Guise, I am tired. so tired. DD is zoned out to "Little Einsteins" for the moment, and I just want to finish off this coffee in an IV and bump. Let's hear 'em!
I think the Pinterest fail siggy challenges are so over done. I think my favorite siggy challenge I've ever seen was LFAF's "bangable villains" a few months ago.
So I realized after the Announcing IRL thread that this is an UO, but I don't mind saying "I'm pregnant" to people. I actually love saying it. I feel like I waited a long time to be able to say those words, and they are music to my ears.
@TheTamedShrew That sounds great! I saw Mustashe March mentioned on the siggy challenge thread and liked it. But since I bump mobile right now and can't see them anyway, I didn't say anything.
I'm not a huge fan of ultrasound pictures on social media pregnancy announcements. Like, I know it's a picture of a baby, but it's also a picture of your uterus and inside body parts, and was possibly taken via your vagina and to me it's just on par with a pee stick picture (which are even worse!)
You do you, obviously, but showing off the ultrasound is just not my style.

I never thought of it that way, but you're kind of right... I still share my ultrasound pictures though! Ha.

@PoodleDoodleOoo- I'm in agreement with that actually. I particularly dislike it when it's the sex announcement and is a picture of the baby's genitals. Like, really? I know it's a baby, but let's give them a little privacy instead of putting pictures of their hoo-has on the internet before they're even more. A little weird for me.
@runningisrad- I don't know why I'm daring to ask this as I'm sure it's going to fire me up and get defensive over something so silly, what about Fuller House is the worst? Did you watch Full House growing up? Have you seen it recently? What did you expect Fuller House to be? I'm just curious as I find Fuller House to be exactly 100% what I expected. Cheesey and nostalgic and wonderful.
@owlcup - I think you have to be a pretty huge Full House fan to fully enjoy it. I never missed an episode of Full House and own most of the seasons on DVD. I feel like I grew up with that little family

I'm just going to piggy-back off other UO's. Ultrasounds are just weird in general. Maybe because all three of my kids ended up with ultrasound pictures that made them look like demons. Haha!
The worst are 3D ultrasounds. I hate seeing creepy potato babies! They aren't cute!

I did watch FH growing up and I loved it! I watched the first episode of Fuller for nostalgic purposes. I totally just took it for what it was, and was like "Aw that's kind of cute but also super cheesy." I watched the second episode to see if it got more enjoyable for me but... It did not. I just can't stand the cheesy jokes and schmaltz anymore, even if for nothing else but nostalgic purposes!

I don't have the disdain for Hillary Clinton that some people seem to have. I didn't vote for her, but I wouldn't be upset if she became president. I'm a democrat in a red state, so I am more horrified by the amount of people I live around that voted for Trump on Tuesday. Like who are these people?? I don't know a single person who is voting for him and I live in TN. I guess I just don't surround myself with raging idiots.
With Fuller House, I was a tad disappointed. I was hoping it would be a little more "wholesome". There's too many sex references and boobage... I shouldn't feel uncomfortable watching that with my child. It's rated G but should definitely be PG. I'm only 3 episodes in but I will not allow my child to watch any more.
@runningisradOk. I have said that even if they had just done the 1st episode as a special it would have pleased me. I'm still loving it for what it is.
@TheTamedShrew- I agree with you on all accounts. Full House has always sucked. I can't imagine Fuller House is any better. And I don't think Hillary would be a bad president. At least she is experienced and I'm pretty confident she won't destroy our country. I also have no idea who is voting for Trump, but I live in MN, which put him in third .
Also, I think the caucus system is stupid, but I doubt that is a UO.

Same on ALL points. I don't hate her, but I'm team Bernie. And I also live in Tennessee. There was a d bag behind me on Super Tuesday who was all gung ho Trump. He also griped at the volunteer workers for about 10 minutes about how "dumb" it was that there were only 2 of them. Ugh.

We put the hoo-ha shot on FB with DD. My thought was it doesn't look like a vagina and it said "It's a girl!" on it. We posted it along side a pic of DH holding a girl's onsie, so it wasn't the main show, if you will. If DD is embarrassed by in in 15 years, I'll take it down.

OMG, so true story: When DH got home from the polls he said there was woman there that he overheard saying: "Well, I'll tell ya one thing! I ain't votin' for that FEMALE!"
I also had a friend post on FB about a person behind her in line. The conversation went as follows: Woman behind me at polling place: I don't know what to put here. Pollster: you just need to circle democrat or republican to get the right ballot Woman behind me: but I don't know! Pollster: well, you know who you are voting for, right? Woman: Yes! TRUMP! But is he a democrat or republican? Pollster: he's a republican. Check republican if you want to have the ballot with Trump. Woman: oh, he IS? Ok. I didn't know.

