I haven't used it before but I plan on using them this time. I took one out and messed around with it yesterday and it seemed very practical and usable.
Thanks @ladyfleck. A lot of the ones I've seen in stores appear super soft (jersey cotton) which is not the case that I've found with nursing covers other than those made of muslin. Is it worth the $25?
For those ladies who aren't enjoying pregnancy sex - this weekend I discovered being on top with my back to him makes a world of difference. Belly doesn't get in the way at all, and it actually felt better for both of us. Not sure why this hadn't occurred to me until now. ...just a thought for those of you who were looking for different positions that worked!
Someone point me in the direction of the comments talking about dogs acting weird during pregnancy. Our dog has started marking 1 particular spot when we aren't home. He's 4 years old, we've had him for 2 years, and this behavior is not like him at all. We've slowly (8 weeks) been trying to transition him out of "his" room to turn it into the nursery. But outside of this, nothing in his world has changed at all.

This was us for the last 6 months 2-3 a month. Our dog is 4 and was marking ever since I got pregnant. Vet says they pick up on your hormones and there's nothing you can do except basically repotty train them (like make a big deal when they go outside and give them treats for it) and to use no-marking spray. You can find it on amazon or at the pet stores.
Teacher bumpies: Can I get some ideas for acceptable, affordable teacher gifts for teacher appreciation week? I was at first thinking of just getting some $10 giftcards for each of them, but since my son has four teachers, that would be $40, and we are tight on funds right now. I plan on giving them each a handwritten thank you note and letting my son color/draw on it (he's only 2.5 so can't write yet). Would goodie bags with homemade cookies and hand sanitizers be considered too cheap or would you be fine with that (if you are a teacher)?
@rnyland1 honestly, anything a student/parent gives me is acceptable, even if it's just a thank you. If you can't do a gift card, the hand sanitizer and cookies is great! Especially if your child is young, I'm sure his teachers would greatly appreciate the hand sanitizer, and all teachers love food!!
My random: I normally love test days, but today, I had to give my kids a test I knew they weren't ready for. We're all just in here frustrated smh and of course, that only puts us even further behind because they didn't finish, then we have to go over it and give a retake opportunity...worst (test) Monday ever.

I personally do not eat anything homemade from my students (just a preference) but I agree with @kasg that a thank you card is enough! I appreciate those more than anything. I also love when students give me new supplies, like a "fancy" pen, or post-its. I love post-its.
Me: 28 | Husband: 39 Married March 2016 DD: born 7.22.16 DS EDD: 6.23.18
Went to the zoo yesterday and I regret it. All that walking has left me with swollen ankles, sore hips, and just pain all over. Is it bedtime yet? I'm ready to go back to sleep.
Silly FTM question that I forgot to ask at my appointment last week - do we generally have any more ultrasounds between now and due date for normal, low risk pregnancies? I thought I read something about cHecking growth around week 36ish, but maybe that varies by OB.
@erin7264 I believe it varies by doctor. As @quartz02mentioned, she only had one because she was past her EDD. I remember having one between 32 and 36 weeks where they did another growth check and looked at amniotic fluid levels - it was very quick. My co-worker had one just last week at week 28, and that will be her last one for the pregnancy. So... seems all over the board - something you'll just have to ask your OB at your next visit!
@erin7264 My doctor does one at 36 weeks to check the babies position, but when I asked today they said it's a very quick check so I'm not anticipating any major measurements being taken.
@LDSJM123 we use Natures Miracle when we had issues with our dog peeing in the house and our cat marking. I was very happy with it and have been happy with all the different NM we've used
@erin7264 this seems to vary. Some people say they don't have another in third tri but others have one more between 32 and 36 weeks, even if they aren't high risk. Definitely ask at your next appt.
I have one next week at 32w and probably another one before the end. I had some questionable growth issues during second tri, even though I'm not considered high risk. I agree with pp that's it's probably OB/MFM dependent.
Totally doctor dependent. I am not high risk. However, my doctor has never used a Doppler on me. Instead, I get a quick ultrasound every appointment. He measures baby's heartbeat, swirls the pictures around to take a look and it's done.

