I have a question for third time+ moms, how did you introduce your kids to the new baby?
DD will only be 22 months when LO is bored so I'm starting to think about how she is gonna be when we are in the hospital. I know I'm gonna be there 2-3 nights, DD is staying with my parents and they want to be there when LO is born. How did your kids take LO and do you have any reccomendations? Am I just over thinking it?
@Lynnlove28 I'm glad you asked this question! Wondering the same thing as DD will also be 22 mo when new baby arrives. I've probably been overthinking it too. Our current plan is having our ILs stay at our house while we are in the hospital and have them come to the hospital with DD to visit every day. I know she'll be fine but I've never spent a night apart from DD so I'm a little nervous.
@justaudrey I know! The longest DD has been away from us is one night so I know that 2-3 will be a little rough even though she sees my parents everyday and loves them. I still worry.
@1faceinacrowd holy crap, you win. Your daughters grandma sounds out of touch with reality.

Welp. On the way home from school our bus was rear-ended while we were at a dead stop. I don't think we were hit that hard, just more scary than anything. I had my legs stupidly propped up in front of me on the wheel well so my knees kind of pushed into my stomach? The baby was moving around like crazy right after so I'm assuming everything is fine. She's been moving around since too. I don't think it was serious enough to go to the doctor? I guess I'll see how I feel over the next couple of hours.
@Hannah0726 how scary! I'm sure baby is fine, but if you are worried I would go in, just for some peace of mind. I'm a knee proper upper too while sitting on the couch or sometimes riding as a passenger. It's just so darn comfortable! Guess I better quit doing that too, although with this growing belly i won't be able to sit like that much longer.

We have this temp in our office who is a huge health food nut. She refuses to eat produce that isn't organic and non-gmo, and only shops at Natural Grocers. She is very adamant about it. It's kind of an issue whenever we're ordering food for the office. But then she drinks a Red Bull every afternoon.... how does that work with this whole natural/organic thing? I mean I know, to each their own, but....
My mom finally got her surgery scheduled after she hired a lawyer to deal with the workmans comp bs. They were dragging their feet for days and this surgery should've happened weeks ago but they wouldn't approve the referral to the ortho without several visits to the urgent care doctor. It amazes me how insurance companies pretty much don't care. It's on Tuesday though and she goes in for her pre op appointment tomorrow, I can tell she's nervous. FX everything goes smoothly!
Oh my word. This app makes me cranky! I just wite this big long thing and it didn't post... @Lynnlove28 Long story short... When DS2 was born, we made every effort to allow DS1 to be as involved as he wanted to be with brother. When they met at the hospital for the first time, I made sure someone else was holding the baby so he could come straight to me for some cuddles first. Then, when he was ready, he met his brother. I think of you just follow your daughters lead, it will go pretty smoothly. Try not to overthink it too much. Hope that helps at least a little.
We ended up in Labor and Delivery yesterday with contractions 11 minutes apart for 12+ hours. Luckily the doctors were able to stop the contractions, AND no fluid was lost, AND I hadn't dilated (all good things!) I am hanging out at 50% effacement, my cervix shortened to 2cm, but they kept me for several hours and there was no noticeable change, so the priority was getting the contractions to stop. They said the effacement, in and of itself was okay, they'll just want to monitor me a bit more... I could easily hang out there for several weeks with out any change. They gave me something to stop the contractions, and something to force me to sleep, and feeling much better today. So far, not a single contraction today. About 10 pm last night the doctor came in and said "Great news! You get to go home tonight." I was like - I didn't realize NOT going home was an option! Glad I didn't or I would have been way more scared the whole day.
I had a firm talk with my son about being an August Baby on the way home. I told him we could compromise on July, but May is absolutely off the table.
The doctors are pretty sure it's the anti seizure drug I take causing this, so I won't be taking it any more. I was off it for my first tri, so it should be okay... FX. I have an appointment with the MFM next week, and we'll talk about where we go from here.
@Allisun85 I am so relieved that baby is doing well and still cozy! Do they have an alternative for you for a seizure medication? I laughed a little about your firm talk with him about the soonest he allowed to arrive is July. Haha!
All of these pre-term labor stories are making me have my sh*t just got real moment. I'm not gonna lie, I started packing my bag a little this morning.

@lynnlove28 T&P for a smooth recovery! My best friend is going through the same workmans comp BS. She should have had surgery when the injury first happened, and now she is dealing with all these complications from delaying it. Ugh!
She finally told the doctor to go ahead and schedule it using her health insurance and is going to let the insurance companies duke it out.
Ridiculous, I am sorry your mom is going through this... There is something wrong when the doctor is pushing for surgery, but has their hands tied until the okay comes through from bureaucrats without a medical degree...
I don't know that I want to chance any other medications. I managed to make it through the whole TTC period and the first tri with only one bad episode at 14 weeks, and I started this medication at 20 weeks. The neurologist suggested Lyrica... I want to talk to the MFM before I take anything else though for sure.
I admit, the midwife was talking me through a contraction and I started crying "No no no! I haven't taken the class yet, I don't know what I am doooooing!" Which apparently was funny. To everyone else. Also not helpful was my husband watching the little paper, and mid contraction saying "Oh wow! You hit the top of the paper on that one!"
@Allisun85 so glad you're doing well!! I had the same talk with my little guy on Wednesday, Anything before July is not permitted I hope your LO stays put for a while longer!
@Allisun85 I'm glad they got the contractions stopped! All these preterm labor stories are scary! At least they think they found the cause of it and now FX for an uneventful rest of pregnancy!
I love that you're negotiating with the baby, @allisun85, and that it sounds like you're keeping your sense of humor. FX he'll stay put and that the rest of your pregnancy goes smoothly. Hang in there mama!
I know I am behind on this but I just read the "Grandma Shower" thread and the "I can feel her breathing" thread on the June board. "WOW" is all I have to say about that.
@kristynmac I love that shirt! What shop is it from? I think I'm an etsy addict.

@Allisun85 I'm glad DS is still baking and the doctors were able to stop the contractions! Fingers crossed he stays in there until at least July without any episodes for you!
@Lynnlove28 Fingers crossed everything went well for your mom!
Our one year anniversary is in 10 days. We looked through DH's phone pics & videos (because they're still in there and there's not much activity going on with him & his phone...ever) from days leading up to our wedding, wedding day, and honeymoon.
MAJOR FLASHBACK FRIDAY going on for the both of us. Now we're just lying in bed wondering how much things have changed in just a year.

@midwestbaby I feel the same! I'm taking an international flight home at 29 weeks and returning at 31 weeks. This baby needs to stay put!
@Allisun85 - I'm so glad they were able to stop contractions. That must have been so scary. Hoping he stays put until August.
We really don't need any more babies making early appearances. Way too many mommas are dealing with hospital visits and bed rest.
