No offense to you gals who specifically mentioned your nails (it's all in good fun!!!), but come on! I get the hair appointment if you color your hair, you'll be house bound with the baby for a while. But I mean, getting a french manicure is on your pre-baby to do list? That one in particular showing up on so many lists made me laugh. I like to think I'm girly and enjoy getting groomed, but I wish I had that time and energy to even care what my nails look like when it comes time for my due date. Kudos to you ladies.
It's on my list to get me to take time for myself to relax and to just ease my mind bc it makes me feel better to believe it may put me in labor (haha). I wouldn't necessarily do my finger nails bc what's the point? I'm going to screw them up in an hour anyways.

Do you like the idea of having a "Labor Watch" Thread? We could keep up to date with possible water breaking and contractions and hospital admissions and the like. A bit different than the "am I in labor" thread...but might be too similar (and thus be an UO) in your eyes? Let me know!
I would for entertainment. Can you imagine all the fly by's we will get?? Aside from the occasional serious ones I can imagine we would get a lot of fake/fly by ones.

I hate parking spots for expectant mothers. My grocery store has four spots for expectant mothers and mothers with infants. When I first got pregnant I was like when I'm in my third trimester it'll be great to park right up front and now I still don't feel pregnant enough to use them. It was slightly raining today so I parked in one and felt so guilty the whole time. So I use one and feel guilty or don't use one and then get mad when I can't find a good spot
So this might be more of a fffc thing but I park in them, pregnant or not.

I use them whenever possible with absolutely no guilt! For me it means my 2 year old and my waddling butt can get in and out of the store a little quicker. Hell to the yes.
I'm getting really sick of tipping people who provide shitty service, out of this obligation to do so because they get paid crap wages. Babies are expensive, and I don't have the extra cash to throw out to people who are lazier than my pregnant ass. If I have to give you the death stare to refill my drink or order my food, I'm not tipping you above ten percent.
My first ever job was a waitress (at 16 years old) so I know what it feels like to work a crappy wage and get $2 tip for a table of 2 adults and 5 kids! .....here's the kicker, I hate tipping also. I wish it wasn't an obligation in the US. Countries that don't have this unwritten rule, bless them.
It is important to remember that your tip is part of their wage. In the U.S., servers get paid $2 and change an hour. So tipping is very much part of something we owe the servers.
I know that, I've experienced it firsthand. But that doesn't take away from the fact that I hate it from a consumer standpoint. I wish restaurant owners would just pay their staff reasonable wages instead, but that's just wishful thinking.
There are a few places in the states that pay reasonable wages, and dont actually allow tipping. Dont ask me where though sorry, I just read about them.
No tipping in NZ, almost unheard of. Staff get paid minimum wage, which is around $15NZD (I think around $10USD?). Much easier cause you don't have to work out the bill.

I apologize if I offend anyone with this UO, but I don't get "natural" or unmedicated births at all. I sort of compare it to being able to get a root canal without Novocaine, but since Novocaine has been invented I'm going to use it.
I guess more power to you if you want to feel all the pain, I just don't.
I want to go as "natural" as possible, using only gas because I want to have as much control over the situation as I can. Anything stronger than gas actually passes to the baby so they can be a bit lethargic at birth. Not in itself necessarily a bad thing, but because I had a c-section the first time around, I really want to be able to BF and all that as soon as possible this time. It was so hard having to wait 45 mins to hold baby. Also, the more medication you have, the more likely it is to end up with a c-section, something I really want to avoid if possible.
That said, I am not one of those people who are saying NO to meds. I'm expecting me to want everything in the end and my entire birth plan is "what ever is best at the time". After the ongoing pain of a c-section recovery (I know they aren't all bad but it wasn't fun) I like the idea of something that will (hopefully) be over once baby is here.
I guess power to me then? lol

I'm pretty sure I said this in another thread, but I actually did once have a cavity filled without novocaine just to see what it was like (also because I'm an idiot). The drugs were there and readily available, I just literally told the dentist "no thanks, I'm gonna suffer some unnecessary pain for lols."
It is entirely possible that childbirth will be unimaginably worse than that and I'll totally cave in and go for the drugs (with no shame!), but my rationale for attempting an unmedicated birth at all is exactly the same: I really just want to see what it's like.
Last UO...I'm sooo going to piss some people off saying this BUT: Puppies and rainbows don't help people. I'm a firm believer that this board is about to reenter the territory where questions that shouldn't be asked to internet strangers, redundant symptoms, how can I self induce, am I in labor (for real), and how to prepare for baby are going to be coming in droves around here. Hoping we can get through another threat of war against puppies and rainbow believers and those of us who live in the real world. Cheers to our board staying somewhat unified!

