  • Had a growth scan today and baby is in the 42nd percentile for weight. The nerd in me wanted to find a chart/range and extrapolate it out. But I know it's not very accurate anyway.
  • My coworkers have suddenly taken notice too. I work with all men now and ever since I hit the third trimester last week they keep coming up to me asking how I'm feeling and if I'm doing all right and if I need some work taken off me so I can rest. One even told me I look sickly. I think I look just fine and while I'm exhausted I can still do just as much work as before. I guess it's sweet they care though.
  • Men always seem to either think pregnancy is an "excuse to be lazy" or the exact opposite, that suddenly you're too fragile for anything, and a lot of the times in a patronizing rather than endearing way, at least I've experienced. If I didn't ask for help, then I'm alright, but if I did, don't tell me I'm whining!!

I am finally having some more discomfort these past few weeks. The few aches and pains I've had have me wondering what contractions will feel like and I'm starting to get pretty scared of labor. I haven't really done much to prepare for it because I just figured I'll get an epidural if it's bad. But the more stories I read make me realize that there are a million different ways things can go down; so I feel scared of how I will cope if something happens like I don't have time for an epi or it doesn't work the way it should. I hope I can zone in and stay strong through the pain. I've never been someone who planned on going med free, if science has progressed to where I don't have to be in pain then I see no reason to stand in the way of progress! Lol (Nothing against you ladies who are going natural, more power to you!)

  • @alyssajrob22 I hate when people act concerned or empathetic by telling me I look like I'm miserable. What is that?! It's always on days when I'm feeling pretty good too...

  • @midwestbaby glad everything turned out ok! Also one thing I liked about the monitor while in labor was watching the contractions on the paper once I had gotten the epi. It was pretty cool but DD kept moving around so they kept having to come in and adjust it.

Yesterday at a Memorial Day cookout at my inlaws FIL asked me how I was feeling, I said pretty good, he said "oh I thought you'd be miserable". Sorry to disappoint you but no, I'm not miserable.
  • @midwestbaby
    I'm glad everything is ok!

I hated being monitored during labor. Mainly because I had awful back labor and I didn't want to be in bed. That position was not comfortable for me.
  • My husband has also decided that I can no longer lift anything. Like he refused to let me move light furniture the other day and called a neighbor to come help. My half of the furniture probably weighs less than my 2yo
  • @midwestbaby - I'm glad to hear things have calmed down for you!

Monitoring definitely isn't fun.  With my dd the hospital allowed me to be up and moving so they only did intermittent monitoring which was great.  We are switching hospitals this time though and I was told they have wireless monitors so I will be hooked up the whole time.  I am definitely not looking forward to it because monitors slip and beep and are a huge headache.

Kid leashes are a great thing!  If we're in a crowded place then dd is either in the Tula (even at 2) or on a leash.  My mom always tells the story of how my cousin was almost abducted with my my aunt and mom standing next to her.  Kids can take off or be taken in seconds and a leash makes it a little harder.

  • @BookhousegirlIt kind of reminds me of the movie Stepmom, where Julia Roberts tells Susan Sarandon's character that she looks tired. Greatest response ever, but SS says something to the effect of "Thats the polite way of telling someone they look like shit."

@curls919 DH is the same way. He wouldnt let me lift a 12 pound bag of cat food the other day. I wanted to scream.

I'm enjoying seeing a little more snark and a little less filter coming from my August mommas. Keep it up ladies and we might just join the ranks of the months before us. So maybe it is the hormones!! lol

ETA:   For STM, have you talked with your child's pediatrician about your new baby yet? Are you suppose to? DD came early and I didn't choose a pediatrician until the day she was born, so no previous contact. Now with this one, I'm wondering do I give them a heads up to expect a new arrival or just let the L&D team handle contact again? Sorry, insomnia is making this sound more like rambling than I hoped.

  • @cal031686 - I was just in for my dd's 2 year check-up so our ped found out then.  If I hadn't had the appt I probably would have called just to give a heads up.  The ped we use isn't a part of the hospital I'm delivering at so they wouldn't have found out until baby was born.
  • Yes!! @midwestbaby @BrunetteBabe722
    @AliKay20
    Random, entititled, special special snowflakes.
  • @cal031686 - they know I'm pregnant but they didn't ask a due date or anything. We'll just tell he hospital what pediatrician we use and they contact them when I deliver.

With DS we had met with this office but hadn't made any official decisions before my water broke so we used them based on our one meeting (we hadn't met with another pediatrician yet and had no further contact with this office after our initial meeting)

Is anyone elses app acting really strange? On my home page and under account it has all my info and regular screen name but when I go to do a post it keeps asking me to login again. it also is acting like I haven't read any posts.

