1. How much weight did you gain in the pregnancy? I gained 49 pounds.
2. If you've weighed post baby, how much of that do you still have left to lose? I just have to lose 10 more pounds.
3. What are some healthy snack/s or meal/s you think will help you reach your goals? None. I've been eating the same way as I did before and during pregnancy.
4. How do you plan to ease back into activity after you are healed enough to do so? I will take walks for the beginning and then start with actual exercise with the baby as soon as I'm cleared for it.
5. What exercise did you do before pregnancy? During pregnancy? I ran around a lot. Not so much scheduled exercise but I was always on my feet. During pregnancy- same thing. On my feet and squats. Many many squats.
6. Any questions, comments, rants or raves? Just can't wait to get this uterus back to its usual size.
2. If you've weighed post baby, how much of that do you still have left to lose?
17 pounds. Somehow, the day I left the hospital I was only down 1 pound! How is this possible?!? I have lost most of my belly, but feel very "puffy" which I didn't feel at all during pregnancy. Wondering if it's all of the fluids they pumped into me? Whatever the reason is, it's lame.
3. What are some healthy snack/s or meal/s you think will help you reach your goals?
I end up eating/snacking all day so we don't usually have "meals" unless DH is around. For now we have a bunch of freezer meals I made for those days and on other nights I usually make a sandwich or soup.
Ricotta with honey and fruit. Smoothies (I make fruit packs in advance and throw them in the freezer, I also add avocado and hemp seeds for protein and fat). Coffee! I add coconut milk, it has lots of good fats. Avocado toast, easy, doesn't require cooking. Yogurt with granola and fruit PBJ! String cheese. I keep water bottles full in the fridge. Mint iced tea. Nuts (small packs from Trader Joe's). Muffins (I make a giant batch and freeze half). Hummus plates (I add roasted peppers, dolmas, feta, marcona almonds, artichoke hearts, roasted eggplant, pita, olives).
4. How do you plan to ease back into activity after you are healed enough to do so?
Taking LO out for walks to start. Ran a half marathon while pregnant, but I don't anticipate being able to jump right back in where I left off. I have registered for a 5K three months from now to get me back in the game.
5. What exercise did you do before pregnancy? During pregnancy?
1. How much weight did you gain in the pregnancy? Around 12 lbs - not a humble brag. I had a two month preemie and was hospitalized for three months prior to his birth on strict bed rest. I had to eat a strict but very nutrient dense diet to maximize what was left of my placenta and lost all the muscle mass in my body. I want to participate in this thread rather than starting a separate one for exercise specific goals, so I hope my post won't be construed as humble bragging.
2. If you've weighed post baby, how much of that do you still have left to lose?
As I don't have weight loss goals, I'm answering this question instead: "What would I like to accomplish/change with/about my body post partum?" I would like to gain back muscle mass and strength. A few days before I was hospitalized, I was able to do 40 chest to bar pull ups; I'm now unable to do even one regular chin up. I have a lot of aches and pains throughout my body from lack of basic strength and endurance. I also want to restore the vitamin/mineral/nutrient loss from loss of blood/lack of weight bearing exercise/lack of sunshine etc.
3. What are some healthy snack/s or meal/s you think will help you reach your goals?
a) eat red meat or oysters min 3 times a week b) eat salmon or another fatty fish min 2 times a week c) drink collard green/kale/spinach smoothies min 3 times a week
4. How do you plan to ease back into activity after you are healed enough to do so?
a) Initially start out by charging my fitbit again and logging 8,000 - 10,000 steps a day. Sleep does trump walking so if I pull an all nighter with baby any day, I'm excused from this time consuming goal. I'd also like to incorporate light hiking into this activity.
b) In addition to walking, I will used my home gym to build up basic strength as it is convenient in terms of location and child care (I just bring the stroller down with me and it's usually empty midday). My workouts are pretty basic at this point. This week I've gone twice and a sample workout was: 1 mile treadmill run, 25 push ups, 5 twenty second planks, 50 squats with two 10lb dumbbells, 50 overhead push presses with two 10lb dumbbells. I broke all the weighted/bodyweight exercises into 5 rounds. Every muscle/joint in my body ached after the first workout.
c) After I feel like I've built up some basic strength again, I hope to then attend some local crossfit and weightlifting classes.
5. What exercise did you do before pregnancy? During pregnancy?
Before pregnancy and, up until 19 weeks, I crossfitted 2 - 3 times a week and walked 10,000 steps a day. 20 weeks onward, I was on strict bedrest until my son was born. I was cleared to exercise 8 weeks PP.
6. Any questions, comments, rants or raves? I'm so, so excited to even go for my old walks again. The logistics of childcare and exercises classes is a bit overwhelming though. I also am really struggling with just how much basic strength I've lost. It is hard to figure out which weights to use/not use. An older lady started yelling at me to stop doing sit ups post partum as they will destroy my back. Has anyone been warned of that? Also, squats feel very, very weird. Things don't feel the same as before.
2. I was about to my prepregnancy weight about a week and a half after giving birth to LO. I was a little overweight before getting pregnant so I'd like to lose the extra weight by exercising and eating better once I'm healed up.
3. Since I'm breastfeeding, I'm trying to eat more healthy. I always have my vegetable for dinner and a glass of milk at least once a day. I push the fruits more than juices or sweets. To be honest, I've had to force myself to eat. I have really bad allergies and besides the stuffed up, runny nose, and swollen, tender nose (I feel like I got punched in the face), I also have zero appetite. So, I have been taking my allergy medicine and eating healthy even though I don't feel hungry.
4. I'd like to do swimming once I am back to exercising. I also do a lot of walking and I'd like to incorporate some strength training.
5. Before and during pregnancy it was just walking.

