Monday is my anniversary and tomorrow the hubs and I are heading to New Orleans to celebrate. I am SO excited to eat all the food but SO sad to miss all the drinks... *sigh*
We looooove Christmas lights and since we are so far from Christmas what did we do? We wrapped green lights around our front porch pillars this week, and we're changing them out today for pastel lights for Easter. Christmas lights for every occasion!!!

S and I are having a lazy morning watching Disneyland ride videos on YouTube (his obsession since our trip) while H is at work. My dad is babysitting tonight so we can have a date night, so I need to find the energy to take a shower and pull myself together. But the bed is so comfy...

NOLA is the best city ever for food. I'm madly jealous. Cochon Butcher is a must stop for us. Bacon Pralines. They have something called Le Pig Mac. I mean...it speaks for itself. Their duck sliders are to die as well. We've eaten there daily every time we're there and it's NEVER disappointing. My husband bit into a Muffaletta sandwich once and got this really tragic look on his face. I asked him what was wrong and he said he was so bummed that he is never going to find a better sandwich than this. It was adorable.
Coop's Place by the French Market is kind of a dive, but they make great fried chicken. It's 21+ Napoleon House, fantastic charcuterie and Pimm Cups (wah, no alcohol) ACME Oyster House - best bbq oysters ever. Wait, no seafood. Fudge. Yo Mama's is across from Preservation Hall (which has a killer short jazz show, the house band) but they have a peanut butter bacon burger that sounds odd, but it's the best thing you'll put in your mouth. Cafe DuMonde by the river is a must stop for beignets and cafe au lait. Lüke (John Besh restaurant) has this pickled watermelon relish thing that comes with their charcuterie, amazeballs.
For Po Boy's you can't beat Killer Po Boy (inside Erin Rose in the French Quarter) it's tiny and not well marked but always slammed. And definitely get pralines.
Sorry to have shoved my opinion down your throat but I am THAT confidant you'll agree if you try any of those places. I would trade my left arm to be pregnant in New Orleans with their amazing food. ENJOY IT FOR ME.
We came out to one of our places with the dogs and kids for the weekend. It's gorgeous here. Until I remember how much baby proofing needs to get done. Our boys are 10&11 so we have never worried. The pool, the deck, stream, the hills, danger lurks everywhere for a baby. I'm not ready for this.
I took my daughter to her gym class, the library, and dunkin donuts. We both earned the 3 hours nap we just took. She's still asleep! We'll probably eat something I don't have to cook for dinner. Our neighbors have a babysitter tonight, so they're going to come hang with us after she's asleep. I hope we're not too boring for them, haha. Tomorrow my cousin is coming from NYC to stay with my parents becuase her car is being delivered to stay in their driveway. (she just relocated cross country, and has a lease that would cost her just as much to get out of, so she's going to keep it on the east coast just so she can drive it 3x, ha) I guess I'm picking her up somewhere and we'll do something. So vague. So not interesting. So not important.
@HomeyDontPlayThat - thanks for the amazing suggestions!! We actually got married there and have a been a bunch but you've given us some awesome new places to try (we do our best to hit up new places each time we go). I am so stoked to be knocked up and not think too hard about how much I'm eating. As long as MS doesn't kick in over the next 4 days, it's on!
@AdmiralKitty@HomeyDontPlayThat I live in New Orleans. You might want to tell your servers you are celebrating your anniversary and that you are expecting. I always scored free desserts when my belly was showing.

Do us all a favor and go to ACME Oyster House in the Quarter and get chargrilled oysters. Even if you think you don't like oysters, do it. Oyster, garlic butter, parmasean cheese cooked over an open flame. Add more garlic butter and parm and top it with pieces of toast to sop it all up. You won't even miss the alcohol. Also, steamed crawfish are delish.
Actually, can you just take me with you?? Lol NOLA is one of my faves. Did my bachelorette there and go whenever I get a chance.

Lol I second the bold. Also, two votes for ACME make it legit! I've never had the BBQ oysters though...And just a note that you can eat shellfish as long as it's cooked well (mussels and the like should be steamed til they are open). Gah...I'm so jealous right now.

My dog is snoring on her bed and H is snoring on the couch. Party animals this Saturday. We spent the day cleaning out the camp (H is a camp director) so it was pretty exhausting. It was also freezing! Looking forward to the cleaning being done so that I can spend the summer hanging out on the cabin porch, having campfires, and relaxing (with maybe just a little bit of cleaning still because the job never ends).

I think you mean boiled crawfish! They are in season right now and so yummy! Drago's is the home of the original charbroiled oyster and now lots of places serve them and they are fabulous. Also if you've never had BBQ shrimp, they are really good. They aren't actually barbequed, they are cooked in butter and barbeque seasoning. So. Delicious. There are so many good places to eat here, I don't even bother making recommendations anymore. It would be pages. But if you want new ideas let me know where you are staying and I can tell you my favorites near there. The food is awesome here but it's a wonderful city full of amazing history and architecture! And since you can't drink get a snowball at Plum Street or Hansens!

My husband went to three stores trying to find me orange sorbet which I desperately wanted. I'm reminded of the time when I was nine months pregnant with our oldest and he went out at midnight to get me chocolate milk and goldfish crackers. He's just the best ever and I'm so glad we found each other. Ten years in and I still adore him.
(Apparently autocorrect hates me and I somehow ended up with "never months pregnant.")

Worked a half day. Came home. Cleaned kitchen. SO has been passed out since 3pm. I was supposed to wake him up before dinner but just realized it's 9pm and I've spent the last 6 hours reading forums on here. And eating. I can't stop eating. Hmmm, I think I'll go make another snack.
H and I just split a box of those frozen French toast sticks for lunch. I don't think I've had them since grade school, but I thought about them this morning and knew I had to have them immediately!!
Today is the first day that I can truly say I feel Prego. I'm sooooo tired...its consuming me today and I just want to lay in bed except I can't because I have a toddler <sigh>. I did nap when she napped though and that helped a bit. Totally being a whatever Mom today...yup she can watch cartoons and play on her iPad most of the day because I simply cannot. Normally we play and do other things but yeah not today.
Also so my boobs HURT! I'm very small chested so when my boobs hurt its not terrible BUT today I actually have to hold my itty bitties when I go down the steps WTF!
Then I went to season the meat for dinner and was so turned off by the smell of raw meat that I don't even think I'll be eating what I'm cooking tonight. So I'll probably end up eating some bs meal and then feel crappy afterwards.
I made the most amazing batch of pancakes from scratch. Everyone was eating them up so fast I could barely crank them out fast enough, saying how great they were. I had one and was overwhelmed with the taste of baking powder and flour. My insane pregnancy sense of taste and smell ruined it for me. I almost cried.
We got to see the giant panda cubs and the polar bear cub at the Toronto Zoo today. So cute. The wait was an hour to see the panda cubs and we only got a minute to see them so I didn't get any really good pictures which is a bit of an aggravation. But Juno, the polar bear cub, was adorable.

My nephew mentioned coffee ice cream today, and it gave me such a bad craving for it that about 6 hours later I ran out to the grocery store and bought some of the Ben & Jerry's dairy free coffee caramel fudge. IT WAS SO GOOD. I ate almost the whole pint. Pregnancy cravings, man.

Nope. Husband just buttered cinnamon raisin toast for our toddler. I'm so upset.
Looks like I'll need to send him out later for dinner to get me closure. Bwahaha.
