How are you feeling this week? Like crap. My nesting energy is gone, which is no bueno because I've got a ton of stuff to do, my BFF of 25 years is flying in next Wednesday for a visit, the nursery is half finished, etc. I haven't been eating all that well, and I can feel it.
Rants/Raves/Confessions? My "fasting" numbers this morning were 103. I was up all night with the toddler, so I clearly was NOT fasting. It's an anomaly, I know, but still. Overall things have been going well, numbers have been good, doctor feels the diet and exercise is the way to go for now. I've just hit 33 weeks, so lets see if it continues.
Recipes/Food Ideas? I've got nothing new. Though I did just see a recipe for Avocado Egg Salad with Cucumbers and Dill that looks pretty much amazing. So I think that's what I'll be doing Monday with all the leftover Easter eggs.
GTKY: Do you celebrate Easter? If so, what are you looking forward to for this Easter? What traditions do you hope to share with LO in the future? I do celebrate it. My FIL is a pastor, so we typically go to service at his church. I grew up coloring eggs (DH did not), so we started doing that with DS last year (I've done it EVERY year since I was a kid, including with college roommates, etc), then I get up and stash the eggs around the house for DS to find. We do Easter baskets, though it does seem like things have gotten crazy with Easter in recent years. Like, kids are getting bikes and gaming systems?! In my family, it's usually a bunch of chocolate, maybe an action figure or some other very low dollar item, Silly Putty, that sort of thing. Then in the afternoon we all get together for an Easter dinner similar to Christmas, with ham and spring sides and such. Admittedly, my favorite part of the whole thing (aside from the eggs!) is the brightly colored fashion. Viva la Spring!
How are you feeling this week? Ehh. I've been better. Sunday I didn't eat right, I just ate bacon for dinner (and it was delicious) and no bedtime snack. So then Monday I felt really sick, and thought it might be because of that, felt way sick overall, had a headache that wouldn't go away, ketones tested way high, blood sugars on the low side for me. I called the on call nurse later that day when I felt worse, they told me to call the next day if I still felt sick. Still felt like complete crap on Tuesday and was having bathroom issues, they thought it was because of eating bad Sunday night and they thought I was dehydrated. I was like uh, I don't think so... I drink 8 cups of water a day and usually one bad meal doesn't affect me that long. So they told me to drink 8oz of water an hour the entire time I was awake. I was bad and ate mac & cheese for dinner that night because it always makes me feel better and what do you know, I woke up feeling better Wednesday. So I think I had some sort of flu or something. But it sucked. I'm glad to be feeling better now. Except it is winter again here. Darn blizzard. I'm working from home today since there was so much snow.
Rants/Raves/Confessions? Getting excited for my baby shower coming up April 3rd! I'm secretly hoping they'll have one at work for me, since a couple of ladies said they wanted to, but no one has said anything recently. It's not a big deal if they don't, but I just would feel a bit more liked there if they did one. I'm always afraid people don't like me.
Recipes/Food Ideas? not really, I just keep eating mostly the same foods over and over
GTKY: Do you celebrate Easter? If so, what are you looking forward to for this Easter? What traditions do you hope to share with LO in the future? My family celebrates Easter. I like getting together and decorating for it, but my husband and I are not religious, so the actual church stuff we don't do. I'm excited this Easter to eat some good ham and hang out with the fam (no little ones will be at ours, so no egg hunt or anything). The traditions in the future I hope to do, is an Easter egg hunt and a couple of baskets. I'm not sure if we would do it at our house or my parents.
How are you feeling this week? Swollen and uncomfortable! This is only going to get worse, isn't it?
Rants/Raves/Confessions? Numbers are still good! Every good day that I have my anxiety eases up, so I'm hoping that continues.
Recipes/Food Ideas? Man, all I want right now is cherries. Why are cherries not in season now? I want them so bad! Frozen and dried will not do. The only thing that mildly eases the craving is cherry greek yogurt. Counting down until 2:50 when I can test and then eat my cherry greek yogurt snack!
GTKY: Do you celebrate Easter? If so, what are you looking forward to for this Easter? What traditions do you hope to share with LO in the future? I do celebrate Easter. This Easter my husband's family is having a shower for us on Easter since we will all be together, so that's nice and I'm looking forward to that. I haven't really thought about Easter traditions I will pass on. Growing up we dyed eggs and had an easter egg hunt in our backyard before church, so I'm sure I'll do that with my kids.
@mello13 so kids are getting real toys for Easter these days?? That is crazy. Growing up we just had a basket full of plastic eggs filled with candy and some one dollar bills!
Can you ladies help me out? My 1 hr glucola was 134 a month ago. One of my OBs said, "normal! no further testing." But the OB at my appt yesterday would like to get a fasting blood sugar done in the next 2 weeks. I am absolutely not trying to cheat, but I would love to hear some tips on attaining a good (accurate) fasting blood sugar. I hear that the fasting number can be hard to control for GDM or borderline GDM mamas.
I've been loosely carb counting just to get an idea of how far I am from a GDM diet. I eat healthy, but I have a weakness for sweets.
Thank you!!

@Sienna516 Glad you're feeling better. Sounds like a rough few days. My "sprinkle" is the 2nd, so I'm looking forward to that weekend too!
@AnastasiaBeaverhausen09 Yes, the swelling and discomfort only grows! Luckily, we're all pretty much in the home stretch. And yes, I've seen kids getting (and asking for) big ticket items. It's crazy! Some parents are treating Easter like 2nd Christmas. It's ridiculous! A shower on Easter sounds fun!
@JennyS86 I would avoid a card heavy meal and sweets the night before (yes, this will feel like torture!). Then book the earliest appointment possible. Beyond that there isn't much you can do. It is the hardest number to control, and the placenta pretty much has all the control. Good luck!
@Mello13 Thanks! Hopefully you can catch a few more zzz's tonight. I didn't get much last night either because my husband's truck died, so now we're down to my car until his gets fixed.
@JennyS86 I've noticed mine can be pretty low in the morning if I don't eat anything after dinner and I eat dinner early (I'm supposed to eat a bedtime snack to prevent that, which I do most of the time). So maybe that would help as well? For me, potatoes horribly spike my blood sugar, so I avoid those at all costs. Exercise and drinking water help drop blood sugar too if you do that the morning of. My instructions for my fasting blood sugar say I'm not supposed to drink water before I test (which I don't despite always waking up thirsty). I also feel like my right hand usually is lower than the left for readings, but maybe that's just me..
