Your Baby's Favorites

edited May 2016 in October 2015 Moms
Heeeey!

I'm curious about what foods you all have tried. At the moment, I'm pumping when I can and giving my daughter Honest formula. She's had butternut squash, green beans, peas, sweet potatoes, apples, bananas, mangoes (I think she may have an allergy), and a blend from Happy Baby with blueberries, apples, and oats. At this point she's liked everything. I'm excited to move on to others but still proceeding with caution. Is anyone making their own?

What does your baby like that s/he has tried?

Re: Your Baby's Favorites

  • Weve honestly tried everything. So far her favorite seems to be Ellas Kitchen spaghetti and meat sauce...
I was totally suprised to see it but she loved it.

Also anything with squash or bananas

She also loves gerber arrow root cookies.

  • We have tried just about everything. He loves anything we have really. If he can hold it and eat it himself he is happy
  • I'm pureeing for my daughter. She will be 7 months on Saturday--I've started leaving more texture though in the purees and she does great. Her faves are random blends I come up with (lol). She loves butternut squash (I add a little cinnamon), sweet potatoes and apples, peas, carrots, and corn, and green beans, she also loves anything I mix with avocado. I've also recently bought her the happy baby organic rice teething crackers and she LOVES those, as well as the happy baby organic puffs.
  • I have made all of the food for my boy so far.  So far he has had avocado, yams, banana, pears, peas, green beans, broccoli (HATED it), apples and oatmeal.  Carrots are next on the list.  Favorite is very obviously yams.  Pears and peas always go over well and I like to put avocado and banana in our Boon feeder and let him go to town.  He loves it.  Broccoli did not go well.  He gagged so hard his eyes watered, I tried a second bite, same deal!  I even tried mixing a tiny bit with the Yam and he spit it out.

My LOs current favourite is strawberries. I just give them to him whole. I think he likes feeding himself
  • I was making my own purées in the beginning but LO always wanted to feed herself ... like literally had to hold the spoon every time (making a huge mess) and was always more interested in what we had.

So after two weeks of that, we decided to pursue Baby Led Weaning instead and she LOVES feeding herself. Honestly I was terrified of BLW (pediatrician said we could go that route if we wanted) but after reading the BLW book it made so much sense to me. We've been doing BLW for almost 3 weeks now and it's been so fun.

So far she loves chicken, onion, bell peppers, broccoli, asparagus, cheese tortellini, pasta, toast, blackberries, blueberries, strawberries, squash, quinoa, oatmeal, avocado, ground beef, watermelon, cantaloupe the list goes on and on.

    She dislikes apples, pears, bananas

  • Our lo hasn't refused anything yet (although she is not excited about peas alone) but if you mix anything with pears she's all about it! We're starting meat in a couple of weeks between 8 and 9 months and after that I might just start pureeing whatever we're eating. I buy stage 2 Gerber organic pouches and beechnut jars.

What are you using to puree his food? I've been looking for a processor that I can use for everything, not just baby.