Hey there - I hear you on the muscle loss! My last pregnancy was a preterm delivery, and I didn't have any weight to lose once I left the hospital. This time around, I did gain 30lbs, but my muscle mass is still very decreased as I was activity restricted , and before that, hyperemesis kicked my butt. My plan to begin is to walk with the double stroller for the twins and carrier for the infant.
Mama to Three Girls: Twins born March 2014 at 26 weeks due to preterm labor and our 37weeker born May 9th, 2016!
1. How much weight did you gain in the pregnancy? I gained 30 pounds.
2. If you've weighed post baby, how much of that do you still have left to lose? I have 15 more lbs to lose, but I'd like to lose 20lbs. More importantly, I'd like to feel better, build muscle strength and stamina, and feel energized.
3. What are some healthy snack/s or meal/s you think will help you reach your goals? Go back to pre-pregnancy eating habits. Eat more salads and veggies while watching sweets consumption.
4. How do you plan to ease back into activity after you are healed enough to do so? I'm 2 weeks post-op from delivery. I feel very good, and I've taken several short walks - probably 3/4mile. Yesterday, I took the 3 kids out by myself, and I'm paying for it today. I may not have been ready to lift the twins and load/unload the double stroller. I felt fine at the time, but my incision started aching more last night.
5. What exercise did you do before pregnancy? During pregnancy? before: walking hilly neighborhood with double stroller, general toddler twin chasing, elliptical & weights at the gym, yoga during: nothing. Hyperemesis kicked my butt and preterm labor symptoms curbed my abilities for the rest of the pregnancy.
6. Any questions, comments, rants or raves? I know I'm not the only one trying to get enough rest. I'd like to get enough rest to heal, breastfeed, and care for my family properly. Rest also helps my emotional health - but so does walking/exercise!