With my first pregnancy and this pregnancy, I only ever had the confirmation ultrasound around 9 weeks and the anatomy scan around 20 weeks. But like PPs said, it can vary. I asked my OB at my last appointment if there were any planned and she told me that unless they think something is off, I would not have another done.
@rnyland1 :: For me, the words of appreciation and encouragement always mean the most! I've gotten baked goods, coffee, gift cards, school supplies, and more, and though I think that is so generous, I always cherish the cards the most!
@rnyland1 I agree, it doesn't have to be extravagant. I have a food allergy so I don't eat handmade things, but I appreciate every little gesture. I would actually prefer just a card over a card and a mug or some tchotchke that I'll never use.
@rnyland1 Anything to acknowledge a teacher's hard work is always appreciated.
A 3rd grader gave me a little half used old bottle of hand sanitizer today and said, "There's more where that came from for Teacher's Appreciation week!" The fact that she thought of me really touched my heart.
Honestly, I decide whether or not to eat homemade things based off of what I've seen of the parents/kids. I won't eat the majority of homemade items.
A thank you note is great. If you can add in a pen, some post its, or a candy bar, that's even better.
thanks all....there's just so much pressure to give elaborate gifts to everyone for everything so it's good to know a simpler gesture can go a long way. I am a bit surprised that a lot of people don't eat homemade gifts - I guess I understand for allergy reasons or what have you. When my co-workers bring in homemade goodies to share I'm all over that stuff. People don't usually bring me homemade goodies for no reason, but if they did, it would literally make my day just to think that someone cared enough about me to do that. When I returned from maternity leave with DS, one of my co-workers brought me a whole huge dish full of chicken enchiladas to take home. I think I cried because of how thoughtful it was. But to each their own I suppose.
Today was my first day back to the Barre class at my gym after a two week absence due to sickness. I've lost a ton of strength and I'm already wobbling a little extra from sore muscles, but my lower back is already thanking me. Whether or not you can fit in a class, Barre/yoga stretches make such a huge difference in daily comfort!!
Received another offer for a clinical post doctoral fellowship position at a private practice today! It was offered before the interview technically started (I already did the phone interview previously). So excited and grateful! Decisions, decisions...all at 7.5 months pregnant. She kicked me through the whole interview lol
@rnyland1 I think handmade stuff from coworkers you know well is different than from students/families. You just don't know as much about them and the environment in which it was made. That said if one of my students whose parents know my dietary needs and who I trust to be careful of cross-contamination (it's a small group) makes me something, I'm all about that.
@rnyland1 I agree, homemade stuff isn't something I'll indulge in from students but I love cards and have a scrapbook/binder of stuff I save. I also am big on supplies like post-it notes and new pens. A trip to the dollar tree for some stickers and washi tape I am sure would go over well too!
@elenabrent yeah I see what you're saying. My son is still in daycare so I get to interact with his teachers on a daily basis so it might be a bit different than say, what elementary school is like.
I bought a crap ton of used gDiapers on eBay and when they came in, I realized I would have to replace the closures on most of them. While researching how to do that, I learned that there are a ton of tutorials for making your own faux gDiapers. I'm pretty excited about that because this seems like the diaper for me but I NEED cute prints.
Also, my ~20 gDiapers technically cost $53, but because of Shopkicks, I only paid $3 and that makes me happy.
@rnyland1 I teach high school, so maybe a bit different, but I love notes from students more than anything. I got two letters last year that I keep in my purse and pull them out when I get frustrated with my job. Little gifts are always nice, but cards/notes/thoughtful things mean a lot. I also don't usually eat homemade things, but I don't know many parents well and know a little too much about some of my kids' hygiene habits...lol. I still always appreciate the gesture though if they do bring me something like that!

Anyone have a recommendation for a site with decals? My son's old room is now the nursery and it's a blue-gray color. We're not painting it but I wanted to add something to the walls to make it more personalized for this baby. I thought about doing confetti decals or something along those lines. Any sites you've had a good experience using?
@rnyland1 I would love the cookies! Unless the parent or child have obvious hygiene concerns.
@tm14 I'm going to the zoo tomorrow and now you have me worried! Things are getting more challenging. We'll only stay a few hours though because DD needs a nap still.
@ButterMyBiscuit I was looking around quite a few sites for gold circle decals for baby's room, but couldn't find anything cheap enough. I ended up getting them at Amazon. They work super well, I'm able to take them off the walls without damaging the paint underneath. I got 60 3 inch circles for $13 I think.
ETA it's also ridiculous how many different colors and sizes they have!
I am also in need for some wall decals. Today I took a personal day to wrap up moving stuff and to continue working on the nursery. I did 6 loads of baby laundry. We have so many nice hand me downs and I have finally organized them all by size. All newborn and 0-3 months are washed and in the drawers. So thankful to be the last one of many friends to have a baby!
Re: Randoms week of May 2
That is the only thing left to buy before baby comes. Everything else is purchased and washed and put away in the nursery.
And now we wait.
Has anyone used a nursing scarf in lieu of a nursing cover? How'd it work for you?
