When's your first appointment?

I might die. Last time, I weaseled my way into a 5w5d appointment. This time, I have to wait until 3/24, a literal eternity. (I know it's not really, and it's standard, but jeez. This wait is the worst wait in pregnancy!)

How long do you have to wait?

I don't have an OB yet, but I had to get in w/ my PCP because I'm on blood pressure meds (pregnancy safe) and need a refill/check up to make sure they're working. So I called to make that appointment and asked if I could do a blood draw too and they said no problem... so I'm going in a week from Monday. Being a FTM I have no idea what the hell I'm doing so I figured I'd get a blood draw and make sure my levels look ok and then make an appointment with an OB. Does that make sense or am I being crazy? Should I just make an appointment with an OB? 
ETA: I heard that some insurances want a confirmation of pregnancy from a PCP before they'll pay for an OB appt. My husbands company just changed how we get our medical ins. information so he has to make a phone call on Monday to get ahold of it.

I don't think you necessarily need a blood draw, they aren't standard practice unless you have a history of loss/infertility. You definitely want to see an OB between 6-8 weeks for a dating ultrasound and so you can make your 12 week appointment for the NT screening (I know I have to go to a different office for that)

@talkthewholetime ah ok that makes sense. For some reason I thought that you had to do a blood draw first, like I said, I have no idea what I'm doing. I think I'll scrap that and just call tomorrow to make an appointment with an OB. Although I don't know if I can take the suspense!

I'm going tomorrow to get confirmed by the clinic (military family so it's required before they will set up an appointment). I'm hoping to get seen by spring break so I don't have to take off any work. That would be end of March time frame. Last pregnancy I didn't get seen until around 10weeks.

@peachykeen17 If your insurance covers it and it makes you happy, there's no harm in the blood draw. It won't tell you much as a single draw though, just that you're pregnant. It's usually multiple draws to make sure the number is doubling properly for SAIF peeps.

For real, the suspense might kill me dead this time.

@hippiegirl884 are you a teacher too? I'm hoping to get my 12 week done over our spring break (i'm in the NE where we take ours later in April)

I'm just waiting for a call back form my RE's office telling me when to come in for my first beta and an ultrasound. I'll be followed by them until 7-8 weeks or so then flipped over to high risk OB/MFM. My first appointment will probably be this week because of that, but if this were a typical pregnancy it probably wouldn't be until 8 weeks.

I go in for my first appt 3/7 (just to confirm) and then I'll probably have my first U/S at 7 weeks like last time.

I have my first on Friday (I'll be 5 weeks). It was supposed to be 3/24 but since I start work on the 7 and won't know my schedule after I wanted to get in earlier and they happened to have a cancellation! 
I'll see my family dr for about half my pregnancy. She will then refer me to my OB or another family dr (depending on what I choose) that will take me through including delivery.

Yes! I'm in CO so we have ours the end of March, but we are done for the year end of May

3/25. The doctor I saw for my first two doesn't do vbac (or the hospital doesn't allow it due to not having an anesthesiologist on staff 24/7, small town) so I'm changing to a midwife a little bit away. My old doctor did appt right away for blood draw and then a dating US shortly after. I'm not sure how the midwife will be doing things.

I teach music, and I'm a little worried for my poor little friends at work. Last time they didn't play loud instruments for about three months because I had a migraine every single day, lol

I teach music, and I'm a little worried for my poor little friends at work. Last time they didn't play loud instruments for about three months because I had a migraine every single day, lol

Last time I taught middle school and managed to have my foods unit at the end of the pregnancy but this time it's high school culinary so food all the time!

I go for my first appt and ultrasound on 3/28. I'll be 8.5 weeks, and it feels SOOO far away!

I already had an appointment scheduled for Wednesday. I know they won't be able to tell me much but it may give me a little peace of mind since I have a history of miscarriage...

Last time, I didn't get seen til I was 10 weeks. I am not sure what it'll be like this time around. I'm hoping 8 or so weeks...

Yeah last time it was definitely close to the 10 week mark for me.  Sigh.  I'll call tomorrow and see when they want to see me.

Mine is at exactly 8 weeks on 3/22. I also have a nurse "phone" visit the week before for historical info.

Also - weird - I'm scheduled for an US? I didn't get my first scheduled US until my 12 week visit with DD (we ended up having an earlier one at 6 weeks because I had some bleeding). Same Doctor, same office...is an 8 week ultrasound becoming a thing?

It was a thing for I would say 90% of my last BMB but I have heard of
practices not doing them.

