This is a weekly check in for anyone pregnant over 35. If you are new to the board please feel free to jump right in!
How far along are you?
How are you feeling?
Team Green/blue/pink?
Any baby news (tests results/scans/upcoming appointments?)
Rants/Raves/Questions:
GTKY: If you could magically gift your partner one aspect/thing from your pregnancy so you didn't have to deal with it what would it be? How do you think they would handle it?
Re: Weekly Check in 6/24
How are you feeling? Good! Pregnant! I keep forgetting how big I am and try to do things I can't really do. Haha.
Team Green/blue/pink? Pink!
Any baby news (tests results/scans/upcoming appointments?) Appointments every two weeks now, so a regular OB appointment a week from today. Also have a echocardiogram (again) with a pediatric cardiologist that day. They want to take one more look to see if there really is a VSD there or not. Praying for not!
Rants/Raves/Questions: I don't sleep much, but I expected this since it happened with LO. Swelling hasn't been bad since this weekend, so I am
gratedul for that.
GTKY: If you could magically gift your partner one aspect/thing from your pregnancy so you didn't have to deal with it what would it be? How do you think they would handle it? Oh man, I would give him my insomnia. But he would NOT handle it. This is a man who thinks if he is woken up briefly once his sleep has been seriously compromised. Most nights he sleeps 9 hours. He would be in such bad shape. But I'd love for him to experience it and then have a much fuller understanding of how amazing it is that I get things done and manage to stay relatively pleasant to be around. Ha!
How far along are you? It will be 6 weeks on Sunday!
How are you feeling? Ok for the most part. I sleep super light and wake up all night long. Some fatigue during the day probably due to the new sleep pattern. Huge boobs and that's about it.
Team Green/blue/pink? It's anyone's guess at this point.
Any baby news (tests results/scans/upcoming appointments?) My first US and appointment in two weeks. I m really nervous and excited. It won't feel real until this happens. Praying for a big ole' fast like a rabbit heartbeat
Rants/Raves/Questions: Moods! Once in awhile I feel like my life is over and what have I done. I start doubting my boyfriend when he has done nothing at all. I know everything is going to be amazing but man it gets dark here and there. I blame hormones. Then I start trying to make a plan on what my daily life may look like and how my new love will fit in and it feels better.. HA! I know baby will have OTHER plans
GTKY: If you could magically gift your partner one aspect/thing from your pregnancy so you didn't have to deal with it what would it be? How do you think they would handle it? I agree with Sporty! He is a big baby when it comes to sleep it would be a major interruption to his life. He would handle it OK at the time, like in the middle of the night but would negotiate with the devil to stay in bed later in the morning.
How are you feeling? Pretty good although I'm off work for a few weeks and taking it easy. I wonder how my energy will be when I'm back at work.
Team Green/blue/pink? Pink
Any baby news (tests results/scans/upcoming appointments?) No
Rants/Raves/Questions: My MIL had a shower for us last weekend which was very sweet. When we opened gifts I saw a card from my mom addressed to my husband. I handed it to him, but didn't read it. The next morning I caught him looking at it again and wiping a tear away! It was a simple message. Something like "Dad- a title that suits you well" and saying that she thought he'd be a great dad. It as so moving to see him get a little emotional like that!
GTKY: If you could magically gift your partner one aspect/thing from your pregnancy so you didn't have to deal with it what would it be? How do you think they would handle it?
I wouldn't pass anything along. Because even if I didn't have to deal with it anymore I would have to deal with him dealing with it! Oh wait, nope. Change my mind. I would have him have the c section and recovery. Then I could take care of the baby and I'd have his mom come in and take care of him. Although I'd hate to see him go through that
How far along are you? 38w 2 days... could be any day now!
How are you feeling? Tired. Swollen. Achy. Impatient. Grateful for the low bar of expectations set by late pregnancy.
Team Green/blue/pink? Team pink. And after all the generous gifts of baby clothing, I have more pink things that I ever thought possible!
Any baby news (tests results/scans/upcoming appointments?) Was at the hospital on Monday due to decreased fetal movement, but all is well! Went to the doctors on Tuesday because I was having contractions and leaking... amniotic fluid or urine... turns out it was urine but I am dilated (just 1cm) so things are moving along. I had my actual weekly Drs appt on Thursday and everything looked great, so my next appt is on Tuesday
Rants/Raves/Questions: Raving, grateful that it's not as warm today as it has been so I feel a little better than I have been! Also, my boss and I decided that instead of working thru until next Wednesday, I would be done work as of the 22nd.
My boss thought that it would be okay if I came into work and just "relaxed" for the next week. Ummm... driving and hour in traffic and coming to work is not relaxing particularly when I am requested to sit in the fitness center and continue to train the woman who is replacing me... ummm... that's work.
