Want to try again...too soon?

Hi everyone. I had a confirmed blighted ovum on February 25 and a D&C on February 29. The recovery was pretty mild, I didn't have a lot of cramping or bleeding. However, I have had a lot of stomach issues and I can leave it at that - without getting into TMI. My fertility app tells me that I am close to ovulating (based on my information before my pregnancy/MC) - but I know that my system/cycle is more than likely thrown off due to everything that happened. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't tempted to start trying again! I've heard that there is a greater change for another miscarriage if you don't wait until your first period to start trying again. Does anyone have any experience with this - either positive or negative? Was it painful (physically) to start trying again?  I have my follow up for the D&C next week, but my fertility window will be closed by then, according to my app. Thanks!

I know most people around here have been told to wait 1-2 cycles. My doctor is fine with us trying as soon as I have my 2 week post d&c appointment this up coming week. He did say it can take 4-8 weeks for your first cycle after and dating can be more difficult if you don't want for your first period. He also encourages us to try soon than later as some studies show better success rates if you are pregnant again within 3 months versus over 6. I know not everyone has personally found that to be the case themselves and this is my first MMC as well, but we are going to "get at it" as soon as we get the green light Thursday

My RE said we did not need to wait at all.  Have you talked to your doctor?  Although it was no sex (protected or not) for 2 weeks after d&c until my post-op appointment because of infection risk.  It hasn't been too painful physically, although I feel like I have been a little more tender, generally (had a pelvic exam a week after my surgery and nearly jumped off the table).  

Is the app just going off your pre-BFP cycles?  If so, I am not sure how reliable that is, so you may not be missing ovulation if you wait for your appt this week, but you could also call your doctor beforehand.

Thanks for the responses @SnobunnieMel and @BrightenMySky. I have my 2 week post D&C appt on Tuesday, so I am going to speak with my doctor then. Hopefully we get the green light. I'm a little worried about it hurting - but I guess I will have to get over that at some point since we want to start trying again as soon as we can - haha. The App is synced to my pre BFP cycle - so it probably isn't even correct - but seeing that made me think that maybe it was a good idea to start trying when I was supposedly "ovulating". I'll wait to talk with my doctor on Tuesday. I wasn't sure if anyone else had actually gotten pregnant within a month of the D&C and what the outcome was. Thanks!!

@rkroupa you may want to ask that over on the PGAL boards. I have Been lurking there as motivation and proof that there can be a happy ending. I recall seeing some success stories immediately and one cycle after but those ladies can give some first hand experience. Most of us here are still fresh from losses

I mean, my fantasy would be to get pregnant again before I get my period and not know I was pregnant until I was past 11w when I had my loss so I would pass that milestone without knowing it.  The odds of that happening are basically zero (because of our IF issues and the fact that if I didn't get my period for 11 more weeks I would be having blood draws and who knows what else, so even if I did somehow get pregnant, we would definitely know).  Oh well.

My OB recommends that we wait to try after 1 cycle (i.e. after I get one normal AF). I didn't ask her for the reason because I had assumed it was for my body to heal up and get ready. I'll ask her for clarification at my next appointment and see what she says.

My OBGYN said we should wait till 2 cycles have past...I think she wants to see if the 2nd period will come in a reasonable timing and if its duration is 'normal' before we try again. But my Chinese Dr (herbalist) said I don't need to wait for that long...

For my first MC, my ob said to wait one cycle. We did and got pregnant. I unfortunately had another loss. I had a d&c this time, and was told no intercourse for 2 weeks until my post op visit. But my dr said otherwise 3-4 weeks after the procedure we could try again. I know my husband and I aren't ready for this after experiencing two back to back losses, but I wish you all the best! I have not heard or read that your chance of miscarriage increases after you've had one. It's just a 2% chance that you will have another miscarriage. From what I've read if you're 35 or older that increases your chances of having a second miscarriage. Wishing you all the best!

Thanks everyone!! I actually went to my Dr. yesterday and she said that we could start trying whenever we are ready. I've healed from the D&C and everything is fine physically. Emotionally - I'm going to have to work on that one. @fmannino85 - I am so sorry to hear about your back to back losses My heart breaks for you. I definitely tihnk that you should take your time until you are ready to try again. I hope everything goes well for you!!
