***lurker**** for those missing runny eggs, there such thing as pasteurized egg available at the grocery (a little bit more $$) they are totally safe (well as safe as food in general can be!)
Most eggs you buy in grocery stores in the US are pasteurized, no?
When I first got pregnant, H took full advantage of having a built-in DD and drank enough to feel like hell the next day. I think he's had one beer since. Mostly, I think he's happy that we aren't running up our dinner date bills with drinks.

Nope, unfortunately. At least not at my grocery store.

I buy the Pete & Jerry's (I think that's the name) organic eggs and I couldn't find anything about pasteurization anywhere on the carton. I was dying to eat cookie dough so I looked really hard
@whitneyf1 - vegan cookie dough is the answer to that one!
I mean.. I made cookies the other day and FOR SURE had some uncooked dough. Had an appointment yesterday. Baby is fine. I can't give that shit up. Eggs I am less worried about, since I've had a pretty bad aversion to them since about week 7.
@whaat I totally understand! I am pretty anxious in general and this has made it much worse so I choose to keep my sanity by avoiding things I know I will worry about immediately after I do/eat/drink them.
Not drinking alcohol this pregnancy even though I'm a fan of a good drink. It just makes me more comfortable not to, even though I have read Expecting Better. I also have yet to have any desire for booze anyway, so that works out. I'll probably rock virgin margaritas this summer, and other such things if I'm feeling the urge, and that will be good enough.

@MissAmeliaPond and others who looked at the December 15 thread...I was participating there (following along really) before a loss and it was ALWAYS like that. I know there have been many discussion about how sane this board is but I feel like that's a good example of how things are so much better around here.
I rarely drink so it's not a problem for me... I think I am going to start a new game. Anytime one of you mentions having a drink, I'll eat sushi. Then we'll all be happy. Ready, GO!
I haven't had any yet with this pregnancy because I'd likel vomit. Although I DID have a virgin Bloody Mary at brunch the other day and it was amazing.
In the third trimester of my last pregnancy, I'd have the occasional small amount of wine or sometimes beer. We have these small glasses we got from a whiskey tasting while we were in Scotland and I use one of them as my "pregnancy glass." It makes for a nice treat every now and again. Also worth noting that my OB flat out told me to have a glass of wine or beer occasionally in the 3rd trimester.
Re: "restricting" husbands I also really dislike that term. Either your H is on board and you're not really restricting him, he's making the decision himself. Or he's not on board and there's a huge potential for resentment there. Or sneaky behavior. Which, when it comes to alcohol, can get really problematic real fast.
I could just be splitting hairs here. I'm assuming when the term was used it was in reference to the first scenario (the mutual consensus), but as someone who has known quite a few alcoholics, it was just off-putting for me. Maybe that's why others found it off-putting too.
I haven't had even a sip since getting my BFP. I think it would make me miss it more and wouldn't be satisfying to have just a sip, so I'd rather go cold turkey and not think about it. DH and I usually drink once a week or so (we love our glass of wine or beer while we watch jeopardy!) so it's not like I'm a huge drinker anyway. DH drinks beer a few times a week. He loves those hard ciders too. It doesn't bother me that he drinks responsibly. I can go without it for a few months He did promise me an ice cold Blue Moon and a huge boat of sushi when the baby is born though!
Has anyone tried the non-alcoholic wines? I have the beers, but sometimes I really want a glass of wine at night. I saw them on the Total Wine website but my lazy butt hasn't driven over there to buy them yet.
Side note, I watched like 3 marathon hours of RWNY the other night and they were drinking dirty martini's. Don't mind if I did eat 4 blue cheese olives- take that!

Yes. I've tried every kind of nonalcoholic wine I've seen. Here's my opinion. You have to be REALLY craving white wine for nonalcoholic white wine to do you any better than grape juice. Even then, it tastes like bad boxed wine. Still, it kept the craving at bay for my last pregnancy.
Don't bother with nonalcoholic red wine. It's basically vinegar.
@SRose109 I'd like to say thanks but you really just bummed me out..haha... How about the fake champagne they give kids on New Years?
Side note- I've also been ordering ginger beers (n/a) at bars and asking them to put it in a copper mug with a bunch of limes so I can pretend it's a moscoe mule. It's surprisingly good.

Agree! I find them pretty gross. The only thing they are good for is a fake-out at a dinner party or something. We host a lot so I've done that a few times, and I've literally had to choke it down. Ugh, I'm gagging just thinking about it.
@msu_galHaha sorry I don't have better news for you! I've never tried fake champagne because I don't even like regular champagne. I do love wine, and it makes me super sad that the n/a version isn't better. Fake beer is pretty good these days though, so that's something!
@msu_gal & @ SRose109 I found a de-alcoholized Cabernet Sauvignon called Ariel at my local co-op market, and on the label it said something about being the only non-alcoholic wine to win an award against alcoholic wine. I got SO excited and bought 2 bottles. I don't know what alcoholic wine it won a contest against, but it took me all night to choke down a glass when we had company over and I had to pretend-drink. As @kmmnocal said, they're pretty much only good for faking people out at a dinner party. I was so bummed out. Womp womp...

I by official internet standards was a heavy drinker until BFP. A minimum 2 drinks daily, easily. This is our first pregnancy and it was a total surprise! I was feeling really weird, took two tests, checked a couple of online calculators, and discovered I was about six weeks... and I felt HORRIBLE. Just so guilty. Ugh! No drinks since then.
But the weirdest thing is that I haven't craved anything—beer, red wine, margs—not ONCE!
My group of friends are big supporters of our local NASL team. I hadn't told any of them at the time of the home opener, and so they were all super confused when I turned down multiple beers, haha. Out of habit and atmosphere, I really wanted one that day... but not a spec of a craving. It is just so weird to me! Hope they don't kick in

YES! Not buying beer and wine during my weekly grocery trips has saved me a lot the last month, lol!
