I had my residency graduation dinner last night and it was a lot of fun but I was way too sober to be out so late.   And I got a charley horse when I was sleeping...not wearing heels for the rest of the summer!

  • I got up to use the bathroom around 5 am this morning and there was a spider that was pretty much what I picture death to look like on the shower wall. I stared at it for probably 5 mins deciding on how to handle things and ended up washing him down the drain. Now I'm hoping he doesn't come back with a vengeance.

@Mrsrundell  omg that is amazing  <3:)<3

  • @lynnlove28 were you able to go back to sleep? I would be terrified. When I was little I used to think things (snakes, lizards, etc) might crawl out of the toilet and get me while I was using it. I still struggle with this from time to time!

  • @LWC1112 I wasn't able to fall back asleep until DH got up to shower for work. I told him to keep an eye out because he may try to come back for revenge. There's no sign of him now so hopefully he's dead.
  • @LWC1112 I am so glad you shared you "fear" because I really thought I was the only person in the world who had these thoughts lol. I do NOT use port-o-pottys unless it is an emergency and even then it causes a small panic attack.
  • @jamiesc58 oh ya, port-o-pottys bring on a whole new level of fear!

  • I signed up for an Ipsy monthly glam bag and I'm pretty excited to get my first one. I've pretty much always used the same products so I'm ready to try some new things out. Does anyone else subscribe to ipsy or one similar? I feel like we've discussed this before maybe but I can't remember.

I've used Ipsy for about a year and a half now. I love it! The good thing about Ipsy is, you can rate the stuff you get so you get less of what you don't like or use and get more of what you want.

This month's bag saved me from having to buy mascara. That's always a plus!
  • It's 88 degrees outside and our airconditioning at work isn't working.... Seriously.

@Lynnlove28 I've had Birchbox for a few years now. I like it -- mostly because I get to try things before I buy. I've always had so many beauty products that I buy and then never use because they don't work like I'd hoped, and it's a waste of money. I don't end up buying many of the products from Birchbox because they're high-end and pricey, but at least when I do, I know that I'll like it. Most of the time I just enjoy using the samples and then when they're done, they're done.

The one downside is it can create quite a bit of clutter with all of these little samples arriving every month. I need to discipline myself to just toss the ones that I'm not in love with, but I keep thinking maybe they'll come in handy.

I also have birchbox and I love it--fun to try a few new things that I wouldn't normally buy. I did add myself to a wait list for a Sephora box that is supposed to be like Ipsy. I am pretty excited for that, because I love my Sephora products and I can build the rewards points and usually find something nice when I have enough points.

  • At the bike shop for DH. He's getting his own road bike for the first time and it looks so nice! I can't wait to be able to get back into shape again. Cycling, swimming, and running. I have a beach cruiser with the cutest basket in the front but seeing DH's new road bike got me thinking of getting a hybrid or something. Maybe this is a phase but being here definitely makes me want to be super active!!
  • At what age do you guys think it's ok to take a baby to an amusement park? Something like Disneyland or universal studios? Also I live about 15 minutes from universal and like 45 minutes from disneyland - if that makes a difference in the answer.

You mean on smaller rides or just in general?  If just in general then you could go once the baby has its shots important  (so like 2ish months?). That's no different than bringing them to the mall (actually is probably better since it's outside!).

also, I'm jealous you live so close to Disenyland. I'd be there weekly to see World of Color if that were me lol
  • Disney channel is playing all of their original movies this weekend and I have some of my old favorites recording. I'm currently watching Quints, where the girls mom has 5 babies, I'm thanking my lucky stars that Im only having one baby.
  • @curls919 just in general - no rides or anything.. So basically, me and my sister love Harry potter so we had talked about going to the new Harry potter land at universal studios once the baby is like 6-8 months old.  I mentioned it to hubby and he got kinda upset saying that was too young and there is no reason to take such a small baby to an amusement park.  He said like 1.5-2 years is appropriate! His reasoning was overstimulation and napping during the day.  I didn't think it was a big deal and was curious to other people's opinion about it.

