What is baby's bedtime?

At 3.5 months we start bedtime routine around 8/8:30 and generally asleep by 9. Most of the time wakes once between 9 and 6.
What is your baby's age and bedtime?

@jrouge12 do you guys have a set bedtime routine that lets her know it's time for sleep?  Once we established a ritual, it got a lot easier to get DS to sleep at a reasonable hour.
  • Lol! Violet will be 4 months next week and i still have no idea how to get her on any kind of nap/bed time schedule

Nap schedule we don't have. It all depends on when she wakes up and she can usually only stay up 1.5-2 hours before she needs a nap.
  • @jrouge12 you can try slowly putting her down a half hour earlier each day. Or start waking her up earlier and hope she'll go to bed earlier. Not saying it'll work but its worth a shot!

Thank you, ladies. I really need to read how it is going with everyone.

Recently yes. She used to be good. Once asleep she was done for the night. But the last few weeks shes been hard to put down. Falls asleep in our arms then wakes when we put her in her crib. We used to be able to keep her in her crib and just give her the soother and put our hand on her chest and rock her a bit and she would fall back asleep but that doesnt even work anymore. Then when shes back asleep she wakes up within half an hour. Not sure what the deal is but its super annoying! You think they are down and they get back up!

@cali1710 that's EXACTLY what he does and he never used to either! Maybe it's a part of the whole sleep regression thing who knows. I was reading somewhere a big cause of it is insufficient naps which I'm sure he has. He won't nap anywhere near the amount of time they recommend and the naps he does take are a fight lol
  • 14 weeks and we try to go to bed by 9. Sometimes she's got other ideas but we've been doing better. The last week she's been waking up between 1 and 3 a.m. crying and needing to eat. But then she's back asleep and wakes up about 8 or 9

15 weeks and bed time is 9-9:30. But she wakes 4-5 times most nights still, so I'm thinking we are going to start transitioning to an earlier bedtime.
  • @nackie We did but it never seemed to make a difference. We could go through the routine and she'd fall asleep for a short nap but be up again. I'm thinking of getting back into it and trying massage this time. Thanks!

@cali1710 I think I'll try that. Thank you!

Nap schedules are far more tough here too. We are still feeling her out but we are starting to be able to put her down for a nap in the morning (maybe an hour) and generally a longer nap later in the day. Every day is somewhat different but we are working on it.

She fights naps soooo hard. Its terrible. Takes me an hour to get her to nap and it only lasts 30 min!

Maybe one day they will meet and discuss how funny it was that they never napped and woke up all night long lol
  • This makes me feel way off. My LO goes to bed around 10:00. my husband works late so he would be so mad if he only got a hour or so with him every night. Plus I get to have morning time to clean my house and such. He's on a to the t schedule but he just stays up late I guess.

If your baby is STTN and not waking up a billion times, then I would say this is working for you guys and wouldn't change a thing! But if LO wakes a ton, then everything I have read suggests that step one is an earlier bedtime to get babies more in synch with natural sun/melatonin rhythms, etc.
