  • How many weeks are you?
    17. :)

    How big is baby?
Baby is the size of a yummy eclair!

    Upcoming appointments?
On May 14, next Saturday, we have our anatomy scan!  So excited! :)

    Rants/Raves/Questions:
Been feeling baby move every now and then, and it's so amazing!  Rant:  my areolas have like doubled in size and they are SO DARK.  wtf?  They are becoming National Geographic boobs.

GTKY: What's your favorite slow cooker and/or "Sunday supper" meal to cook?
Ah on Sundays, S.O. and I love to braise beef ribs and freeze 2-3 meals out of it.  We bust out the Le Creuset and braise some beef with tomato sauce + red wine + fennel + onions + celery + carrots.  Delish!  We eat it with crusty bread, or polenta or my favorite: pappardelle noodles.

How big is baby? I don't know because no one else has posted yet - yes I copy instead of looking it up myself ;)

Upcoming appointments? Regular OB appointment this coming Tuesday. Ususally there wouldn't be an ultrasound but I'm hoping that because I'm still having cramping my OB will do a quick ultrasound check and I'll get to see the little guy.

Rants/Raves/Questions: Definitely not happy about the cramping. It's no longer every day and not as bad but seriously, the best part of pregnancy was supposed to be the LACK of period cramping...

GTKY: What's your favorite slow cooker and/or "Sunday supper" meal to cook? I do not and have never owned a slow cooker (though I would love to have one!) My favorite takes-a-long-time meal is gulasch (almost the same as Hungarian pörkölt) with homemade spätzle. Dunno how to translate that so here's a picture:

That's spätzle! They are like thick egg noodles. (I make them with flour, egg and milk)

@LGW2015 I also love sauerbraten but it's out of my cooking ability range - that's what German MILs are for ;)

  • How many weeks are you? 15!

How big is baby?  The size of an avocado or navel orange.

Upcoming appointments?  Just had an ultrasound and monthly checkup this week so I'm all done until my anatomy scan on the 26th.

Rants/Raves/Questions:  Just glad this week is over and hoping to get a bit of rest over the weekend and get some more energy soon!

GTKY: What's your favorite slow cooker and/or "Sunday supper" meal to cook?  We really like doing different kinds of chili in the slow cooker.  We also like doing barbacoa tacos, and we have a chicken curry recipe that we really like too.

    15!

    How big is baby?
Baby is the size of a navel orange or an eclair, depending on my current craving :)

    Upcoming appointments?
Our anatomy scan is on June 3. I just had a belly check on Wednesday and got to hear the beautiful heartbeat.

    Rants/Raves/Questions:
Bring on the nice weather! It was over 80 and sunny today- and I had to work for most of it. Tomorrow it's supposed to be 60s and rainy. Womp womp.

GTKY: What's your favorite slow cooker and/or "Sunday supper" meal to cook?
When I'm feelin my oats I like to do smoked baby back ribs. I give them tons of babysitting throughout the day, so they are pretty exclusively a Sunday dish. I even make my own BBQ sauce for the occasion. Unfortunately for all parties I have NOT been feelin it, so unless I get a major uptick in energy there are probably no ribs in our immediate future.

How many weeks are you? 18 weeks 3 days now (was 18 weeks on Friday)

How big is baby? The size of a sweet potato.

Upcoming appointments? We had our anatomy scan on Thursday.

Rants/Raves/Questions: We are having a GIRL! She was moving and kicking around but I hadn't felt her yet. We have to go back in a month to do more measurements because she wouldn't move in the direction they needed her to, haha. As a Mothers' Day present, I finally got to feel her kick!

GTKY: What's your favorite slow cooker and/or "Sunday supper" meal to cook? We call it Awesome Chicken because it is SO GOOD. Boneless chicken breasts in the crockpot with a can of cream of mushroom and cream of chicken, salt, pepper, 1 tbs Worsh. sauce, and garlic. Cook on low for 6+ hours. 30 minutes before serving, cut up a block of cream cheese and put in the crockpot. Stir before serving. I usually serve it with mashed potatoes.

Upcoming appointments? 5/18/16, cervical length check and check on baby Wyatt.

Rants/Raves/Questions: Does anyone else feel like their kids are never happy enough with what they have?  Like, you could give them the moon, the stars, all the planets.....and then would be unhappy it wasn't the entire galaxy.  Sometimes kids are so ungrateful.

@TheMillerHighLife this could be totally off-topic and I am a FTM so you can take what I say with a grain of salt haha but from my experience with my little cousins, it often seems like when my cousins are constantly "wanting" things and it's never enough it's because they're really just pushing boundaries to see where the line is. When talking with my parents, my dad always said about how when my brother was little it was really hard for my dad to learn that giving my brother everything he wanted (or infinite choices about what he wanted) wasn't what would make him happy. In the end, my toddler brother craved boundaries and structure and that's what made him happier and reduced his stress. My aunt and uncle definitely don't understand this concept. Their children crave boundaries, it's very clear. But they don't have consistency. So they demand things, constantly want something new and as soon as they get it they're on to the next thing. Because it was never really about that one thing. They're testing their boundaries and have yet to find them. It's a pretty miserable situation. I know my aunt and uncle are doing it out of the idea that giving the kids what they want will make them happy but really what children need is consistency and for the parents to be the parents and take on the responsibility of saying when something is ok and when it is not.

On the other hand, children are children and to a certain extent unable to appreciate things in the way adults do (although I know a lot of adults who do this too haha) so I'm sure part of it is unavoidable, and I'm sure frustrating as the parent. So if I completely took your comment and ran with it in a completely different direction, my apologies!

ETA: just want to make it clear that none of the above was directed at you! Your comment just got me thinking about my experiences and the people in my life :)
