Middle name help

Hi all - I need opinions about a middle name for baby boy due in June.

First name is decided, it is August (which I'm a little sad is gaining in popularity since it's a family name and I've wanted to use it for years, but I'll get over it). We just need help with the middle. Last name is very common - starts with M, ends in "en" sound.

August Otto (Otto is another family name)
August Satchel (Satchel is my guilty pleasure name, but H would never use it as a FN)
August Merritt (big fan of Puritan/virtue names)
August James
August George
August Francis (not Catholic, so I'm not sure if people will associate this with the current Pope)

Thoughts?

Love Otto but not with August. I am usually all for GP middle names but satchel is really not good. I vote August Francis and wouldn't associate with pope at all

I can't help it. I love James with almost anything. August James is such a strong name. I don't like August Otto because of the double "Aw" sound but since it's a family name it's not a big deal. I'm sorry but Satchel is really bad.

I like Merritt, James and Francis best. You can't go wrong with those!

I personally like the pairing of August with either James or George... the others seems a bit too much. I love August, we were considering it if our LO was a boy, but definitely think it needs to be paired with a simple, traditional name. Even thought August is a traditional name, it's still a bit more unique, so pairing it with any of the first 3 options seems a bit much. And Francis just isn't my style.

I prefer James or George. I'm not Catholic, but I'd associate Francis with the Pope.

If Satchel is IHO Satchel Paige then that gets my vote. I am all about a good baseball name.

I also like George and Francis. I'm biased because one of my sons is named Francis. There are a lot of non Catholic Francises in history that I don't think you need to worry about it too much, especially since you are using it in the MN spot.

I don't know if I can say in IHO Satchel Paige, but that is where I came across the name and have loved it ever since!

Satchel is an easily recognized euphemism for scrotum in several military units I've been in. Please don't use it on a child. If you don't hail from the US though, it would/could be a totally different story.

ETA: August James is a magnificent combination.