AHHHHHH! People! Get informed before you vote! Not hard! At my friend's precinct, he asked for a ballot and they just handed him a republican one. He said, "No, I'm voting Democrat." And the woman just stared at him and said that's all they had. He told her no, there is another ballot for Democrats. She said, "Well this is all I have. I have to go find the other one." OK super, go do that then. The dumb. It BURNS US.

I'm currently an independent, which in Maine, means I can't vote in primaries. I think I missed my time to change my party lines. I have friends who want to switch to Republican just so they can vote against Trump. My issue is - we need a candidate who is a definite good alternative to Trump. We can have plenty of Anti-Trump campaigns but that only works if there's a unified front for who else to vote for.
I have not researched Republican candidates (as I would be a Democrat if not Independent), so I'm not sure who is the best alternative. We need less "why not Trump" from the other options and more "Why me". Or for 1 or 2 of the others to drop out, and hopefully have their supporters latch onto another non-Trump option.
I hope someone on this board comes on with the UO of being a Trump supporter, because I have yet to meet one openly proud of being pro-Trump in real life and I just want to know Why? What in his platform do you really believe in and agree with, or did he just say 1 thing that you liked? Because he flip flops and lies like nothing else.

I'm a hardcore, bleeding heart liberal and at this point I would take ANY of the Repubs over Trump. I don't like any of them, but as long as it's not Trump, I don't really care at this point. I have one coworker who that I know supports Trump ("Because he makes some really good points"), but he is the only person I've met IRL who supports him.

