Our second choice for DD was Moira Angela. A little too Peter Pan maybe, but we loved Moira and Angela is an aunt. We are having a tough tough time with boy names, I love this thread. H vetoed all my picks: Andrew, Conner, Patrick. We have a McLastname and he doesn't want anything too Irish/Scottish.
I love the name Esther, but DH thinks it sounds like an old lady name
Also, we both absolutely love the name Daniel, but I dated 3 Daniels in the past...lol. I told DH we can name a boy Daniel in the future, but not the first one, or I'll never live it down!
@Ampip2270 I love the name Bristol. Your SIL's reaction was totally uncalled for. If she hasn't ruined it completely for you, definitely still consider it. It's such a strong and yet beautiful name!
For some reason, I love names that start with H. Hattie, Haley, Hannah, Henry. Unfortunately, our last name also starts with an H. And ends in a Y. Thus eliminating all of those options. I also love the name Etta but it's off the list because it doesn't flow with our last name or our DD's name. Our #2 girl name when DD was born was Brenna but it's too close to DH's crazy aunt Brenda's name.
I loved Callum, Connell, Cullen, Sebastian, Mathis and Griffin for a boy but hubby vetoed them all and said he would get beaten up for sounding like a preppy prick also liked Otto but he said it was a stoner Simpsons character yet he wanted Hyde haha girls we for the most part have always been on the same page and carried the 2 others we had from last time for this baby but he did turn down Hollis, Etta and Esmae really quick last time!
Edited because the bump keeps eating half my posts!
@seitzy3 and @ajn092 We are naming our little girl Evin Alyse (evan uh-lease). Spelled that way because we are naming her after my dad, Devin! For the most part we have gotten good responses from people and most say they love it once they are use to it.
KristinUM12 - I don't think Esther sounds like an old lady name at all! And besides, your daughter is going to be an adult and even an old lady someday, but she won't be a baby forever. I think it's way worse when parents give their children names that sound overly childish - they work great for the little kid stage, but they have to live with that name foreeevvveerr.
@JennM205 We inadvertently are ending up with H names! Our daughter is Hattie and hubs is pushing hard for Henry for this little guy. I'm hesitant to have both start with the same letter, because that can be a little cheesy, but Henry is pretty high on our list!
@abberson I seriously am in LOVE with the name Hattie. I first heard it on the ABC show Parenthood and have wanted to use it ever since but it would just sound ridiculous with our last name. I don't think two H names is too cheesy! I do agree having kids with the same first initial can get cheesy but when it's just two and it only happened because you happened to love two names that start with the same letter, I think it's actually kind of cute! (BTW - I am one of four children. All "J" names. AND our middle names all start with "M". That is a little much. )
@JennM205 That reminds me of one of H's aunt and uncles. Uncle's name is Jack and they had four kid and the first letter of their names spells Jack (first kid starts with J, second with A, third with C, and fourth with K). What would have happened if they had a fifth?
@jhems776 Wow, that's kind of amazing. Do you know if it was planned like that from the beginning? Or if it was one of those situations where they had a J, an A, a C and then realized what had happened so found a K name for the 4th? Lol either way!

Maybe an "S"? and then all "S's" after that. JACKSSSSS
Girls names we had, Lenore, Clementine, Blythe, Penelope & Brynn. Boys names- Cooper, Jacob, Bodhi and DH fav. Obadiah. Still undecided for now but have what we hope are a couple of contenders.

Haha totally misread this and thought you were spelling "Jackass"

