First fertility clinic appointment

Been TTC for 18 months. I have colitis and endometriosis.  We have our first fertility clinic appointment this week.  Not overly sure what to expect or how fast the process is going to be on getting things started. Any input or tips would be welcome!
Thanks

Hi! I'm sure the process for each RE is different and I've only seen one- however for my first appointment we discussed in great detail my medical history and the tests my OBGYN had already done...DH was with me so he discussed his medical history and went over his SA results (which DH did in their office about a week before the appointment) ...we did an ultrasound..... And set up a map of what the next phase of testing and treatment would look like...it all took probably about an hour

Make sure you can speak to your entire medical history...he pretty much wanted to know everything that ever happened from the time I got my period at 12 years old to present (34 years old) ...22 years of medical history is hard to recall on the spot lol

    good luck !!

I think it varies a lot between doctors and clinics.  My first appointment was really to get to know the RE and hear his initial thoughts given our medical history.  The only testing we had done before the appointment was Counsyl genetic screening with an OB when we first started TTC.  The RE talked about IUI and IVF options and what sorts of diagnoses would indicate various treatments.  After that appointment, DH scheduled a SA and then I had an HSG.  GL at the appointment!  I found it empowering to just be taking a step towards figuring out if we had any issues and seeking treatment, I hope you have a similar experience.

I was a little nervous and excited for mine, I guess I still feel that way when I go in! My appointment  was about an hour long and we discussed my medical history and some, very few, possible courses of action. My RE is REALLY into diagnostic testing to make sure we're not wasting time and money when an unknown variable is causing an issue. He explained all of the monitoring tests and answered all of my questions. My guy even draws pictures with colored pencils, seriously!

Over the next moth I went in about 6 times for ultrasounds, bloodwork, and an HSG. Then we met again to discuss the plan for the next cycle.

It will be great, just go in with a lot of questions and a notepad :)
