...unfortunately. Went in for our 12 week appointment on Tuesday and the Dr couldn't find the HB with the Doppler so we were sent to the hospital for an u/s which confirmed that there was no HB. The baby died around 9 weeks. After reading many experiences on the bump of natural miscarriages and how horrific it is I decided that a D&C is the way to go. It's scheduled for tomorrow.

I did see the HB at 6w5d so I guess I'm one if those rare cases of m/c after you see it but that type of thing doesn't seem so rare on the bump.

I'm nervous for the procedure tomorrow. If anyone cares to share their D&C experience I would appreciate it.

My d&c was quick a d went very smooth. I had only spotting after for a few days. Mild cramping about a week after. Physically it was pretty easy. I have had 2 miscarriages after seeing a hb. Very sorry for your loss. The emotional part is not easy.

This echoes my story so much. I had my D&C two days ago. Lost a lot of blood at the time with hemorrhaging and taking special medicine as well as bedrest now. I'm so happy with my decision to do the procedure. If I had done the medication at home I would have hemorrhaged and they said could of possibly had to have a hysterectomy. The dr was so on top of things with the procedure and it was physically almost painless. You will do well and will feel so much better emotionally when you are done. I'm sorry for your loss and pray you have a quick and easy recovery. Hugs!

Hi. I had the same thing happen, found out at 12 weeks that our baby had stopped growing around 9 weeks. We saw the heartbeat twice, most recently at 8w6d. It's been absolutely devastating, it took us 2 years plus fertility treatments and this was our first pregnancy. I had a D&C on Sunday and physically it was pretty easy, 10 minute procedure and left about an hour after it was over, just came home and slept off the anesthesia. I did have some heavy bleeding and some cramping yesterday but otherwise just spotting. I'm sorry for your loss.

I went in for a 10 week us and was told we lost the baby at 8w5d. First pregnancy. I was devastated as I had no spotting or bad cramping and did everything that I should have done. I'm doing it the natural way as we thought it was the best option as no side effects from D&C or the pill. I would have been 11 weeks today and I'm still waiting to pass everything. Any advice for when it happens and how? Thanks!

So sorry for your loss I had a mmc at 8 weeks, after seeing the heartbeat also. My d&c was very straight forward. Thinking of you tomorrow.

I personally thought the D&C would be the quickest and easiest way to get it over and move on to trying again. Physically is was pretty easy, I had no bleeding to begin with because mine was a missed miscarriage. I couldn't bare the thought of waiting around for it to pass on it's own and taking a pill to bleed at home on the toilet didn't sound too appealing. I was put under general anesthesia which went very smooth. No pain after either. Slight cramping for a few days, and some bleeding, like a light period. I was able to get away with panty liners most of the time, a regular maxi pad for a couple of days. I'm 6 days post op now, still a little twinge of cramps every now and again and from what I can see no more discharge. As soon as I get my period, hopefully within the month, we can start trying again I believe. Going in for a follow up on the 22nd. So for me it was definitely the right way to go! Good luck and I am so sorry you have to go through this

I ended up having a D&E, which went smoothly. I was at the hospital for 5 hours because the Dr was behind schedule. I thought it would be scheduled for the morning but it was at 2:30pm so I had to fast during the day which was tough.

I hardly have had any bleeding or cramping 24 hours later so I think I lucked out. We were told no sex for 4 weeks. I will find out how long we have to wait to TTC at our follow up appointment in two weeks. We are still sort of shell shocked and the next pregnancy we will have SO much more anxiety in the first tri! It will be the hardest 12 weeks ever...