Good thing you said this...cause I swear I was just about to ask when I should whip out the castor oil and chug some down. You pulled me away from that ledge.
My UO is I HATE Cadbury eggs. They are dis.gus.ting.
We also are #2 potty training using Cadbury and Reese's eggs as prizes when she goes. Not sorry bc it's working.
I hate them too!!!! Blegh. And I hate peeps.
YES!!!!!!!!!!! My FIL is obsessed with Peeps. My MIL made him a member of the Peep fan club. He got a hat and a tshirt. It was hilarious.
Ah, Peeps... I haven't eaten them since I was a kid, but my mom always buys a few boxes and then cuts a slit in the wrap so they can get crunchy. Which, to each their own, I suppose.
Oh, and there was a time my mom's work was in a themed Christmas tree contest, and their theme was "Peeps On Earth". My mom googled the word "Peeps" and lo, she did regret it.
I have two today. 1. I don't mind when people comment on how big/small my bump is. I don't feel they are commenting directly on my body. Now if they were to say something like "wow, you've gained a lot of weight this pregnancy!" That's completely different and I would be a little upset. 2. I like seeing random threads throughout the day. I think it's boring seeing the same two or three threads about the same thing each and every week. I'm really debating posting an AW thread about something that happened today, but I feel like it most fits in Winning Wednesday and I can't post there because it's not Wednesday I just think our "thread rules" are annoying. Nevertheless, I won't post a new discussion because now everyone knows my secret UO

I love this. I will never do it, because I am a wuss and faint when I stub my toe, but I am so so so curious about how it would feel and what it would be like.

I doubt it's an UO on here, but @valerie4786mentioned child pageants, and considering popular shows out there like Toddlers & Tiaras, I feel it needs to be said: I find child pageants (or pageants at all for that matter) completely disgusting! What the hell is wrong with people that makes them think it's okay to literally judge little children based on their appearance!? Those poor kids are learning that it doesn't matter how smart or kind they are, as long as they're pretty. I can't imagine a worse message to send to your child! As long as little girls are taught that they should aspire to be beauty queens rather than business leaders and little boys learn that they should rate women based on perceived physical attractiveness rather than merit, it is going to be an uphill battle for all women in the professional world.
@swfljd Totally agree with you. While some may say they don't just base it on looks and appearance alone then why go through making them wear flashy dresses and doing their makeup? They are children. My child will not wear makeup as a CHILD. I want her to feel beautiful without it and when she's old enough to make that decision on her own, then so be it. I can't stand seeing those little girls on TV who are 5 and look 15. Come on now.

This amuses me. The other day coming out of my grocery store, I walked past the expectant mothers parking spot and saw three teenage boys getting in their car. I caught the driver's eye and said "Congrats on your pregnancy" and gave him a thumbs up and they just laughed.

Youths. Lol
I have no problem using the special parking spots. I am just as pregnant as anyone else who might use them! More so than those youths!
PS - That is my favorite gif of all time and I say this very frequently.

I'm going to jump in here on this one. I actually did pageants from when I was about 5-14 or so. The pageants I did were always talent based so they weren't the glam ones you see on TLC. As a kid I just thought they were fun and loved winning a crown here and there. I was a baton twirler for many years and I always found it fun to go out on stage and put on a 2 minute show. Because most of the pageants I did required some type of interview whether on stage or just meeting with a judge it really helped me to develop self confidence in front of people. (I also had some speech issues as a child so it helped me to work through that.) I'm an introvert by nature, but when I have to speak in front of people or am in front of a large crowd I'm not bothered by it at all, and actually thrive in those situations.
I think if you have a child that wants to do them, by all means go for it. Just make sure that you are teaching your child to go about it the right way. My mom never let me go overboard and always taught me to put my best true self out there.
