Sage: Boy, Girl or Neutral

I have only heard of Sage as a boy's name until I started frequenting this board, and here it seems more popular for girl's. What do you think, is Sage more of a boy's name, a girl's name or is it truly gender neutral?

I'd accept Sage as gender neutral  (because it's an herb) but since names like Rosemary and Violet arenever used for boys,  I have a hard time swallowing Sage as neutral.

I think Sage is slightly different though, because it is a homonym and can also refer to a wise old man, or as an adjective meaning wise.

My DDs MN is Sage so personally I say girl.

I've known several kids with the name Sage and it has been an equal mixture of boys and girls. I wouldn't side eye it on either.

I've only ever met females named Sage IRL so it's a heavy lean towards being a girl name for me.

The only Sage I've ever met was a girl so I think of it as feminine, but I wouldn't clutch my pearls if I heard it on a boy.

I had this argument with my husband recently. He wanted to name our baby boy Sage but it's all girl in my mind.
