WDYT of this girl name?

Leighton Cora D----- (pronounced like the actress.. lay-ton)

We are due in October, and this is literally the only name both DH and I have liked so far. My favorite was Vivian but DH didn't love it.. DH liked Harper but it was too popular for me. Big brother is Cole.

I like it because it's unique and to me doesn't seem too girly/cutesy. Thoughts? Or should I really pull for Vivian instead? Girl names are so hard!

Not a fan at all. All I ever hear is Lay-ton like Lay a ton.

Edit: Vivian is classy, beautiful, feminine and on and on and Leighton is trendy and lacking substance for me

I like it! I maybe like Leighton Coral or Leighton Coralie because for some reason the "l" makes it seem a little softer to me, but I do like all the variations!

I think Vivian is a much classier name. I agree with PP that Leighton sounds very trendy. Maybe Coralie Leighton or Cora Leighton? The name Veda has a similar "ay" sound to Leighton but is also an underused classic name.

I dislike Leighton.  Trendy and masculine.

I dont like it ....I cant imagine a 15 year old girl introducing herself as Leighton.

Not a fan, especially when compared to Vivian, which is a beautiful and classy name. Like PP said, Leighton seems very masculine, and I think you'd run into mispronunciation issues as well.

I like Leighton a lot. Vivian and Harper both feel trendier to me. Love Cora too!

I vote Cora Leighton, but I agree that I can't imagine a 15 yr old girl introducing herself as Leighton. If you think about it, it is very masculine.  Leigh would be a better MN IMO. Cora Leigh.

I don't mind it because of the actress, but I do think Cora Leighton is nicer.

It is ok. Kind of reminds me of the word "latent" though. I actually prefer Harper.

Love Leighton! I don't think it's as cutesy as some little girls' names out there, so I don't feel like she will 'outgrow' it. Congratulations, mama!

I don't think the pronunciation of this name is intuitive. Leigh is most commonly pronounced "lee" not "lay". IMO, this name will seem very dated very quickly, in other words, trendy.  Vivian is beautiful but very feminine - which is such contrast to why you like Leighton (not too girly/cutesy). There might be more options to explore in that style of name.  Avery, Reese, Blake, Sloane, Jade, Sybil, Ingrid, Gretchen and Erin come to mind.

Edit: Adding: Wren, Sydney, Quinn, Riley, Rayna, Kendra, Piper, Gwen, Dierdre, Brynn, Liv and Lauren.

It's not my style and I strongly prefer Vivian, but I wouldn't blink twice if I heard someone introduced as Leighton.  It's very trendy.

I don't care for Leighton. I think it sounds like a made-up name and is super trendy. Cora is pretty.

Thanks for your feedback! I really don't want a trendy/cutesy name so hopefully I can convince DH to go with Vivian or find something else.. man we are struggling with this!

We both do like Cora, but it's just way too close to Cole (our son). Way too Duggar-ish for me ;)

@kimikimi Bryn is my name, which I love and would love to find something like it. I do like Sloane... but was worried that was super trendy too. Don't love the other suggestions though :(

Cora Leigh is one of our twin girls names. :) so thumbs up for that name from me.

However, I do like Leighton, just maybe spelled differently. But this is also coming from someone who is naming her other twin girl, Carlisle.

Like most people I think Vivian is much nicer. I don't like Leighton on a girl or boy. It doesn't sound like a girl's name at all. I really dislike using masculine or boy names for girls. (I know people use this for girls as well)
