Is this labor?

I've had prodromal labor for about a week, but today contractions are much closer together but ranging from 3-8 minutes apart. Is this just BH or real labor? Accompanied by a dull back ache and period cramps. I'm a FTM and can't tell! Any ideas or advice??

Last contractions have been spaced out like this: (most recent at the top)
3 min
3min
7min

6min

Um, I would say you need to go to L&D. Anytime contractions are that frequent you need to go to the hospital.
  • How long has it been going on? How intense are they (i.e. can you carry on a conversation)?

You should check out this thread. You'll know if it's real labor.

But, call L&D and they'll tell you what to do or if your OB office is still open then call them.

  • if you are in labor you won't be able to walk or talk and will probably hunch over
  • Are they lasting 1 min each? My midwives instructions for FTM are to call and come in at 3-4 min apart lasting 1 min each.

  • I've had BH that close together but they are not labor. Are they really painful? Can you talk through them? Either way, doesn't hurt to call your OB and ask for advice, but like the old cliché, you'll know when it is real contractions and not BH! Good luck- keep us posted!