I'm now down 24 lbs out of 50. I think that's the extent of my water weight/baby/blood loss. I'm now 2.5 weeks PP and most of my achyness is gone. I've gone for a couple of walks but just getting the energy to grab LO, get dressed, get downstairs, and pull out the stroller seems overwhelming. I'm not sleeping much--like most of us. Hopefully it'll get better.
1. How much weight did you gain in the pregnancy? I gained 35 pounds
2. If you've weighed post baby, how much of that do you still have left to lose? Inexplicably, I'm down 28 pounds, with 7 left to go. I have been sweating like CRAZY at night, so I think I've lost all the extra fluid and I'm down to just the extra poundage I gained for fat stores, etc.
3. What are some healthy snack/s or meal/s you think will help you reach your goals? I like like to eat good fats as I think they satiate me well. I eat almonds every day and lots of avocado. I eat a lot of olive oil, too, in the form of roasted veggies with olive oil, etc.. I just ate an apple with peanut butter for a snack. We recently bought a grill and I'm a big fan of cedar-plank grilled salmon and a grilled veggie, like asparagus. Also, being stuck in the house means I have to eat what's here. If I can resist buying sweets in the store, I think that will help (i.e. if sweets are in the house, I'm eating them.) I generally try to avoid processed foods as much as possible.
4. How do you plan to ease back into activity after you are healed enough to do so? I'm 8 days pp from a c/s and am very lucky as my recovery has been amazing. I walked several miles yesterday and it was no problem. I walked all pg, and hope at a minimum to keep up the walking. I picked up heavy weight lifting a couple years ago and I have never been so pleased with my body, so as soon as I get the okay, I hope to get back to the gym for that.
5. What exercise did you do before pregnancy? During pregnancy? before: Spinning, weight lifting, elliptical, walking.
6. Any questions, comments, rants or raves? My back hurts. I don't think I'm situating myself correctly when b/f. I don't want to let that get out of control.