It was a thing for I would say 90% of my last BMB but I have heard of

Ok cool! Maybe I didn't get an 8 week one last time because I had the earlier US. It's a pleasant surprise, I was thinking I'd be waiting 12 weeks!

I haven't made my appointment yet. I work in the hospital where I'll be getting my care (on the same floor as the ultrasounds but in a different office/department) and I keep replaying this scenario in my mind where I'm walking out of my first appointment and my boss sees me.  I know there's nothing I can do about the possibility but I stress about these things. 
Anyway, I think I'll pop over on my lunch break today to make an appointment.

I just found out I was expecting last Thursday and they scheduled me for an appointment this morning. All it was was a confirmation of pregnancy, a Q + A session, and a way to figure out my due date. My first ultra sound is at the end of this month

April 1st at nine weeks. The scheduler I talked to at the clinic didn't give me much information except it's an hour long appointment and they will do an ultrasound. I'm just kinda assuming everything is normal until I find out otherwise.

So I called my OBGYN office this morning and was scheduled for blood work and an ultrasound on 3/18 (I guess I just see techs at this appointment). Then I come back to see my actual OBGYN on 4/13 to discuss the test results, provide medical information and ask her any questions we have. I was already scheduled for my yearly women's visit, but they canceled it to bring me in sooner for the blood work and ultrasound. I am glad they did because I would probably have been batty by then lol.

I've had 2 betas done already which showed that the numbers where more than doubling, so I just scheduled our first OB appt and u/s for 3/16! I'll be 6.5 weeks.  I'm so excited. I hope these 2 weeks go fast!

My first appointment isn't until 3/30, but my new provider does bedside ultrasounds, where my previous one didn't, so I'm excited about that!

I already had an appointment for a regular Pap smear on 3/7 so I'm just keeping it. I'll be a little over 5 weeks, so I know I won't be able to see much of anything on an u/s, but I'm leaving shortly after that for a trip to the US. I'd like to make sure everything is fine before leaving.

My appointment changed kind of. I'll be seeing the doctor I saw for my first two on the 15th and will see the midwife who will hopefully be deliverying this baby as a successful vbac on the 25th. I will see my original doctor for the first two trimesters to save on driving (delivery hospital is 1.5 hours away) and then alternate seeing both during the last trimester.

Ok so I decided to call and make an appt. with an OB. Gonna cancel the appt/blood draw with my PCP. My first appt. is March 24th and then apparently I have to wait until April 27th to get an US. Does that seem really far out to anyone or is that normal? I'm 5 weeks tomorrow. ETA: Okay, looks like thats not that abnormal. Never mind.

I also had to go in to get a blood draw today because I had some light brown spotting saturday and again today. Feeling real nervous.

My first appointment is 3/16. I'm convinced I'm at 4w2d because I've been temping, but based on my LMP I'd be over 6 weeks. The receptionist said I could come in this week for an ultrasound based on my LMP, but I told her I wanted to wait 2 weeks (until I'm actually 6 weeks pregnant). I can't take seeing an empty sac like last time, so I definitely don't want to go too early. Can't rush this shit!

Mine is tentatively scheduled for March 31st, which will be around 8 weeks. Just usual first appointment stuff, though, no U/S. Last time, I had just started to see an RE so I had an U/S at 6 weeks and 8 weeks. Totally different story this time and it makes me kind of anxious.

Fx for good results! If it's any consolation I had two spotting episodes and one full-on bleeding episode in the first tri when I was pregnant with DD. So bleeding doesn't always mean problems, especially this early.

@sweetlyuntied Thank you! This whole pregnancy thing is an emotional rollercoaster. I'm hoping everything is ok, but I had some dull aching in my back yesterday kind of like how it feels before I get my period. I work on my feet all day, lifting patients and wheelchairs and what not, so I'm hoping its just that. But I heard that back pains and spotting is not a good sign. Anyway, the FX are much appreciated.

I have a confirmation appointment on March 15 at 6 weeks. They will confirm the pregnancy, do an internal exam and have a consultation about how their practice works and what I can expect as well as go over what testing we can opt to have done. I also have an ultrasound scheduled on March 31 at 8+2. It is so far away but I am excited that it is THIS month.

I just called and made my appointment. She got me in for this Friday morning. I'll be 4w1d. So we'll see how it goes. I have a history of loss (prior to our first son)  and preterm labor (with our first son) so they might do an u/s for shits and giggles just to see. My OB was amazing during my pregnancies with my sons, so I know they'll do whatever to ease my mind.
