GTKY: If you're working how long is your maternity leave? Is it paid? Are you planning on going back to work afterwards? What are your child care plans if you do go back to work?12 weeks paid..our company upped it with my son it was only 6 weeks paid... i will take the full 12 weeks and maybe some vacation days on top of it to extend it longer. We are switching my son to a center in a couple weeks we had been using a in home with him since he was a baby... Im not looking for the huge increase in cost but will be nice for him to get some more education and someone to help us with potty training.

Rants/Raves/Symptoms?
Feet are permanently swollen, naps are my new favorite exercise. Baby has been active and I am enjoying that as of now, its great to feel all her little movements. Also, my craving for the past few weeks has been orange gatorade. Pre-pregancy I liked the occasional gatorade (blue of course, I thought orange was gross), now it is all I want besides water.

I work for the federal government, so there is no paid leave, you have to save up your sick and annual leave. You can only use 6 weeks sick leave for recovery from a vaginal birth (8 weeks from C-section) because the government does not consider bonding with baby as a reason for the use of sick leave. Long story short, I have enough leave to take 10 weeks. I am going back to work and my husband and I are on 4 different waiting lists for day cares within walking distance to where we live. Has anyone else been given the run around by day cares? When we go on tours everyone is like we have plenty of space, then when we drop off the paperwork and registration fee we get the well call us in August and we will let you know, can you just give a future mama some peace of mind!?!

At this point, it doesn't seem to matter which side I lay on, my hips start hurting within 30 minutes. At this point, I just hope I fall asleep before I start to feel uncomfortable.

I'll have about 9.5 weeks of leave built up by the time of my due date. I'm trying not to use all of it so that I still have leave for future doctor's appointments and such so planning on taking 6-7 weeks off. Where I work has a day care right next to the parking lot of my work so we'll be sending our little one there but her spot won't be available until Sept. 5th (that first Monday of the month). Therefore, we may have to have family come in that last week or two to help watch her until she can start day care.

12 weeks paid; can take up to 16. I am going back and my mother will be the care taker. The way she put it was, "So, when you go back to work, I get to watch the baby, right?"

Rants/Raves/Symptoms? Just general discomfort, throwing up again, tired. Normal stuff. I keep telling DH that I am worried my feet are going to pop with how swollen they are.
GTKY: If you're working how long is your maternity leave? Is it paid? Are you planning on going back to work afterwards? What are your child care plans if you do go back to work? I work in education so I am off over the summer anyway, but that is the only time I will get off. Normally we do not get any paid time off, I just happened to get pregnant at the perfect time. If I stay with this job I will have to go back 7 weeks after my due date, if I switch jobs it will be about 6 weeks.
