Why is this the second time in two weeks that a boy mom is making a gross statement about her boy not being what she wanted?? Maybe be more excited about your baby and the person it will grow up to be? And stop worrying so much about getting what you want. Sorry if that sounds bitchy, but I'm sick of these gross statements. Imagine how your son will feel if he ever finds out you had it in you to say something like that.
what makes me mad as a pgal is that both of my losses as well as now with my daughter I would've killed for a healthy baby no matter the sex. a lot of the time people hope for one or the other but to dismiss it as something you really don't want is disgusting.
@mrszoess I fell asleep early on the sofa as usual so my baby girl made me miss it too! Just kidding haha I feel awful even blaming her (although it's probably pretty valid)
I guess this is an UO but I don't think there's anything wrong with wanting a certain sex over the other, especially if you already have the other one. What you need to do is acknowledge this feeling, accept it, and then move on. I found out recently that my father really wanted a boy but ended up with two girls. He never once made us feel that we were unwanted growing up and I actually didn't have any inkling of his initial desire until many years later when I was talking to him about my own pregnancy recently.
WORF: I did not come here to
admire the scenery.
DAX: If you say so. I guess we should just go
home.
WORF: Well maybe. I would not be so hasty.
DAX: I take it the scenery has improved?
WORF: A few months ago, when I was commanding
the Defiant on a scouting mission in the Gamma Quadrant, we encountered a
protostar cluster, a swirling mass of colour set against a background of
glowing clouds and burning sky. It was the most beautiful thing I had ever
seen, until now.
DAX: I've got to take you on vacation more
often.
also the tone.... the tone wasn't, we were hoping for a girl but are so excited about another boy!... which to your point @kathleenkat has potential to really hurt her LO down the road, if he finds out.
@waitingforbabies If you had read her posts, you would understand our reactions. She wasn't accepting and moving on. She posted the ultrasound picture and wanted us to tell her that there wasn't a penis there. Then justified her disappointment. I don't have a problem with people having preferences, I have a problem with people who are disappointed in their children because it's not what they wanted.
How come these sex disappointment posts always have to do with boys? WTF is wrong with having a boy? FWIW, I wanted this baby to be a girl so I could have one of each sex, but I would have been delighted to have another boy too. There's something special about the bond between brothers and it would have been nice for DS to experience that.
@PeggyOlsonFTW I asked my husband the same thing last night. A girl would've been nice since he has a son and we're done, but we didn't care THAT much. We're just excited to be having a baby together.
@PeggyOlsonFTW DH and I both initially wanted this baby to be a boy. DH's dad passed away in January and we always planned for our first son to be named after DH and FIL and be a "III". But we're having a girl and we are still over the moon excited.
@waitingforbabies The difference is that sure, a lot of people may have a preference but to be truly disappointed and this hung up about it take it to another level.

Agreed. I also initially was hoping for a girl since this is definitely my last baby and wanted to experience both, but now that I know we are having a boy, I'm excited because I know how close boys are with their moms from experience it with my son. I feel like with a girl Id be starting from scratch, but at least, I have a little experience to lean on when raising another boy (just wish they made more cute clothes the boys, feels like everything looks the same)
