New to the board, IUI

Hey everyone, 

I've been lurking on the boards for about a year now and finally decided to post.  Here's my story.

My DH (34) and I (33) have been married just shy of 3 years.  We've been actively TTC for 1.5 yrs.  I was told 10 years ago that I likely had PCOS and that I should not wait till I was 30 to try and conceive.  The problem with that was that I was 23 and single at the time.  I did not meet my husband until I was 28 and we got married when I was 30 and really wanted to travel and see the world a bit before settling down to have our family.

We TTC for 6 months on our own about a year after we were married.  After that we saw a local OBGYN, and she ruled out issues with DH and I had a HSG done which came back fine.  She determined I did not ovulate and have low progesterone.  So we did 5 months of letrozole followed by 3 months of Clomid and nothing worked, in fact some months I still would not ovulate.  Then we got our referral to the RE.  

We live in Northern Ontario, Canada and had to travel 8 hours in order to see an RE but it was worth it.  He recommended IUI.  We had to wait a month because we'd been to Dominican in January and with the Zika virus we all agreed better safe than sorry.  I had my first IUI on 03/19 using letrozole from cycle days 3-7 and gonal-f for days 7-12 and ovidrel was my trigger.  Of course we got a BFN.  When I went for my baseline ultrasound and bloodwork for IUI #2 (on my birthday no less!) they discovered a large cyst on my ovary and cancelled my cycle and put me on BCP for the month.  Not a very happy 33nd birthday!

So now we wait till May and hopefully we can start IUI #2.

@pmjb - Welcome to the board! Sounds like you've been through a lot already.  What a bummer for your birthday!  Do you have to make the 8 hr trip to your RE for ultrasounds and testing, or are they able to do some of that locally and send the results to your RE?

Welcome @pmjb.  I'm sorry you have to be here but happy to have you nonetheless.  Also, sorry about the long drive but we will do anything for our family.  Looking forward to connecting with you in the May IUI discussion!

So sorry your cycle got cancelled but I hope you will have better success in your future journey to baby! GL!
