@agogo1 - I'm sorry, but reading that a slow loris bit you made me giggle. Are they really that slow? How did one come to bite you?? Also, my ex sister-in-law had a shelf of mice once. I couldn't understand how they just lived on her shelf in her bedroom! They were so happy just to hang out there. They didn't even leave the shelf.
@ladyshark311 - love your story about your ex! So amazing to hear that those stories can happen in real life.
@Michi1382 - last week my friends and I were talking about ways to make money; and I guess there's this online chick who reads Shakespeare to her "fans" except she reads them naked in her bedroom. She makes up to $800 a day and she has an Amazon Wishlist visible to her fans and they send her all the shit she wants. Also like you, I can't stop cursing.
@F47 - I LOVE the Beatles! OMG amazing that you got Paul to sign your tat!!!! Totally jelly. I wanted a Beatles themed wedding once. I wanted to have "diamonds" hanging in the trees; and I wanted to walk down the aisle on a lane full of pennies. My then fiance (now ex husband) totally laughed in my face and told me no.
Let's see, randoms about me:
1. I speak 4 languages: English, Filipino, Spanish and Portuguese. I totally want my kid to learn Spanish and Filipino....and English of course. But dunno how we are gonna pull of 3 languages. 2 is more doable.
2. I'm an aspiring tap dancer. I've always wanted to learn; but somehow never got the chance to. I signed up this year before I found out about my BFP. Then I missed 3 classes because of nausea and my teacher told me to wait it out till next semester.
3. I have zero background in software/tech/IT; and I somehow ended up working for a software company as a project manager talking tech shit to all these engineers. I had to fake it in the beginning because I had no idea wtf I was talking about.... till I eventually "made it" and now can speak the lingo.
Such fun stories to read, mine aren't as exciting.
1. When I was 5 I had cancer and lost my left eye and have had a glass one every since. Hoping my little peanut doesn't have to go through something like that.
2. My husband and I actually met through an ex boyfriend, which was really weird and hard at first but well worth it in the end.
3. I hate cotton balls, the feel, the sound, just the look of them drives me up the walls.
@annabenanna Slow lorises are actually pretty slow. Not quite sloth slow but not all that much faster, either. I volunteered at a zoo in middle school and high school. I was not well supervised. So, one day when I went in to feed the slow loris (his name was Calvin, btw) I decided that I just could not resist how fluffy he was. Naturally, he could not resist how tasty my finger looked. He bit clean through my nail and I had a scar under it for a number of years. Slow lorises also have poisonous saliva, as it turns out, but I didn't suffer any ill effects. I completely own that I was a total idiot, though.
Also, sounds like we have sort of similar jobs. I work for a big tech company with absolutely zero software/IT/CS background, but enterprise software has become my niche. I frequently wonder how on earth I do what I do for a living. I can speak the lingo but I still do a lot of nodding and smiling because I am nowhere near as technical as many of the people that I work with.
Up until my ex H, and current FI, I was able to beat every single one of my boyfriends in arm wrestling. I'm not a big lady at all, and I'm not that buff nor were they small guys, I just used to have this weird arm wrestling talent haha
I knew I was going to marry my DH on our first date I can speak Spanish, and a little Russian (and of course English) I get really anxious if someone yells at me or argues with me (it is a serious phobia I completely shut down)
@cassieleeanne My step son is 5. He is going may 17, the day before his 6th bithday, to be fitted for a glass eye. Unfortunately he is completely blind. But I always think it's so cool to hear of others who are non sighted.
Wow these are awesome to read!! I'm pretty boring but I'll give this a try.