Before: Running, yoga. During: Running, yoga.
6. Any questions, comments, rants or raves?
Looking forward to having my body back!
This list of food is literally identical to what I've been eating. Like, if you had also added scrambled eggs in leftover tortillas topped with salsa, I would have assumed you had somehow seen the contents of my refrigerator
1) how much weight did you gain during pregnancy? 24 lbs.
2) How much weight do you have left to lose? At my 2 week checkup today I have 8 lbs left to lose.
3) I do a lot of snacking even when not pregnant- I try to make sure there's always some protein or healthy fats in every meal/ snack. I had zero sweet tooth in pregnancy, but now with the sleep deprivation my desire for sweets/ refined carbs has come roaring back and will definitely be my biggest battle as far as eating goes.
4) how do you plan to ease back into activity? I have a severe diastasis and possibly torn stomach muscle from my polyhydramnios. I'll start working with a physical therapist at 4 weeks pp and then I'll have a better idea of what I'm looking at as far as physical recovery. It will definitely be an uphill climb but I'm trying not to get too depressed about it at this point.
5) what exercise did you do before/ during pregnancy? Before pregnancy I bike commuted several miles every day, did the occasional Jillian Michaels video, and ran. I did a half marathon right before getting pregnant and would love to get back to that level of fitness at some point. Between hyperemesis in 1st tri, and the poly in 3rd tri, I did virtually no exercise beyond walking, toddler minding, and occasional yoga.
6) Any questions, comments, rants or raves? Just eager to get the process of core recovery started so I can start to feel strong & healthy again. I hate the feeling of having no core strength or stamina.
@seasalt123 you are of course welcome to post! It's not just about the numbers on the scale!
@vinerie I've still been going to the chiropractor PP and it has been a lifesaver. It's almost impossible to have good posture while breastfeeding (at least, for me). Lately I've been falling asleep while nursing and waking up with cricks in my neck. She could tell when I went in today and took care of it. I'm going regularly so I don't end up in worse pain down the road.
Regarding bf posture-- as much as possible, bring baby to the breast, not the other way around. A lot of people hunch or really stiffen their shoulders at first. Using a pillow or your legs to position can help a lot (as does paos back position). Also, I think it gets much easier to feed with good posture as they get older and a little taller/have more control of their own body.
How are y'all finding time to go to appointments? I can guesstimate when LO needs to eat again, but if her sleep is thrown off at night, it'll throw off her eating the next day. I also feel like I get 3 hour intervals, one hour of which goes to feeding. I suppose I could schedule something in that two hours and leave the house and make it back in time. But once my mom leaves, I'd only be able to go to appointments on Saturday and Sunday when my husband is not at work. How do y'all manage it?
1. How much weight did you gain in the pregnancy? Around 33lbs ish, not quite sure because I had a leg boot (broken foot) on for my final weight check.
2. If you've weighed post baby, how much of that do you still have left to lose? I haven't weighed, I usually never weigh myself. I go by how my clothes fit and muscle mass. I can tell I've lost weight but look like a deflated balloon.
3. What are some healthy snack/s or meal/s you think will help you reach your goals? My husband and I just bought a grill, we've decided to really start cooking at home more now since we have a baby. Before, it was easier just to eat out, even if it was healthy meals. But mostly meats and fruits/veggies, limit carbs.
4. How do you plan to ease back into activity after you are healed enough to do so? Now I can bear weight on my broken foot (2 weeks PP), once I can fully walk again without feeling pain. I want to start going on walks. That's why we bought a jogging stroller for me to use with the baby. DH is also looking into building our own garage crossfit gym since working, exercising, and baby is going to be a juggling act.
5. What exercise did you do before pregnancy? During pregnancy? I did crossfit for 3 years, I went 4-5x a week before pregnancy and 3x a week during pregnancy until I broke my foot at the beginning of April. Since then, I've done nothing
6. Any questions, comments, rants or raves?
I can't wait to feel strong again, losing muscle is the worse. My right calf looks like jello from the muscle loss due to no weight bearing. I had a CS so I know recovery time is going to be even longer. My body took a beating in the last part of pregnancy, all the way to labor and delivery.
1. How much weight did you gain in the pregnancy? 30lbs
2. If you've weighed post baby, how much of that do you still have left to lose? Just stepped on a scale yesterday, nine days pp, and have 8lbs left
3. What are some healthy snack/s or meal/s you think will help you reach your goals? I made lots of healthy freezer meals to avoid eating out and then snacking on fruits and veggies
4. How do you plan to ease back into activity after you are healed enough to do so? We've been doing small walks recently and am hoping to start increasing the distance soon. Then once I'm cleared we're going to a mommy and baby workout class, I got five sessions for a gift at my baby shower and can't wait!
5. What exercise did you do before pregnancy? During pregnancy? Before I would go to the gym occasionally and taught dance twice a week. During I kept teaching my dance classes, although didn't dance as much as I did before I them
1. How much weight did you gain in the pregnancy? 60 lbs.
2. If you've weighed post baby, how much of that do you still have left to lose? 25 lbs
3. What are some healthy snack/s or meal/s you think will help you reach your goals? I like to have an advocare shake in the morning. Otherwise, I have trouble eating 1st thing in the am & I end up starving & eating too much later in the day. I just cleared the meal replacement shakes with my pediatrician for breast milk safety so I'm looking forward to starting that again.
4. How do you plan to ease back into activity after you are healed enough to do so? I've already started walking with H & baby. Seeing my dr next week & hopefully he will say I can go back to spin soon. I'm also trying out Daily Burn bc I'm interested in their 20 & 30 min workouts...I've strategically placed the baby swing next to the TV with the Roku for this purpose
5. What exercise did you do before pregnancy? During pregnancy? Before...spin, running, kickboxing. During...just spin.
I've been good about getting to the gym for my mini work outs the past two weeks and am very proud of myself. I am still very sore after each work out.
I stopped by my old crossfit gym to say hello and the owner's daughter told me that several moms bring their babies to the midday classes which are not as busy. If the babies cry, they simply tend to them mid workout. I'm thinking of giving this a try again next week. In the meantime, I keep doing my simple workouts at home (always a one mile treadmill run followed by five rounds of some sort of body weight or weighted exercise circuit) which take only twenty min and which I can do with my son next to me.
Food wise I have been ok but with some bad choices. I usually eat strict paleo but started a daily Haagen Das habit while I was pregnant which is proving hard to break. After dinner is over, I now expect dessert and only Haagen Das will do.
My c-section was 2.5weeks ago, and this week, I've been lifting my toddlers (25lbs each) and the double stroller (just a few times). On Tuesday, I noticed increased soreness in my incision, so I took it easy on Wednesday. I guess I don't know how hard to push my activity level. I don't want to sabotage my healing, but I want/need to get out of the house and go for walks. What is working for you all? Thanks!
Mama to Three Girls: Twins born March 2014 at 26 weeks due to preterm labor and our 37weeker born May 9th, 2016!
@JennyS86 at 2.5w I was feeling similar-- I'd lift, then feel sore/get increased bleeding. I'd push too hard, then try to take it easy the following day. This week, by 3.5w I've lifted and carried DS (32lbs) short distances (from the car to his room when he fell asleep in the car/from one room to another for cuddles) without an increase in incision pain. Fx that within the next week you're able to get out with your girls without increased pain!
I'm three weeks pp but my bleeding has stopped so I've started doing some bigger walks and some squats. I'm thinking of starting some yoga. I'm tired of feeling like a deflated balloon.
I'm literally itching to work out! I'll be 3 weeks pp on Tuesday and hate I have three more weeks until my check up. I wish I could get cleared sooner. Baby and I are taking daily walks of 2-3 miles but it's not enough. I have at least 20 pounds to loose before going back to work, and walk isn't going to cut it. I need a spin class or kickboxing. A nice power yoga class... I am thinking of going back to the gym just to take advantage of the free weights but I obviously don't want to exasperate my cs incision.
My husband has diverticulitis and colitis and it's been really bad so we are adjusting our diets. I'm leading him to go paleo based on some research I have seen. Hoping the cleanser eating dirt also helps me to loose some weight.

