What if you hate water?

Re: What if you hate water?

  • Lurking from July but unless you put those decals on a gallon jug of water it is definitely not enough water. You should be drinking roughly half your weight in ounces every day. Yes it is hard but you can do it. Sometimes you just have to suck it up and down a glass or bottle every few hours but it is doable.
This is the craziest thing I've ever heard.  If that's the case, I'd have to drink almost 1800oz of water a day to make it to half my body weight.  That's beyond ridiculous.
She means half your pounds in ounces. So if you weigh 150 lbs, you should be drinking at least 75 oz of water. I've seen this guideline as well. I'm pretty sure I don't hit it every day, but I try to get as close as I can.

  • My midwife suggested 64oz or half your body weight is the recommended amount of water for a non-pregnant person doing minimal exercise and that while pregnant it's best to drink 96-128oz per day on top of eating a diet high in fruit and vegetables which also contain some water. I don't like water either- it's boring and tedious to drink it all day long. It's also infinitely good for you and your baby and definitely not dangerous until you're surpassing gallons per day. Peeing every 2-3 hours and having clear urine is recommended. I add fresh fruit to my 32oz bottle and drain it 3-4 times a day. If you think this is a lot of water now, just wait until it's time to breast feed! If you're planning on nursing I would get acquainted with water now and find a daily chugging routine that works sooner rather than later.

I think I was pretty clear. Take half your weight so if you are 160 that would 80 and drink 80 oz of water a day. It's not that hard definitely not dangerous.... Maybe ask for clarification instead saying something is "the craziest thing"  or "beyond rediculous" because that was condescending and very unnessary as my advice was solid and much better then to only drink one bottle a water a day!

Eta: yes the heavier you are the more that theory gives you but you should try to get in between 60-80 oz a day

Your OP wasn't as clear because two of us thought otherwise. We may be in the minority with that, but we both did quickly realize after what you meant. I don't think it was condescending given that context.

I do agree with you that it is much better advice to drink more than one bottle a day which that decal may lead people to believe is a healthy amount.

  • Once upon a time I read that Jennifer Aniston drank 100 oz of water per day, so that kinda became stuck in my head as a goal all the time...  Weird, but it pushes me!

It absolutely is condescending and rude especially since she was able to figure it out later an apology or oops my bad would be much better instead of trying to discredit and make me look bad by using disrespectful word choices as I quoted.

If you are unsure what something means or what they are trying to say all you have to do is ask them to clarify. It really isn't that difficult to be respectful when disagreeing or not understanding.

HAHA YUP!  When I was BFing DD, I drank sooooo much water.  Probably close to 200oz/day, maybe more sometimes without even trying, I was just THAT thirsty all the time!  And frankly, I didn't even pee all that much, my body needed it.

You definitely said, and I quote, "You should be drinking roughly half your weight in ounces every day."  To me, I interpret that as convert your weight to oz, in my case that's almost 3500oz, and divide it in half....so almost 1800oz.  When I realized that you meant take you weight in lbs, divide by 2, then drink that many oz I was like ok that makes more sense.  Chill out!!  No reason to get your prego panties in a bunch over something dumb.

  • Here's the thing, don't drink enough water and then wonder later why you're having Braxton hicks or going to the ER.

  • I didn't realize us July ladies were troops being rallied to go to war... She gave helpful advice, a few of you ladies came off as rude. Pregnancy brain aside, you should be grateful that some people are as nice as @Lindsayleigh1989 and she never "got her preggo panties in a bunch"... Maybe you ladies should just be thankful. Granted, us July ladies aren't worried about how much weight we have gained, or fitting into maternity shape wear... Got forbid we LIKE the way we look and we are just glad that we are pregnant another day.
