@Karenpreggo three weeks of age is a common growth spurt week. Many babies are more awake, more fussy, harder to soothe and eat way more (in quantity or frequency) during this time. The good news is that after that stage of the growth spurt occurs, they usually follow-up with an extra sleepy phase which is when all the growing takes place. Hang in there!
I wish I had seen this a week ago; we just hit 4 weeks and the last few days/nights have been tough. Hoping that extra sleepy phase kicks in soon...
I highly recommend the book "Healthy Sleep Habits Happy Child." It's a highly rated book and helped me understand my girl's sleeping habits and needs. It breaks it down by age as well. It doesn't provide quick fixes but it can help you make some important decisions and support other ones you've already made. Good luck Mommas! Last night I found myself chanting that "it is only a phase and it will pass too" over and over again...lol
Can I just put it out there that skin to skin is still magically calming? DS2 had his lip tie clipped yesterday and the soreness caught up with him at witching hour so we had a super freak out (like post-immunization level). Just unbuttoning the top of his sleeper to put him chest to chest with me calmed him down instantly. I kept him there for about 10min, then he ate and went to sleep.
Took a walk and now trapped on the couch nursing my way through witching hours tonight. I haven't eaten dinner at the table in sooo long. Anyone else currently in WH?

Yes!! And she's never like this. I blame 6 week growth spurt!!
@yogahh ooooh you had it good! It doesn't bother me anymore, I got my game face on! H teases me because I get all hyped at 5:45 to mentally prepare myself. There will be fuss!
@ladysamlady ohhhh fussy buttons (dh's name for her) is in full effect!! We normally have some WH but never this bad. It's like I look at her wrong and it sets her off! And now that she is producing tears, the crying kills me even more

My dinner is still in the microwave from 2 hours ago. Baby will not let me up despite many tries, which results in only wanting to breastfeed to go back down. At this rate with all this extra milk baby will be in 12 month clothing.
So we had a bad storm with tornado warning come through right at the start of DD3s witching hours and shortly after DD1 (5 yrs old) and DD2 (2 yrs old) bedtime. We got through the storms safely but it's now 2 hours after normal bedtime, the big kids are trying to sleep in our bed because they freaked out and I'm still dealing with a screaming newborn.... It's going to be a loooong night
@slfezz Are you in Illinois or Indiana? We're getting hit with the storms now and I'm anticipating DD1 waking up any minute, so I'm just staying up until it passes.

Glad everyone is ok and hopefully getting sleep now!
I'm new to the witching hour. But it begins about five o'clock till early evening. Once he starts he is just cling cling to mommy. He naps through out the day and I noticed his milk content has gone down by .5 oz. his 5 weeks old and at times I wonder if his ok. I purchased the wonder weeks and so far it's been right on target with the baby
Re: Witching hour...or hours
I'm in Illinois near the Morris area. Luckily the tornado didn't get to close but was within 15 miles. Did you make it through the storms ok?