I've eaten paleo for 6 years (Minus cheats such as occasional Haagen Das cause life is short, and food isn't a religion) due to some health issues so if you have any questions, let me know! ☺️

Thanks!! He is resistent and I'm sure he won't follow it when not with me. But dinners I have control over so I can at least implement it then and he can see it's not bad food! Last night we did it an he's none the wiser!
Does anybody feel like you seem to be losing inches but the weight on the scale isn't moving? I still have 20 lbs to go, and I can definitely see the extra weight on me, but I look in the mirror and feel like I've seen a change in the past week that isn't reflected on the scale. Or maybe I've just gotten used to the extra weight and it doesn't look as weird anymore
1. How much weight did you gain in the pregnancy? 37 pounds
2. If you've weighed post baby, how much of that do you still have left to lose? technically 24 pounds if I want to get back to my exact pre pregnancy weight, but I'm really only aiming to lose about 15 pounds.
3. What are some healthy snack/s or meal/s you think will help you reach your goals? Mostly I try to eat a lot of protein. I bought these grilled chicken snacks that you find in the lunchables section of the grocery store but they're not that bad for you and I like having those on hand for a high-protein very quick snack. Right now, I have not been tracking my food, which is how I used to manage my weight. Soon, I hope to go back to that but right now I am still in survival mode
4. How do you plan to ease back into activity after you are healed enough to do so? The only activity that I used to do pre-pregnancy was Horseback Riding and I think I'll actually be ready for that and another couple of weeks
5. What exercise did you do before pregnancy? During pregnancy? see above I did not exercise during pregnancy
6. Any questions, comments, rants or raves? Not really
2. If you've weighed post baby, how much of that do you still have left to lose?
I finally started getting rid of some fluid retention and a lot of my weight gain was amniotic fluid due to polyhydraminos. I've got about 11 pounds left to lose to get to pp weight.
3. What are some healthy snack/s or meal/s you think will help you reach your goals?
Going back to paleo style eating starting next Tuesday. I also plan on getting back to fruit and veggie smoothies.
4. How do you plan to ease back into activity after you are healed enough to do so?
Slowly walking more and more. I love lifting weights but it will be a while before I can get back to that due to CS.
5. What exercise did you do before pregnancy? During pregnancy?

Yup! Shows I've only lost 25 so far. But I feel much lighter. Comon scale! Get your act together!!
@kbrands7 oh yes, I expect it to get much better when his neck/head control is better.
@missnc77 I take the baby to my appointments, and she actually adjusts him, too! It's a very kid friendly chiropractic office. I'm fortunate that he is content to sit in the car seat and chill for the most part, though.

