Re: GD Weekly Check-In

  • How are you feeling? Eh ok. Sick of dealing with the GD and my OB office.

Rants/Raves/Concerns? waited almost 2 hours today between the end of the ultrasound and the appointment. it was RIDICULOUS! Dr also told me last appointment the baby was estimated to be measuring 2 weeks behind, the US showed he's measuring just fine and in the 73% so he's bigger than average. gah. and now i have to go there every week, which confuses me because she told me last appointment, we would go to every week if I ended up going on insulin, which i'm not and she said all my blood sugar scores look great. /rant over
Raves: glad baby is not too small, but now im a little worried about him being too big...he has been transverse for the last few weeks, but the last few days have felt different, and sure enough he must have turned. so now he's properly pointed down. So i'm relieved about that. Everything else looks good they said.

Food/Recipe ideas? my diet has been: quest protein bars, grilled ham & cheese w/ spinach & tomato, spread cheese & crackers, string cheese, greek yogurt, broccoli & cheese, fruit cups, graham cracker w/ whipped peanut butter..

GTKY: What is one NBR thing you really want to do before your LO arrives? hmm that's tough..almost everything is baby related!! I guess savor some of the time with my husband before we become parents.

  • I just got the news today and go to the dietician on Monday.. Will be checking in here now for support!
  • How are you feeling? Meh. Exhausted in general. Wishing there was some sort of delicious protein that tasted like lemon cakes and Chai Tea Lattes!

Rants/Raves/Concerns? I had to take an A1C blood test last week to profile my last 6 weeks of sugar, which had me feeling nervous. But the doctor was really pleased with the results and said that it is a stronger indicator of things overall since the draws after meals are just snapshots that can be effected by random diet changes, sleep, stress, etc. (because, you know, we aren't dealing with any of those things, right ladies?!). Anyway, it went well so I felt a bit better. My fasting numbers continue to slowly climb, but she doesn't want to put me on the Glyburide just yet because I could easily bottom out my sugars which would be much, much worse.

Also, I am 31 weeks today, which is 5 weeks out from when DS was born, so it's all feeling very real. And I realize I have a crap ton of stuff to get done to ready myself, the house, and DS for baby sisters arrival.

Food/Recipe ideas? I have nothing good to suggest. I go through phases where something is amazing, and then I just can't stand it anymore. I also have to eat SO MUCH more with GD than I normally do, because I have to include the snacks. The problem is that I can never seem to eat when I want to, because I can't start munching snacks until I've tested again. Anyway, presently I'm completely tired of eggs and all breakfast-esque foods. Even cheese is losing it's appeal which is a tragic state of being. Luckily, I'm still enjoying the protein shakes and the protein powder mixed into oatmeal. But I am looking for some new ideas.

GTKY: What is one NBR thing you really want to do before your LO arrives? Well, we are taking DS to a Thomas event this weekend, which will likely be our last big just-the-three-of-us outing. Also, I have my best friend of 25 years coming to visit at the beginning of April. She will be here for the baby "sprinkle", but really that's just a handful of close friends munching treats and chatting in a living room! I'm looking forward spending some time with her.

  • @Sienna516  I feel you on the too many appointments. It is odd that you are being bumped up to every week. Maybe you can clarify why that's happened at the next appointment. Glad that the little guy has gotten himself into a more comfortable position though!

@Vivian0809 Welcome to the thread. I hope everything goes smoothly with your recent diagnosis. Feel free to rant, ask questions, whatever you need.

  • Thank you!!!
This is pregnancy #3, and I've never had it before. Though I do have big babies (both mind were 9'9 and 9'10) and my daughter's birth 4 yeaea ago she had low blood sugar and spent 11 hours in the NICU. If I can avoid that at all, I'm all for it. It really sucked : (
  • This will be my first baby, and I was diagnosed about 2 weeks ago. 31 weeks as of today. I've been tracking my numbers for about 2 weeks now...the morning fasting ones have been high, but the rest are fine. The doc even said the rest are on the low side and I should eat MORE carbs! I never expected that.

My OB is starting my on glyburide, but I'm still waiting to hear more info from the endocrinologist. Baby was in the 86% size-wise, but the OB didn't seem to concerned she was too big. Overall I've had a GREAT team of doctors and nurses this whole pregnancy, I just wish the endocrinologist would get back to me and agree with the OB's opinion on starting glyburide overnight!
