35+3 and I'm still "closed up tight" . I only got checked today because of the swab- but my doctor doesn't check unless there's issues because she feels it's better to leave everything be- which I appreciate.
36w3d and was checked this morning. Head is low, 1 cm dilated and 60% effaced. I know the checks are worthless but it's interesting to me to see what is happening with my body.
I was thinking I would decline checks after the GBS test but curiosity got the best of me: Check #2 at 36w5d 0 dilation, 75% effaced and 0 station. I'd like him to stay put till 39 weeks since I have a lot to do but I do hope I go into labor naturally!
36+5, nearly 2cm dilated, somewhat effaced (didn't give a percentage and I didn't press for one), 0 station. With DS, when I had those stats I went into labor a week later; hopefully he hangs out in there longer than that. I know I could walk around for weeks like this though.
37+1 and had my second check today. Same as last week, unfortunately, but I wasn't expecting any big changes. A "tight" 1cm according to today's doctor, 75% effaced, -2 station so he's still pretty high up there according to her. I was hoping for different news because work is getting to be really difficult. I CAN take my leave early at 39 weeks, but I'd hate to sit at home for (potentially) 3 more weeks after that, still pregnant.
Edited to reword and it still doesn't make sense. I'll just go away now
36+ 4 I just had an appointment today, but declined the cervix checks until a little closer to my due date. She did say he hadn't dropped down yet. So I'm guessing it will be a bit yet. I do have GD, so I realize they want to keep an eye on me, but I know if I started getting these checks right now it would make me worry more than I need to. I'm hoping to make it to April 20th b/c that is when I have short term disability available to me.
37+4, checked yesterday, 50% effaced, cervix still closed and doc likes his positioning and the way his head is coming down Very excited, only a couple weeks left!!
yesterday at 36w6d..I was 1cm 50% effaced..didn't get a station but told the baby is headdown and low and in the optimal position for birth! Really want it to cook until 39 weeks though only time will tell!
34w 4d and 2 cm dilated, 50% effaced. Just curious--does anyone know if dilation or effacement is a better predictor of time until labor starts or are both just so varied by person that neither means much?

36+5 and 2 cm. I didn't push it on the percentage effaced but OB did comment that my cervix is "nice and soft." Hoping this holds out for a while although I tend to do a lot of walking at work which leads to cramping and mild contractions.
Just got home from my appointment this week. 37+2 today and 1 cm dilated and 50% effaced. Also found my first stomach stretch marks this morning I've gotten huge stretch marks on my boobs, butt, and thighs, but now they're spreading to my belly which I've tried so hard to avoid up to now. Poop.
I'm 37+1 today and had a checkup this morning. Am still maybe 1/2 cm dilated and 50% effaced. No change for the past two weeks, which is fine with me! I really want to make it to May for a variety of reasons.
I had my cervix checked today for the first time (see above). It wasn't painful and other then light cramping I've felt like normal since. I expected a little spotting but how much is normal? My appointment was about 6 hours ago and when I went to the restroom the first two times afterwards I could see some light pink on the toilet paper (I was specifically checking for spotting). But when I just went I had dark and heavy spotting in my underwear. About the amount I'd expect on the last day or two of my period. Should I be concerned or is this normal? I'm just not sure how to define spotting at this point.

I've always been told by my doctor as long as it's not bright red and heavy then not to be concerned. I'd see if it lets up by tomorrow but you can always call your OB for reassurance.
Ugh well I didn't want a check until closer to my due date, but ended up with one today because I wasn't sure if I was leaking pee or amniotic fluid (it was pee and I have a yeast infection, yay). I'm 1cm dilated and she said stuff was thinning like it she expected it should (no % or station though). I found the check to be quite uncomfortable and ended up bleeding as well. It was dark red and not a ton, but I still called the nurse to check and she was like yep that'll happen.
I had my first check yesterday when they did the strep swab. At exactly 36 weeks, 1 cm dilated and 50% effaced. She said baby is very low. (Duh, I've been complaining of that for weeks!)
What does station mean? I get that it's how low the baby is, but what does "-1 station" or "+2 station" mean?
I was checked again yesterday at 37+1, 2cm dialated (up from 1 last week). I had contractions last night but not anything noteworthy, and I'm assuming they were due to the check since they stopped. I'm being induced next Friday night so I'm glad I'm heading towards favorable, but I'm really hoping to avoid the induction altogether.
I'm 36+4 and wasn't dilated at my appointment today. She said baby's head is low and engaged though, so there's something! She also said it's very unlikely he will move from this position so that's great news
I'm 37 weeks +4 today. Just had another appt yesterday, still 1cm & about 50% effaced, but he dropped since last week a couple of inches. We're skipping the cervical exam next week, because it was so painful for me this week (I think it was partly because of a yeast infection). I really didn't want to start doing these anyways until closer to my due date. I also had some contractions while doing the NST test, but I didn't know the difference between baby moving & the contractions. Oops.

This. Maybe I'm just looking for any little excuse to be in labor, but I honestly don't know what to expect or even if I've experienced anything yet. All I feel on the daily is pressure, movement, and weight (but baby is over 6.5lbs at this point).
I just got back from an appointment as well and I'm currently 38+1, 2cm, 75% effaced and "very soft and favorable" so I'm really hoping I go close to my due date and not too far past. But it's really not in my hands at this point so it could go either way!
I'm 37 weeks today and doc said I'm at "2 cm with a little bit of wiggle room" and 60% effaced. Hoping I go next week or the week after because I'm so sick of work and super afraid of baby being too big. With DS I was really close to having a c section because of how big he was (he was 9lbs 3 oz but had a huge head), they luckily got him out with forceps.
Had another appointment today and progressed from 1cm to 3cm and still 70% effaced and -2 station. My doctor still said that I could have the baby anytime from 37-41 weeks, so that was super helpful and definitive.