On Wednesday one of the residents had a mild medical crisis and I had to deal with it, which caused me to have blurred vision and lightheadedness. That was that for me! My pressure is good, so yay, no more work for me. I am excited to start this new chapter in my life, but now we're playing the waiting game!
GTKY: If you could magically gift your partner one aspect/thing from your pregnancy so you didn't have to deal with it what would it be? How do you think they would handle it?
Oh there are SO many things I would want to gift my DH.... if I could give him one symptom so I didn't have to deal with it, it would be the swelling in my hands and feet and all the aches, numbness, lack of grip strength and other weird sensations that go along with it. I started swelling around 7 months, mildly at first so I couldn't wear my rings. By the end of may, at 8mos it was starting to get hot around here and that really made my feet swell. I've been living in sandals and recently bought compression stockings which I can't say enough about. I am not sure how he'd handle it, although I think he would handle it the way he handles any pain: by being grumpy and obsessively trying to control it. I mean, not far off from how I am handling it, to be honest!
How are you feeling? Oy vey...I have some new fun pelvic/groin pain that I am not sure what it is. It hurts like a mo fo when I sleep too long and I wake up with my outer hips in so much pain. I think my pelvis might be slightly out of alignment and causing problems. Despite my insomnia it has been a pretty easy pregnancy up until this point, but every time I stand up now it's like hefting a bowling ball on tight painful ligaments and unstable pelvic bones- I might just come apart at the seams. But other then that I'm just peachy I've actually been sleeping better.
Team Green/blue/pink? Blue baby!!
Any baby news (tests results/scans/upcoming appointments?) Passed my GD/ HA1c and the number was even slightly lower than when I fist took it at 16 weeks so that is good. I think baby is still breech so he needs to start the journey south soon! I'm on to appointments every 2 weeks and there is so much to do to get ready for baby and a home birth (FX I can stay at home!!!)
Rants/Raves/Questions: My rant is my mom being such a party pooper about hosting my baby shower, she is being so very unhelpful which means I basically have to do it all by myself. My rave is when I told my DH this he said he would do it for me/ whatever I wanted him to do which was really sweet. He was my maid of honor at our wedding, because we eloped and he volunteered to be my doula, so why wouldn't he plan/exacute my baby shower. Ha!
GTKY: If you could magically gift your partner one aspect/thing from your pregnancy so you didn't have to deal with it what would it be? How do you think they would handle it?
You guys are great with your answers!
I would gift DH this new fun pelvic pain and he would probably writhe on the floor in agony and act like his world was ending. It would pretty much be the end of the world for him because he likes to be really active and tigger around all the time like a monkey. In the past when he has had a persistent injury that has kept him sedentary he gets really moody.
@lillebowski23 I can not believe it is almost time for baby girl to arrive!?!?!? Holy moly wishing you an easy last few days/weeks.

How are you feeling? I'm feeling okay. See rants below...
Team Green/blue/pink? Pink + Blue = Purple?
Any baby news (tests results/scans/upcoming appointments?) I start my twice weekly BPP/NST on July 5th which is also my next OB appointment AND growth ultrasound. I'm planning to be there all morning. Geez.
Rants: 1) I get up at least 4 times per night to pee - sleep sucks, 2) It's so darn hot and humid here I don't want to go outside - I sleep with two fans on me and I'm still sweating when I get up to pee, and 3) I have this new symptom that's annoying and painful - I have this burning to the right of my belly button and when I lift my daughter or bump the area (taking clothes out of the washer this morning), it hurts SO FREAKING BAD I almost cry. I googled it and it seems like it might be from stretching. Holy crap. I have 7.5 weeks to go - I'm guessing there's going to be a bit more stretching. UGH!
Rave: I sold my townhouse and we closed today! I'd been renting it out since I moved in with my hubby before our wedding so it's so good to be done with it!! YAY! And we made a nice profit, so that's good too!!
GTKY: If you could magically gift your partner one aspect/thing from your pregnancy so you didn't have to deal with it what would it be? How do you think they would handle it? The frequent contractions. I think sometimes my hubby doesn't believe me and that he doesn't understand how uncomfortable they are. I don't think he'd deal with them very well and I'd have to hear all about poor him, but it might be worth it for a day so he'd understand!!
How are you feeling? I feel pretty good lately regarding the pregnancy. I only had mild nausea for a few weeks. Now I just get a little indigestion. I don't have a bump yet, but I look like it because of the bloating. At the moment I have a cold, so that's more of an issue.
Team Green/blue/pink? I know, but not ready to share. We found out because we did pgd testing through ivf. It could always be wrong, but we'll get the confirmation sooner or later anyway.
Any baby news (tests results/scans/upcoming appointments?) I have my first ob appointment on Monday.
Rants/Raves/Questions:
I'm still learning and I'm sure I'll have more questions along the way.
