanted to caution you all on the overuse of dopplers.  The sound waves the doppler makes are very loud inside the womb and can be upsetting to your baby.  Please try to limit the amount you use it.  I used it only once a week on my "ticker change" day, but otherwise, I let the baby grow without getting mad at me.  Congrats to all you ladies in the 1st tri!

@Piperella that's good information, I also read that and my husband is asking me not to buy one. I'll add this to my list of questions for my OB tomorrow If he says it's ok to use, I'll get one and also use it once a week.

Hi ladies!! I obviously didn't start planning a registry, still just trying to make it through this week of torture- getting there SLOWLY lol
but I did plan my sister-in-law's shower; she used "babylist baby registry" (https://babyli.st/) it's a website that compiles all your registries, from all your different stores, into 1 list. This way you don't have to list, target, babies r us, Amazon, etc. You can just add it all to that one list and send out that link. People can buy online or instore. They send registry cards too. 

On another note: I have a question. At what week marker dos your body start feeling different?? I feel some of the symptoms; fatigue is in full force, no sickness but I have food aversions and some foods just taste so different than they once did, boobs are still tender. I was crampy, but now it's on and off. I get twinges (don't know how to explain them) just a weird feeling more so on my right side. But none of it is so overwhelmingly noticeable- should it be? I'm 7w3d and not sure if my body should feel noticeably pregnant. 
Clearly, I'm still so nervous. The days are going too slows

I am 9w4d and still don't "feel" pregnant aside from similar symptoms to yours. I don't enjoy eating, definitely have breast tenderness and I get those random twinges and cramps as well. I haven't vomited (except for the once when I was brushing my teeth) but I have nausea/general feeling ill. Still praying for you!

I have nausea on and off, mild though. But I don't enjoy eating either, I feel hungry sometimes and then go to eat and don't want food. Chicken tastes horrible, red meat taste amazing. I'm usually a big chicken eater and barely eat red meat. 

Thank you you for writing. Makes me feel a little better! First timer and the high chance of miscarriage has my head spinning and over thinking

I forgot to mention: I have my first OB apt on the 6th, which will be 10w5d. I feel like my nurse at the RE's office answered a lot of my questions, but I will ask again about traveling and then if I will be bumped into a high-risk category due to being an IVF/FET patient. Mostly I can't wait to see my wee one wiggle again! I had a blood draw this morning, and I should get a call soon about starting to get weaned off of everything. I can't WAIT for my tush to heal from the PIO!

I was wondering what everyone has been told about exercising, I pretty much haven't done anything other than walking during the IVF process and would really like to start working out a little, I will ask my Re next week. I used to do a little bit of spinning and I have read that it's ok during pregnancy as long as you don't push yourself too much but not sure if It will be allowed in my case.

So I go for my first high risk appointment on Friday. They are doing all the testing for Down syndrome and measuring as well as blood test for sex. Can't wait to see them again boy have I missed them

@yelllow22 My RE nurse told me that I could start weight lifting again, just to not push super heavy weights, gradually get myself back up to higher weights. I've just been doing resistance band exercises lately.

I exercise five-7 days a week. I take barre, swim, yoga, kickboxing, spinning. I was banned from exercising for five weeks before transfer and after transfer and then got cleared to start up again.

I have a fear of getting fat lol. But really I hear the more fit you are the easier labor is and less chance of c section. Watch me have a c section now. Ha!

Squats and lunges are supposed to be really good because they help to open up your hips and make labor earlier. Plus, who doesn't love a nice booty!?

I've been so nervous to exercise!! I feel like I have gained so much fat on my body since starting this process. I have been trying to ease back in with yoga and longer walks. My first RE, when we were doing IUIs said to not do much while doing those. Then I over stimmed w the retrieval and could not do much exercising for more than a few weeks, then the transfer and there was no exercising for min. A month after that... Now it's so hard to get back into it!

I've yet to get back into exercising. I had some bleeding and was put on pelvic rest. I see my doc in 2 weeks and I'm hoping to start back up swimming. BUT I'm also SO tired. Ugh.

I was also so tired and then when I started exercising again that completely went away. I just had to suck it up for a couple days and then it was fine. 13 weeks today. We announced to all of our family and friends yesterday.