Loving all the input! I loved Tessa, Celia, Elise for girl names... We are having a boy this time, and am struggling with names. Boy names that have been veto-ed are Oscar, Isaac, Arlow, Silas and Mason.
Wife to A; Mama to C (2009), N (2011), H (2014) & baby F due 09/16/16
Our girl name is Catalina. This munchkin is a boy and we are struggling. We want a name that shows that this kid is 1/2 Mexican with a last name like smith. Husband vetoed Javier, Francisco, Thomas, Daniel, andres, Oliver. I vetoed finnegan, Wallace, Everett, Eugene, Oscar, victor, Finn, finnick. We were kind of set on Elliott but he's back pedaling which makes me sad as that one of my top choices
@RedMarI don't like that name because of the X sound at the beginning. In Spanish Xavier and Javier are pronounced the same but it actually makes me very angry in English. It ties back to the thread of having to correct the pronunciation. I don't want to doom my kid to that
I feel like our last name is a big stumbling block. It's very long (4 syllables) and very Italian. People pronounce it correctly exactly 0% of the time. It makes me be like "TWO SYLLABLES MAX! EASY TO SPELL" Also, it sounds so ethnic, I feel like the first name has to match in that way, otherwise it just sounds odd.
So I'm considering VERY Italian names like Rocco and Gino, that I would NEVER consider with my French maiden name.
Eta* sorry this probably belongs on the other name thread, I just keep reading this one hoping I'll find some inspiration!
@Themaritimemama Just have to say I love your style!! Our lists are very similar, and our boys are narrowed down to Connor, Asher, and Mason for this LO.

@Cricket Bug I had thought the same thing when you posted! I love Asher and would use it in a heartbeat sort of as a nod to my mom whose last name is Ashizawa, but my H doesn't like it. Conor was also a suggestion, but we have a Chloe and know a few Connors. Our DS1 is Nixon, so we're trying to find a good 5 letter name that is a little more out there than most, but not too crazy.

@mom2adoodle I really like Fiona. It was on our list, but dropped off after I made the mistake of mentioning the Shrek character to DH. I've been thinking about it again lately though...
@marikkita12 it was what DH and I could agree on. Since I wanted something of Spanish decent and he wanted something unique, it worked for us. We call him "Avi" (ah-vee) as a nickname (I got my way with the Spanish flare -ha). Also, I don't think we've "doomed him" with the name. Some people think it's pronounced zay-vee-er, others include the "x" in the beginning. I like the "x" sound as it is similar to Alexander. But then again, the name "Xander" is usually said with a "z". It's funny how there is a variety of pronunciation of some names in English, the phonetics are wacked. As you know, it's much more cut and dry in Spanish with the letters consistently making the same sounds!
@BernieRae Shrek! That's funny. I never saw it and neither did DH so thankfully that wasn't an issue here. It's also a movie that I doubt many kiddos will reference when our LO's are older so I didn't anticipate much around it. We will probably use it if we have a little girl after this guy, assuming I am able to get pregnant again of course. However, this little dude is Finley and if we have a girl her name would be Fiona. Fin and Fi is a little silly but cute at the same time lol. We shall see. We have time HA!
Oh I don't think Shrek would really stop us from using the name Fiona. It was just a reason for DH to move on. And what's funny is neither of us have even seen any of those movies!

@KimmySchmidt my Dad's name is Rocco. My maiden name is also a very long, four syllable Italian name that is never correctly pronounced (I got "Sacramento" a lot). Everyone agrees that my dad has a pretty badass name
@geminigirl16 Luca was on the table last time, but in the mean time I feel like I know a million Lukes and Lucases that have been born within the past few years and I feel like a Luca would have to be constantly correcting people who would be confusing his name with one that is more popular.
I can't decide if "Rocco" is a super chill dude, a guy who breaks your legs because you have gambling debts, or a dog.
I think all three lol. I kind of had the reverse of your situation. I really liked Italian first names but my married name is Anglican AF so none of them sounded good. My favorites were Vincent and Dominick
@Themaritimemama Our long list (all that DH nixed) included Ronan, Rohan, Oren, Orson, Kane, and Sullivan, and Silas. Most of our conversations went, me: 'Ronan?' Him: *scrunched up nose* 'ugh...Patric?' I feel super lucky he is even entertaining Asher. hahaha

This girl is our last, but our boy list was: Henry, Lincoln, Leo, Oliver, Easton, Graham, Sebastian, Quentin, Bennett and Luca.
Girl names that are family our we moved off our long list: Ella, Bridget, Fiona, Elena, Evelyn, Mila, Genevieve, Aubrey, Julia, Lucy, Charlotte.
Boys names- Cooper, Jacob, Bodhi and DH fav. Obadiah.
Still undecided for now but have what we hope are a couple of contenders.