GTKY: If you could magically gift your partner one aspect/thing from your pregnancy so you didn't have to deal with it what would it be? How do you think they would handle it?
He already has more aches and pains than me so I don't wish him to feel any more. I would like him to get rid of his issues (physical and his stress), because honestly it adds a lot of stress to my life. I'd like him to show more concern with how I'm feeling, because it is not always going to be this easy.
How are you feeling? Lots of BH contractions and @lillebowski23 my underwear are almost always damp these days. How are we supposed to know if that is sweat, urine or amniotic fluid? Not to mention the discharge. I look forward to the day my nether region is no longer a swamp. Other symptoms include acid reflux, pelvic pain, insomnia, swelling, shortness of breath on the stairs, trouble reaching my feet, trouble getting off the couch, constricting lung pain and slight nausea that sometimes accompanies BH...and generally feeling huge and ready to have this baby.
Team Pink (still no name)
Any baby news? Short appt on Monday. I think I have appts every week after this. And I'm getting at least one more u/s.
Rants/Raves/Questions: I've been feeling movements since 17 weeks, but these days it is so clear that there is a full-size baby wriggling and kicking inside me. This is like a science fiction book.
GTKY: I would have given him the 24/7 nausea from the first trimester. He said since I never actually threw up, I didn't have morning sickness. I want him to feel how wrong he was about that!
@createillumination your pelvic pain is the same as mine and mamafesto's and others. It's not an alignment problem -- just your pelvis loosening and opening in preparation for the baby. It's wicked painful and I sleep on a fluffy blanket because my hips hurt so much when I lay on them at night.
@emsmama15 I also have that pain to the side of my bellybutton. I've had it for months and the skin is a different color there. It hurt more earlier in the pregnancy, so hopefully yours will adjust as well?

How are you feeling? Pretty tired but hanging in there...I'm getting that same intense pelvic pain that @createillumination and @CarrieandRoy have mentioned, although mine is often on the left side only. Some nights it's just unbearable. I can never seem to have enough water by my bedside and tend to wake up in the middle of the night dying of thirst. And I definitely have a waddle to my walk these days. My ankles hurt after a full week of teaching camp.
Team Green/blue/pink? BLUE!
Any baby news (tests results/scans/upcoming appointments?) Just the regular appointments every 2 weeks. Next one is this Wednesday. Baby has been moving a TON last night and this morning. It's pretty wild to see my whole belly vibrating and jiggling and bulging. I agree with @CarrieandRoy that it's like a science fiction book!
Rants/Raves/Questions: I'm so exhausted after teaching a full week of aerial dance camp. I had a really great assistant, which definitely helped, but I still had to be on my feet most of the day, being physically active and running around after 12 children ages 7-14. I'm starting to seriously rethink my plan of teaching camps until I'm 38 weeks after seeing how difficult it was to get through this week at 33 weeks. We definitely need the money but at the same time I just can't see myself waddling after a wild group of kids when I'm the size of a whale. Plus the long days are just so tough on my back, my feet, my ankles, etc.
On another note, DH is at a "Boot Camp for New Dads" course this morning and I'm so excited to hear all about it!! Apparently other dads will bring in their babies so the new dads can learn about changing diapers, soothing babies, etc. I wish I was there to see it all but no women were allowed.
GTKY: If you could magically gift your partner one aspect/thing from your pregnancy so you didn't have to deal with it what would it be? How do you think they would handle it?
Hmmm, I tend to think that DH would be fairly tough with it all. I think the nausea in first trimester would've kicked his butt, though. And I do wish I could hand over the entire labor and delivery part to him and be the one to do the massaging and comforting. Also, I wish he could experience the baby's kicks and movements - not because I don't like them (I really do like the kicks, no matter how painful they are!) but because it's such a sweet and special thing. He even admitted the other day that he was jealous that he'd never get to experience that and how amazing it is that I get to be with our baby all the time right now.
@lillebowski23 OMG - you are so close!! I can't wait to hear all about it! Good luck!

How far along are you? 26 weeks
How are you feeling? Pretty good. Baby is moving around like crazy.
Team Green/blue/pink? Blue!
Any baby news (tests results/scans/upcoming appointments?) No appts until my 28w appt and ultrasound on July 14th.
Rants/Raves/Questions:None that I can think of. Knowing that I was one of the later pregnancy announcements in this "group" of ladies, I'm getting excited for so many of you all that are so far into the 3rd trimester!
GTKY: If you could magically gift your partner one aspect/thing from your pregnancy so you didn't have to deal with it what would it be? How do you think they would handle it? The lack of being comfortable when sleeping. I'm such a sweetheart. I miss rolling around and being a burrito when I sleep. I really miss being on my back and stomach. I think he would handle it so poorly that I'd take it back.