1) how much weight did you gain during pregnancy? 24 lbs
2) How much weight do you have left to lose? 8 days PP & 5 lbs to go...buuuut I had like 30 left on me from DS- oops...so I'd like to lose about 35.
3) What are some healthy snack/s or meal/s you think will help you reach your goals? I've been looking up a lot of 21 Day Fix meals- preferably made in the crock pot. I pretty much eat the same thing breakfast and lunch...it's dinner & snacking that gets me. & I must say this week has been BAD. People brought lots of bad snacks & I've just been so hungry.......
4) how do you plan to ease back into activity? I want to start walking with the kids asap...I feel up to it, but with this tear...I'm not sure if it's smart. I guess I'll call the doc again tomorrow and ask. I never felt this way after DS, but I am itching to work out! I'd love to do T25 during naps & some kettlebell workouts when I'm cleared.
5) what exercise did you do before/ during pregnancy? ummmmm........... I did start taking walks with DS almost every day. But that was only like the last 3 weeks of pregnancy lol
6) Any questions, comments, rants or raves? I just bought all these cute dresses for the summer & I can't wait to look good in them!!! lol
I gained 23 pounds, and I have 4 left to lose before getting back to pre-pregnancy weight.
I've been doing pretty good about eating a healthy breakfast and lunch, but we've been having people from our church bring dinner (which has been amazing!) and those meals haven't really been healthy (and they always include dessert).
I don't go back to my OB to get cleared for exercise until 6 weeks pp, but I cannot wait to get back to exercising. During pregnancy, I mostly walked. Pre-preg, I jogged and lifted weights.
At discharge, my nurse at the hospital said absolutely no exercise until I saw my doctor again. I asked her about taking walks, and she said I could take "leisurely strolls" that were less than a mile long, and that I couldn't even push the stroller. I had a vaginal delivery with a second degree tear, and I know not to do much until that heals.. But I thought her orders were maybe a little too restrictive?

That seems a little excessive. I had same as you, vag delivery with second degree tear. I've been walking at least a mile and pushing the stroller. Seems fine to me. I'm almost 5 weeks PP now. I couldn't have done it until I was past 2 weeks for sure.

I felt like my instructions were very restrictive as well. I've been waiting for the two week mark to see how I'm healing and if I'm still wary I will reevaluate at three weeks. My stitches are still there, I think it took 3 weeks the first time.
Harper has an uncanny ability to know just the moment I'm sitting down to eat. That's when she decides to wake up from her 5 hour naps and start screaming. In the 18 days since she graced us with her presence I've yet to eat a full meal. Best weight loss plan ever!

Me and my SO have to take turns eating dinner while one of us holds our son. He always, always knows when dinner is about to be plated. Every, damn night.
Re: Postpartum Weight/Body Check In
Did I really get that out of shape during pregnancy, or is this just part of recovering from the birth? I'm 3 weeks PP.
18 pounds
Yogurt with granola and fruit
PBJ!
I have registered for a 5K three months from
now to get me back in the game.
5. What exercise did you do before pregnancy? During pregnancy?
Before: Running, yoga.
During: Running, yoga.
6. Any questions, comments, rants or raves?
Looking forward to having my body back!
3. What are some healthy snack/s or meal/s you think will help you reach your goals?
a) eat red meat or oysters min 3 times a week
b) eat salmon or another fatty fish min 2 times a week
c) drink collard green/kale/spinach smoothies min 3 times a week
Mama to Three Girls:
Twins born March 2014 at 26 weeks due to preterm labor
and our 37weeker born May 9th, 2016!
During pregnancy?
before: walking hilly neighborhood with double stroller, general toddler twin chasing, elliptical & weights at the gym, yoga
during: nothing.
Mama to Three Girls:
Twins born March 2014 at 26 weeks due to preterm labor
and our 37weeker born May 9th, 2016!
DS: Born 5-17-16
@lalala2004 thank you!☺️
Around 33lbs ish, not quite sure because I had a leg boot (broken foot) on for my final weight check.
During I kept teaching my dance classes, although didn't dance as much as I did before I them
6. Any questions, comments, rants or raves?
I guess I don't know how hard to push my activity level. I don't want to sabotage my healing, but I want/need to get out of the house and go for walks. What is working for you all? Thanks!

My husband has diverticulitis and colitis and it's been really bad so we are adjusting our diets. I'm leading him to go paleo based on some research I have seen. Hoping the cleanser eating dirt also helps me to loose some weight.
37 pounds
During pregnancy?
see above
I did not exercise during pregnancy
6. Any questions, comments, rants or raves?
Not really

@missnc77 I take the baby to my appointments, and she actually adjusts him, too! It's a very kid friendly chiropractic office. I'm fortunate that he is content to sit in the car seat and chill for the most part, though.

I just bought all these cute dresses for the summer & I can't wait to look good in them!!! lol