I just can't get behind the stupid that is Trump and how he could possibly be winning so many states. It seriously concerns me.
Also, ultrasound pictures don't creep me out. Who cares it involves a uterus? I'm looking at the baby, not the rest of the picture. I mean, people post pics of their LLR leggings all the time. If they don't wear underwear it touches their butt! (among other places ) so yea, doesn't bother me. Pee sticks don't bother me either, but they definitely have a place. On your personal page is a bit weird. In groups like this I feel like it comes with the territory.
@AnnaS930 I have several FB friends that are openly, happily Trump supporters. Most from my hometown, an extremely small, non-diverse, Bible-thumping Indiana town. I feel that explains a lot of their support towards him. I've had to unfollow several and avoid FB a lot because I end up pissed off at the things I'm seeing posted.
Indiana doesn't do primaries until May, so we've got another two months until we vote.
I have legit had daydream nightmares about Trump getting elected and how fast he causes World War 3 by not respecting other cultures when speaking to foreign dignitaries. If he's elected I predict he best friends Russia within two months, alienates the Middle East, Mexico, and China. And as a result, China hacks all our technology and/or demands immediate payment for the massive amount of debt we owe them. I just do not see him being president, or being in any form of political office, as a good thing for America.
My FIL is ok with supporting Trump because he "says what everyone is thinking". I didn't realize that everyone was thinking bigoted, ignorant thoughts all the time.
I am also on team Ok With Hillary too. I will vote for Bernie in the primary, but if he doesn't win, I'm not letting trump get elected without a fight...Plus, if Hillary wins, it would be the first time I can say I met a President
Trump supporter, come out, come out, wherever you are!
I apparently dont have UOs within this group on this topic. I prefer Bernie, but Hilary would also be fine. I cannot even begin to understand the people who support Trump. Not even a little. I would love for someone to come in here and explain.
@Thscary - I do hear coworkers toss around the "he says what we're all thinking" phrase every now and then. And I do work with a lot of narrow minded, slightly racist people (I have to put my earbuds in and play my calm-down music frequently). Some of that comes with living in Maine - we have a lot of people who have never left their hometown, never been around diversity and fear/hate what they don't know. We also have a lot of great people who live here and work in my office, but I guess you'd find that mix anywhere.
I caucused for Bernie in a state where he lost by a smidgen (boo), but I'll still vote for Hilary if she becomes the Democratic candidate. As my precinct leader put it -- "I hope we can all come back together when this is done, regardless of the candidate, because who wants President Trump?"
September '16 - May Signature Challenge Awkward Family Fun
My coworker (who has definitely made racist comments to me about her students before...hazard of teaching in Alabama) thinks Trump would be good because he would know how to take control of our budget, bring jobs back to America, and bring never-before-seen economic prosperity because he is a business man. Not like those politicians who have never even tried to manage money before. Plus, he would probably finally bring us some respect in the international sphere again!
I am Canadian, living in the US South for 20 years...I am definitely liberal and met DH in the college democrats at a science and tech university...most of the conversations about politics/race/religion/etc around here are just me blankly staring and making noncommittal noises until the other teachers walk away.
I'm also wondering who is actually voting for Hilary because almost every Democrat I know (and see online) is for Bernie. I'm sure most would vote for Hillary is she got the nomination, but I don't know how she's winning over Bernie.
Also, the only people I know irl that would vote for trump say they will just because they don't like Hilary. I'm still don't get it. Hilary isn't great, but at least she's not the laughingstock of the world.
While I am not a Trump supporter and never have been, I thought that the very beginning of his campaign was entertaining. This was back when I thought that there was no way on earth that he would ever become a serious candidate, nevertheless a front-runner. I just thought that his non-PC, I-don't-care-who-likes-me attitude was so different then we normally see and no one really knew how to react.
I was raised in a Republican family, and in the past I have agreed with certain aspects of the Republican Party. Unfortunately, the Republican Party has strayed very far away from those aspects and are hell-bent on turning the bible into law. And I very firmly believe in a separation of church and state. I do not consider myself a republican, but I also am not very fond of the democrats. Last election I voted Libertarian because that was who I could agree with the most. I will probably vote Libertarian again this time since I don't really care for any candidate from either the Republican or Democrat Party.
In honor of the opinions expressed in this thread, I have changed my profile pic from a pee stick to an ultrasound.
Actually, this just came up in our house because my second grader wanted to take an ultrasound picture to school to show his class. I felt oddly embarrassed about a picture of my uterus being seen by a bunch of children, even though...as someone pointed out...everyone's really looking at the babies! Also strange was that his teacher was okay with this...apparently she is prepared to answer the "where do babies come from" question.
As for Fuller House, I was older when Full House was on and thought it was hoakey. I tried to watch Fuller House, but only made it to Joey doing Bullwinkle before I rolled my eyes and turned it off. Sorry, Full House lovers. I mean no disrespect.
*raises hand* I guess I'll be the brave soul that publicly is Pro Trump. Also, as much as I know y'all are dead set on pummeling me with anti trump propaganda, just know, it's in vain lol. I have no problem listening to others opinions but bashing mine isn't gonna get you to change my opinion.
I was a registered Democrat before he announced his bid to run. The day he announced, I submitted my change of party.
There are a LOT of things I don't like that come out of his mouth. But I appreciate his stance on more things than the other candidates. First and foremost, as petty as it is, I hate HATE political correctness. As a nation, we're a punch of pussies. We get offended over the most ridiculous things. It aggravates me. That alone makes me love him. Because even though he's a racist, misogynistic puritan, he's not hiding behind a facade. He is who he is.
Second, he's a huge supporter of our veterans. As a granddaughter of a Vietnam vet who is suffering from lack of medical care and fighting for benefits he's owed, I find Trumps support of our veterans to be one of his best aspects. These men and women put their lives on the line for us. Some of them in Vietnam went through something called agent orange exposure that is affecting not only them but their kids and grandkids. I believe trump is the only candidate that will put a stop to the injustice these men and women are going through with the VA.
Third, my favorite past president was Kennedy. He didn't take shit from anyone. Someone threatened us, there was no hesitation behind his come back. He got things done. Fast. Yes, it got him murdered (also a huge conspiracy theorist here) but that's another story. I feel like trump has that same fire under his ass to make other nations realize we have ridiculously big balls and aren't afraid to show em.
There are other reasons, but my kid is dying to go outside so I'll save them. I feel like it should be said I'm not the typical trump supporter. At least, not in my area. I'm a swinging, agnostic bisexual woman who is pro choice, pro guns, and pro public nudity.

Yes, my husband's theory about why some support Trump is also economic/jobs/etc. They just ignore all the horrible, hateful things he says. Or the things he says don't bother them, because they aren't targets of his hate-speech.

On the fuller house topic, I LOVED IT!!! I grew up with Full House. And watched the seasons over again with my DD. I am thrilled that a new season has been announced too yea, there were some sexual references but I didn't find it over inappropriate. It was more wholesome than 99% of other "family" shows that I've seen.
I dread Trump becoming the GOP nominee and/or president. I'm really hoping that people will eventually come to their senses and vote for alternatives. We can't collectively be so stupid that we would elect him president right?...right??
I unfortunately work in an office packed with gun-toting, outspoken conservatives who all are vocally supporting Trump as they see him as the most likely nominee. The general reasons are that he tells it like it is (which he doesn't, he flip flops and contradicts himself ALL the time), that he's an anti-establishment pick that won't go along with the normal political games, and that even if they don't think he'd do a good job he's better than Hillary. I can't argue that he's anti-establishment, that much is clear, but it blows my mind that these highly educated people would vote for someone they KNOW is incapable of doing the job just because they don't like Hillary. It's one of the major flaws of being a 2-party system. No one will consider alternative parties or candidates they just vote for who they hate the least.
