  • I may or may not be that helicopter parent on the playground. Until my DS has had more experience on the equipment, I don't feel comfortable sitting on a bench too far away to catch him if he fell. Last weekend he was collecting sticks off the ground and lining them up in a pile, so I gladly took a break and watched him do that, but the minute he starts climbing those steps up to the slide, I'm back to within a 2-foot radius of him. I know I need to let him fall and get hurt so he can learn, but he hits his head enough playing at home, so I'd prefer for him to not get any extra bruises at the park until he's had some practice climbing, etc. Also, he doesn't go to daycare (my mom watches him during the week), so I feel like I need to be around him to correct him if he's mean to other kids. He'll say, "No" and try to push another kid out of the way because he doesn't want to share the slide or the tunnel. Am I being uptight?

Note: DS is 22 months... so, not sure when people consider it keeping a safe distance and when it's hovering/overbearing.

Maybe we scared off all the crazies???
Must have. All of us that are left are too smart to start a special snowflake name post once a week, complain about someone wanting to throw us a shower or give us a gift, or start a photo included mucus plug thread.

Trolling 2nd/3rd tri boards for MUD posts to laugh at is my new favorite.
is 3rd tri any good? It seems slower than 2nd tri. Is march still over there peeing on all the posts?

  • The pre-pregnancy Old Navy button up shirt I am wearing today is hinging on crop top territory...I am grateful for layering tanks and I am in denial about needing to buy overpriced maternity shirts. Lame FFFC.
I still get shellac manicures and my hair highlighted whilst pregnant...Is that more juicy?

damn stuck in QBF. I vote no- I got full on color at 15 weeks. Can't give up everything !
  • @soberkfell - If it makes you feel better, I'm the same way at the park on the jungle gym. DD is a bit of a daredevil :o .

I feel like there's a difference between hovering and making sure they're playing safe when they're that little, though. One time DD actually slipped and fell off the steps going up and her hood got caught during the fall, so she never actually hit the ground. My heart about stopped - it scared the shit out of me.

    1) one of my students ALWAYS wants to tell me stuff (like today, it was how she wanted to be so sure she did her homework that she almost did it twice!) and I don't care.

    2) I'm really not that bothered by people's interchangeable use of sex and gender. (This is true for many other things too though, to be fair, like Black vs. African-American ...although my feelings on the latter are an entirely different topic.)

Also... I'm kind of relieved we're having our second girl so I don't have to make a circumcision decision!
Yes! Just before we found out I was researching it and talking with my husband. Now I don't have to think about it until next baby!
  • 1) I'm now curious about KASG's opinion on black vs AA

    2) I caved and did the panorama screening. I never do any screening. But the science was interesting. So I did it. DH likes to be prepared anyway. And in want to compare sex results against the anatomy scan in a few weeks.

  • As for the circumcision opinions,  I am team #WhatWorksForYourFamily and #NoneOfMyBusiness
I am having aboy, and our mind is made up. I do not plan on telling if we do or do not. There is so much research for it and against it. Even the AAP is very neutral in saying 'hey, there are some great reasons to do it, but if it is not your your family, then that is fine too'. I can find the actual in for (again) if wanted.

I need @nerdchild to give me the tl;dr run down on the research like she did over on that smoking thread in 1st tri.  My other FFFC: I'm making my husband decide on circumcision because I don't care either way and slogging through inconclusive research sounds terrible.

  • I mostly look in the background of HDBD pictures to see your home furnishings.  I'm not that interested in the bumps.  (Ugh.. that makes me a terrible voyeur.  Oh well!)
So did you enjoy my filthy basement from about a month ago? ;).

Haha - I'm not judging - I swear.  I just love seeing how people decorate.

Mine might be weird. I hate pregnancy sex. And the fiance and I haven't done anything since finding out about this baby. We did with our daughter but.....just no. Poor guy but no. Maybe this is TMI XD

Also using having a cold as an excuse not to do much today. Go me.

@TM14 I am with you. I can count the number of times DH and I have done the deed since I got pregnant on one, maybe two hands. And the few times we have, it's because he takes such good care of me and doesn't complain about not getting any, so I try to surprise him once in awhile but I still don't like it. Like, at all.

We're having company tonight-thankfully just my sister and her husband-but I am feeling so miserable from this cold (like many of you other ladies-hang in there!) that I don't think I'll get up off the couch. Also knowing that DH and I set aside the afternoon to do our taxes make me hate everything today. I just want a bottle or four of wine..
Oh man, I'm the opposite. I mean, I don't want it ALL the time, but he can't get over the life growing in me. Like dude, suck it up! It's fine!
