Turned over to stomach overnight for first time!

Woke up this morning and looked at our video monitor and it looked like our 3 mo old baby was flipped on his stomach in the corner of his crib!  I went into his room and sure enough he was on his stomach. We have never seen him flip over! I'm terrified of SIDS and have been nervous since we moved him into his crib a couple weeks ago. I know if he is strong enough to flip over he should be fine. He has a very strong neck but I am still nervous!! Anyone else have flippers yet?

  • Angel care monitor, snuza, or owlet monitor...all are breathing monitors. We had angel car with our first baby (who is now 4) and have a snuza now. They give us a huge piece of mind.
Praying this is our take home baby. STICK TURKEY Mommy will miss you everyday my beautiful angel. We love you Lilypie Angel and Memorial tickers M/C on 1/05/11 at 11 weeks.

My LO is 12 weeks today, and while he is a serial side-turner, he has yet to flip onto his belly. I'm also terrified of SIDS as it pertains to that, but his pediatrician is adamant that, once he's strong enough to flip, we shouldn't worry.
  • My little guy just started rolling to his belly today, hasn't done it in bed yet. This is #4 for me and once they started rolling I didn't worry too much about them.

Thanks all!  Trying not to worry too much. I can obsess on the monitor when I wake up at night. I'd like to see him roll over sometime when we're all awake. I'd hate to think he is struggling to make it happen at night and I'm sleeping.  They grow so fast!!

  • If you haven't stopped it akready, make sure you're no longer swaddling LO. When they start to roll, swaddlers and loose blankets can become dangerous. Other than that, try not to worry! Not that DD1 ever slept on her own, but our pedi said that once she started to roll on her own, not to worry about going in and flipping her to her back.

You can roll up two small towels and put them on either side of his body under the sheet to keep him on his back for a little longer. Worked great with my first.