1. My husband and I met on eHarmony. He was my very first date from the website and we hit it off immediately. 2. My husband and I have the exact same sense of humor. I introduced him to Howard Stern (I listen pretty much everyday), and the Sal and Richard prank calls. I still vividly remember about a month after we started dating, and I was in the kitchen doing dishes, he was playing the prank calls in the other room and just laughing and laughing. It made me feel so good to know that we find humor in the same things. 3. I will blast Metallica in my car on good days and bad. 4. I trained our cats to give me a high five, lay down, and roll over. Although they will only do the tricks if I'm holding food.... 5. I'm allergic to the acid in most fruits. Luckily it's not a horrible allergy, and I just have to take benadryl if I come into contact with it. But as long as the fruit is cooked it's okay. For example, raw tomatoes is a huge no no. Cooked pizza or pasta sauce is totally fine. My Dad had the same allergy and I'm hoping I don't pass it down to Peanut.
1. Since as far back as I can remember I've wanted to be a chef. I was also adamant about not being a pastry chef because I thought they're too "soft". So I went to culinary school at Le Cordon Bleu and of course I fell in LOVE with pastries and baking. I worked in a couple hot kitchens, catered several events and did a couple events with Wolfgang Puck catering, but most of my work has been in bakeries, cupcakes shops and artisan ice cream shops. I just love sweets (which sucks because I was just told I have gestational diabetes ) I will also willingly admit any day that my husband is a better cook than me. We plan to open our own restaurant in a few years where he will handle the front of house and I will handle the back (because I hate being in customer service and he is SUCH a people person). Right now I'm doing administrative work for doctors' offices from home and it pays the bills and is the right place for me to be right now, but I reeeeeeeally miss baking.
2. I think I've shared this before in the very beginning, but I'll share again... My husband and I met through roller derby. His roommate was on the team I played for and he saw our team pictures online and was smitten. We met at a party, but I was in no place mentally to be in a relationship. Every practice the roommate would tell me "My roommate says 'Hiiiii'" in a taunting voice and I would roll my eyes..."yeah yeah.". Then some other girl pointed out that she thought he was cute and I got territorial and snapped "YEAH, I KNOW! D's been trying to hook us up for months". The next time I saw him, I was tipsy and spent 45 minutes telling him why he shouldn't date me and that obviously was a big turn off so he told my friend that he was over it. I begged her to convince him to give me another chance, he did, and we we've been inseparable since. We were engaged after a year of dating and married last May. He's the light of my life and I thank my lucky stars every day that I got my shit together and he gave me a second chance.
3. DH is a tattoo artist, but I swore I would never have a sleeve. I now have 1 sleeve, several small tattoos, two giant thigh pieces and I have a laundry list of additions I want to get done, including my other sleeve. My dad was really not happy about the tattoos, but now shows them off to his friends and co-workers and proudly says "Hey look and my daughter's new tattoo!" He also proudly "shares" my husbands work on facebook and sends him clients. It's pretty cute. Not all of my tattoos mean something to me, some are just because why not, but many do. One of my favorites is on my foot, in my mom's handwriting, from a letter she wrote me in high school that says "PS - It's never too late". My mom has expressed that this is her favorite, because she was diagnosed a couple years ago with Parkinsons and her handwriting has been effected, so it's pretty special to me.
4. I used to lead catholic retreats for high school students, called Kairos, both as a student and as an alumni leader. All in all, I led 7 retreats and keep in contact with a lot of the retreatants. I now consider myself an athiest, but will always respect and have love for the retreat program for having really turned my life around and putting me on an all around healthier path.
*** Edited to add - Wowsers. Sorry for the novel lol!
@Julia70286 Love yours and DH's story--super cute! I currently have 3 tattoos, but I've been dying to get more. I just haven't done it yet because I've been nursing DD and I'm overly paranoid, but will definitely be adding to my collection when I'm done nursing both babies. Also, I went to a private high school and we went to Kairos as part of a graduation requirement. It actually was a lot of fun and I wish I still had my letters, but unfortunately our house flooded two summers ago and we lost a bunch of stuff. We had our Kairos in an old monk monastery and it was extra creepy, but added to the fun! That is so cool that you were a retreat leader!
@rozANDbenSINCE2001 That sucks about your letters! The place you had your Kairos sounds so cool! Mine was at a convent in the middle of a really bad area lol, but I led ones that were in better locations, in the woods, santa barbara and Malibu. I guess my group just got the dud lol.