@Mrsrundell, I would think 6 months would be a good age as long as you plan for plenty of breaks and not too much heat exposure.  It may be easier to baby wear or keep in the stroller - once the baby is mobile (crawling/walking) then they want to get out and about. I'm sure I would cringe at my kiddo touching the floors/surfaces at an amusement park at a very young age.

ETA: I've not been to any of the parks in Florida, just maybe consider if there will be excessive noise or very loud sounds in shows, etc.

@Nikkoli98 That sounds like a good deal! I can't wait to wash all of ours and hang them up officially. I think I am still in denial that I will be giving birth in just a few months.

  • @Nikkoli98 if it makes you feel better, we're not doing anything for the nursery until we move in July! But I'm also jealous of all the nesting everyone gets to do, I can't wait to get organized when we move!

@Mrsrundell Honestly, the younger baby is, the easier it will be. They sleep more, don't need to be entertained as much, and are just generally more portable. Like PP said, the older baby gets the harder it will be to nap on the go and keep from being overstimulated. At 1.5-2 years you will be restricted by naps (lots of kids that age won't nap on the go) and needing entertainment, getting crabby, etc.  If you're really wanting to do it, I'd go once baby has 2 month shots. Obviously keep baby in stroller or carrier with adequate sun protection. :)

This pregnancy has turned me into a hermit. I am very close to my family and enjoy spending time with them, but lately I don't want anything to do with anyone besides DH and my kiddos. I almost feel like I'm babysitting other people when I'm with them. Especially my mom and MIL. And I sure as heck can't handle strangers in town right now.
Edited because, well, I suck at words.
  • Driving from DC to VA for some home away from home b&b for the night but traffic is a disaster! Note to self: Do not travel on Sunday Memorial Day wknd. Rolling thunders are everywhere and I am so scared of getting into accidents!!! Oh and hello again, rain! It's either rain or scorching hot this month.
  • @AliKay20 my sister lives in PA and has to drive thru DC to go to work everyday and she always talks about how horrendous the traffic is. I couldn't imagine living up there with the traffic.

Random question but when you go into labor how do they check or know if baby is head down and posterior or anterior? Just by manually feeling?
  • @AliKay20 we're leaving first thing in the morning tomorrow, right when the storms are supposed to hit us. I'm dreading being in the car through the storm and the traffic!

  • Rolling over is so painful! I feel like I'm getting punched in the pelvic bone every time I move when I'm lying in bed.
Omg I'm so glad you said that!!! I feel like I've rode a bike for 6 days straight lately!!! The crotch pain is really starting to piss me off!

  • Is anyone else just feeling absolutely miserable all the sudden? I feel like the day the third trimester came I got slammed with new symptoms. I just feel awful. Thankful I'm still pregnant and hoping to go full term! Just feeling awful and wondering how I'll make it 11 more weeks.

Random question but when you go into labor how do they check or know if baby is head down and posterior or anterior? Just by manually feeling?
Well the answer used to be Leopold's maneuvers, palpating in 4 different ways to determine the presenting part (i.e. head versus bottom, etc).  I don't think the head position (anterior / posterior, etc) can be determined by palpation until after the cervix is fully (mostly) dilated and then the baby's skull bones are felt to assess the direction of the head.

I don't know for sure - but I would guess popping an U/S on when you arrive to L and D is probably easier, faster, possibly more accurate, and thus probably a pretty common approach.
  • @squishy0511 -  With dd1 my Ob could tell she was head down just by feeling my belly.  They weren't 100% sure about anterior or posterior until I was in labor.  Due to how my labor progressed and the horrible back labor, they knew baby was posterior.

Yes! It's the worst when I have to get up or out of bed. I've cried probably 4 times in the past two weeks from the pain and discomfort I am in just get up out of bed. I literally can't get out of bed without feeling pain and discomfort. Icing on the cake is the rolling on my side I have to do just to get out lol.
  • @Nikkoli98 I was wondering if they did ultrasounds then.. It would definitely make sense!

@Sekerambo oh wow!! My little guy is posterior in all of the ultrasounds but I know they can and will keep flipping.. But it got me thinking about how they would know when I actually go into labor  :#