ETA: ok I'm being dumb. Apparently I had made an account under my other email address last year  and was thinking that was my login which is why it's giving me a different screen name. But, it does keep asking me to login when I click on a board. Ugh

Testing to see if logging out completely worked.

Edited: yay it worked! Please ignore this post and the one above it
  • Today i was driving by to go drop keys off for my job and this lady is on her darn phone while 5 kids were running about to go on the street and all under 5 yrs old they looked and she had a stroller with a baby, i was like WTF aren't you suppose to be watching these kids, idk if they were hers or she was taking care of them but that freaked me out, i got upset just to think you can't really trust your kids with anyone if that was the case she was watching them. I almost cried because leaving my baby with anyone just freaks me out and she is not even born yet.
  • I would really appreciate it if this baby decided to turn head down soon... 30w tomorrow and already have been doing spinning babies, have bodywork with a breech balancing specialist scheduled next Tuesday and have been doing chiro work since about week 15.  Moxibustion is up next if none of these work!

I'm sure most of you have already picked out your strollers, but I'm actually finding this part a bit confusing/challenging. You aren't supposed to leave your child in a car seat unless they are riding in the car (to limit car seat time), yet most strollers that accommodate newborns and under 6 months are travel systems where the car seat is used as the stroller seat. Huh??? Am I missing something here?

@midwestbaby Glad everything turned out to be okay!

I'm finding I have way less tolerance for stupid comments lately.  We had to go to the first of 2 weddings on DH's side of the family this summer.  When we got there, FIL walked right up to me and told me I looked good... for a pregnant woman.  Um, thanks?  Actually, that's exactly how I responded.  I'm too tired and annoyed to fake gratitude for backhanded compliments.

@Nikkoli98 We got the baby jogger city select and for that one you order a separate bassinet/pram kit for the infant stage. Sometimes they don't have that stuff in the store so you wouldn't see it when you're "window shopping." Check out the websites and see.
But yes a Lot of strollers are made to use the car seat and I'm not sure what the answer is for the conflicting recommendations. Everyone thinks we're crazy for not using a travel system, but we'll see.

  • This is probably appropriate for WTF Wednesday but DH and I are at the beach for our anniversary and babymoon. He booked a prenatal massage for me and the masseuse is almost an hour late. I hate people and am having some serious first world problems!
  • @texasmama2014
Thanks for posting this. I was starting to have some doubts about the Chico bravo system we bought where the car seat clicks into the stroller.

    BFP: 10/2/18 EDD 6/15/18

  • @Car0liiine, I've been eyeing that one as well (online). Does it feel really big to push around? Might need to go to the store to check it out!

@texasmama2014, thanks for that point!! That and spinal development were my concerns; but I suppose at that young of an age they will have to be out very frequently anyways just for feeds.

@midwestbaby, it just felt like conflicting information that likely had an explanation I was overlooking.  I didn't mean for anybody to doubt their choices.  Glad everything worked out on your L & D adventure! :-)
  • @Car0liiine -  I didn't have an infant car seat so I bought the bassinet/pram for my Bumbleride indie and I absolutely love it.  Everyone thought I was crazy too but I definitely prefer it to any of the car seat/stroller combinations and to having an infant seat on my stroller.

@Nikkoli98 I'm just seconding PP, the angle is made to be safe. The recommendation is more related to taking the car seat out of the car and leaving it on the floor, crib, etc., where the angle is different and can create a breathing issue.

With that said, we have a stroller with the pram attachment and I loved it with DS1. We live in a very walk-friendly area, and I liked that he had more space and could lie flat on his back in it. It isn't that convenient for in and out of the car though.

  • @Allisun85 oh that's great news that they found the cause!

  • @Allisun85 so glad everything turned out ok! It must be such a relief knowing that you LO is going to keep cooking for a while!

  • @Allisun85  So glad you find out what's going on. I had my gall bladder out last summer and it was a super easy recovery. But the days I had attacks were some of the longest ever! (My only reference for pain that might be similar to labor and it has me scared) And doctors kept just telling me to take pepto or zofran thinning it was just a random stomach ache. I finally called my pcp and said " I need a referral to a gastroenterologist" and walked in to that appointment and said "I need a cholecystectomy" lol

Aw man. Sorry you're going through this. Gallstones were so incredibly painful for me. (Got the whole sucker out at 14w). The pain was unbearable. Unfortunately, these hormones can make things worse. I hope you feel better soon. I don't wish that on anyone.

    @Car0liiine
yup, I second everything you said. Spot on.
