Friends with Babies

Do you have any friends with babies? My husband's friend and his wife are due any day. The friend was teasing my husband about how he has to have one now so I can be his wife's mom-friend. So, her baby will be less than a year older than ours. She is not really my type, so I'm not really looking forward to hanging out with her just because we'll both have babies. But it seems like it's going to go down that way :-) And what if the kids turn out not to like each other? Am I way over-thinking this?

Obviously you don't have to hang out with her just because she also has a baby. I'm sure there are other mommies in your area who you'd actually like! Maybe try a mommy & me-esque class to meet some new people.

@SRose109 is right, you don't have to hang out with her just because you both have babies. But you might be surprised to find that you will like having someone in your circle who is also a new(ish) mom. If you haven't really hit it off with her, you might find that having babies gives you a common ground of something to talk about and bond over. Even though having a baby is a very exciting time, I've found the first year to be very isolating. I'm the first of all my friends to have kids and my SIL is the only other person I'm semi-close to with kids and she's 3+ hours away. Sometimes I wish I had someone around to talk to who knows what I'm going through.
