I had mine yesterday and passed! With DD, the glucola made her move like crazy, but this time around, LO didn't move at all. Luckily, I had my monthly appointment after so I got to hear the heartbeat.
Waiting on my results from the three hour test until tomorrow. I thought with my love of sugar I'd like that drink but ewww! I had the fruit punch flavor and nope, didn't like that at all! My poor arms are bruising up already (I bruise easily), I should have worn long sleeves to work today!
Passed the 1 hour! So relieved--just really didn't want to sit through the three hour test.

I failed at the one hour mark (by 6!), but passed all the rest and was diagnosed with gestational glucose intolerance (not nearly as difficult to control as GD).
Took my 1 hour test yesterday. Still loved the orange glucola. Time passed pretty quickly, overall not a bad appointment, but setting myself up for the 'failed' result since I felt so devastated last time. I was cranky all evening, not sure if that was from the sugar crash or just an off night - back to my normal self today! Happy Friday!
Looks like I'm joining the gestational diabetes club. I did the 2 hour test -- my numbers were well within normal range for fasting and 1 hour, but were over by only 4 points on the 2 hour. But, I guess a fail is a fail, whether by 4 points or 40 points. I should be getting my test kit this evening and meeting with the diabetes educator next week. Boo.
I might have missed the answer but how long did it take you to get your results back? I take mine Monday morning but fly out that evening for Vegas till Friday.
I didn't have Gd with my other three but I'm kind of freaking out about it now. I have thrush which is one of the signs. Along with extremely tired and frequent urination. But who's to say that's just not pregnancy related.
Aside from failing the tests did any of you have any other symptoms?
@618mom22boys I did mine on a Saturday and got a call on Wednesday. The office closed for the weekend so it would've been the same if I'd done it on Monday.
ETA: I was getting really strong headaches, which prompted the NP to think it could be GD related so I took the test at 26 weeks. I also had low blood sugar episodes if I went too many hours without eating.
I did mine yesterday, no symptoms or risk factors but I failed. The 2 hour test at the 1 hour mark by 6 points. THey told me a fail is a fail on that one so now I have to wait to set up my meeting with dietitian. Ugh. I'm frustrated and bummed.
Heard back earlier today that I passed! This makes me feel so happy since my baby is measuring ahead and I didn't want to add extra factors that would make him keep growing and get even bigger
Hey ladies- I'm so mad!! To start off- we were supposed to get the test done at the 27 week apt but nobody bothered to tell us that we needed to be there an hour early. I knew that It was going to be an hour from when I drank the glucola to when they drew my blood- but my apt was scheduled for 4:30 and nobody said anything at previous apt to show up any earlier. So we get there and I ask for the stuff and they said oh its too late for all that now- the phlebotomist leaves @ 4:30. So mad.....So I went back this past Tuesday and did it @ 3:30 with blood draw @ 4:30. I called the nurse yesterday to find out what the results were (thanks for calling me before that lovely nurse lady as I'm sure the results were in before that) to find out I failed.....
I have to do the 3 hour now and I'm so mad- I'm super busy at work over the next 2 weeks and really don't have the luxury to be out of the office for almost 1/2 a day this upcoming week....ridiculously inconvenient and my work for the most part requires me to be there- so even if I was able to do some things on a lap top- a lot of what I do is driven by meeting with patients in our office.
My questions are- what time of day did ya'll take your tests? One of my besties said I was set up for failure because I should have gone in the AM even for the 1 hour test.
And what sorts of changes do you have to make to your diet if you fail the tests?
Eating all the bad things this weekend- because why the hell not at this point......
@MNturnsVA I have always done my GTT in the hospital outpatient lab and they only schedule the 3-hour test starting between 7:00-8:00 AM. You have to fast for the 3-hour and it makes it easier to schedule as early as possible. And yeah, a lot of people do fail the 1-hour unnecessarily due to not fasting for it.
As far as the diet, you eat 3 meals and 3 snacks a day. You are allowed a certain number of carbs per meal and you always want to make sure to get enough protein at each meal/snack as well. It's not really that bad or hard to follow the diet but obviously you do have to give up some things for a couple months.

I did my blood draw at 330 and has results in about 5 mins as they do it right there in house(it's not a hard test). Test time doesn't have much to do with it. It's all about how your body processes sugar. If anything if you had a lot of auger through out the day that might impact it.
I only did the longer test that I failed by 6 points on 1 of 3 draws, it was at 8:30am and I had to fast beforehand starting at midnight. I got the results the next morning via the online system and a phone call around 11am which was probably a good thing for me to have a little time to process on my own. It's okay to feel shocked, sad, angry etc. - we all react differently to bad news. It took me a day of feeling really upset/angry before coming to terms with the results and being able to joke about it.
You should fast for the three hour test, not for the one hour. My OB did want me to not eat for a couple hours before so it didn't affect the result but not fast. Having something to eat right before or having a ton of sugar within a couple hours could affect the test. The range is pretty high (all labs are different but it typically needs to be less than 130 or 140 at an hour) but you can fail the one hour and pass the three hour, unless your numbers pass the threshold and are considered too high (I believe it's around 180-200 at one hour and 150 at two, etc).
I had my test this morning. I decided to stop by the bakery on the way to the office to pick up a price of cake in the event I get my results back and don't pass.
Just took my 3 hour and came home and ate a leftover half of a calzone from Friday, thinking I'd feel too guilty to eat it if I fail. Only time will tell...
Just tested this morning. Hoping for a pass but anticipating a fail since I have had issues with insulin resistance in the past. Just keeping my fingers crossed I don't hear anything as in my OB's office no news is good news. Dreading seeing their number come up on my phone
Nurse just called saying that my 2 hour draw was exactly at the limit, but I passed the other 3 draws. (Last pregnancy I failed the 1 hour draw and passed the other 3). My OB has yet to review it, so I haven't gotten her word yet, but my best guess is she'll encourage me to limit carbs, but won't have to track food/check blood... same boat as last pregnancy. Will still be reading for meal ideas in the weekly check-in!
Failed the 1 hour. Going back for a 3 hour tomorrow, but I can't do it first thing in the morning, so I'll have to wait until I get off work at 2. Fasting is going to SUCK.

@homebird - youch! That's brutal timing. Oftentimes they'll say that an 8 hour fast is sufficient for labwork, have you verified with the lab and/or your provider? If 8 hours is allowed, I'd get up and eat something right before 6am!
@AnnaS930 The tech told me if I come in and haven't fasted for 12 hours they'll send me home.
WAAAH! Yeah 8 or 12 hours seems to be the standard.. bummer! Was really hoping they'd let you do it with 8. Make sure to eat some good proteins right before bed then, anything that can help carry you through. And bring a good sized snack/meal for after before driving home!!
Just had my baseline draw for the 3 hr. And realizing the timer won't even start until they give me the drink. I had envisioned a 7am start and 10 am finish, didn't factor in the paperwork and having to make sure the baseline is within acceptable limits. ETA: Everyone seems to get their results in real time for the 3 hr, is that right?
My dietitian wants me to either retake the 1hr or take the 3hr whichever my OB wants. she said my numbers were awesome awesome and almost too good for someone with GD so we will see!
My draw will be in about 10 minutes, and my OB said the results will be in later this week. I'd imagine it depends on whether they have the lab facility on site and how long the backlog is.
Just really realized my 3 hour test is tomorrow. Forgot to get snacks for after while at the grocery store this morning, so I'll have to stop tomorrow on the way. And I have to remember to fast tonight! Which sucks because I've hit the 'need a snack in the middle of the night' phase. Also, need to pick my book to read.
