So I know you said you've got a book going on some other topic from when you were on bed rest with your son, but you should totally write up all of your church stories. I'd buy them:) Also, they are brilliant.
Got my 1hr glucose results and I passed so I'm having a caramel frappuccino! Which is way better than the caramel corn low fat rice cakes I've been eating also, work has been so slow today that I'm knitting and going through catalogs and buying things I probably don't need... Hopefully my SO won't be too upset when the mail shows up next week!
DH is gone for a few weeks out of these next few months before he deploys for 8 months in June. To make me feel better I've been on a shopping spree online all day today and I've ordered way too much takeout since he left 3 days ago. It JUST hit me how much I've actually spent and I really need to stop. Whoops! All of the cannolis I've eaten in the past three days were totally worth it, at least.
Let the fasting begin! 3 hour glucose test tomorrow at 8:15. No food again till 11:30-12. I should probably just stop thinking about it bc it's already making me hungry.
Has anyone else been on a sugar binge since the glucose test? I have a sweet tooth anyway but since passing my one hour I MUST have something sugary every day. Maybe I grew extra sweet teeth.
I bought the peanut butter multigrain Cheerios and the cinnamon almond protein Cheerios yesterday and now I'm obsessed! DH is having ice cream for a late dessert and I'm having cereal.
So...my bp was elevated last time I was seen by my ob (2 weeks ago) and was super elevated today. I'm waiting to get called back for bloodwork now and they're sending me home with a collection container so I can collect 24 hours worth of urine starting tomorrow morning. They said they'll run more bloodwork when I bring in my pee container on Thursday and they want to see me in a week to discuss results as they're concerned about pre-eclampsia. My husband is deployed, my family lives across the country, I'm severely allergic to all narcotics and due to my chronic pain condition, the usage of epidural or spinal block pretty much goes out the window (I'm saying this because obviously if I'm diagnosed the chances of c-section go way up) and now I'm freaking out about having to have this baby early, with nobody around me, and with huge hurdles to jump as to get he or she here safely. Is there anything I can do now to help better my chances at NOT receiving a diagnosis next week? I've been following the Brewer's diet and my Bradley instructor checks our weekly eating at our meetings and she says it looks great, so I'm not sure that diet is an issue. Just wondering if there's anything at all that I can do or if it's out of my hands at this point in time.

@ncm0328 I am so sorry you are dealing with this, especially without a support system close-by. The best advice I can give you is to take it easy and take care of yourself. At this point, you should make sure that you are really amping up your fluid intake and not stressing your body too much. Be vigilant with the pee collection and make sure that you follow all directions about keeping it refrigerated and not contaminating the urine. I would also recommend limiting your sodium intake as well and focusing on nutrient rich whole foods like veggies. Unfortunately, it can be hard to tell how progressed your body is as far as just high blood pressure or the start of pre-e. Keep very aware of any symptoms you may experience like pitting edema (swelling that makes your ankles look doughy, not just bloated), changes in vision, or severity of headaches. Also be aware of different positions that may cause you to feel light-headed or nauseated. I know for me I was only comfortable lying slightly propped up on my left side. Any other position (sitting, standing, etc) would make me dizzy and faint after a few minutes. But also know that high BP does not necessarily mean pre-e and can be managed with meds as needed for the last few months.
Whether you receive a diagnosis or not, every body is so different that you could easily make it to term without a complicated birth. Or, you could have an early delivery with minimal complications. Or, well, I won't freak you out too much but even if you have what happened to me, you will still be able to push through. FTR, I have a condition that causes me to have unpredictable reactions to anesthesia (apparently only 10% of the population has it so whoopie to me!) so with my emergency CS, I didn't have any spinal or epidural. I had local on the skin, but felt everything else. Honestly, it wasn't that bad. The pain receptors in our muscles and organs react differently than pain receptors in the skin so as long as they can numb your skin for the initial cut, it doesn't hurt so much as just feel weird and uncomfortable. But, of course, that is in the case that you need a CS and even in my case, they thought I could deliver vaginally at first so it is not a definite that all moms with pre-e need a CS.
ETA: Please keep us updated and feel free to PM with any questions. Warm thoughts and prayers to you and your LO
Question..I had my tdap vaccine last week and the injection site is still swollen and tender. I'm going to the doc tomorrow and will bring it up then, but in the meantime, has anyone else experienced this? Usually when I get a shot everything is back to normal in a day or so. Am I insane for letting it go this long?

Hey there - you've got some good support on here! The good thing is that your OB is on top of things - getting the bloodwork done and 24hr urine. It is good to catch pre-e in the early stages. If your OB was worried, you would be sent directly to the hospital. Are you working? Could you work from home? Anything to relieve stress might bring your BP down. I say might because true pre-e is out of your control. Vaginal delivery is still possible as pre-eclamptic women often respond well to induction agents. But yes, your chance of a c/s is increased. But before we jump to delivery, you might be able to control your BP with meds like labetolol or even hydralazine (short term). Good Luck to you and keep us updated! We are here for you!

@laurenmdrn16 thanks so much for sharing your insight from your experience with me, kind of calmed my nerves a bit. I'm going to do my best and try not to stress until we go over results next week.

It might just be because you're pregnant and more sensitive? I had mine done yesterday and it's a little tender. It wasn't until last night. It's not too bad now though, definitely getting better. Did you bruise?

@ncm0328 I don't really have anything helpful to say that others haven't already said. I just wanted to let you know that I am thinking about you. Thankfully the OB caught it so soon so maybe it won't be too bad yet and they'll be able to try and do something about it?

@ncm0328 Hugs! I know it's hard to hear there might be something wrong, but try to relax the best you can. Pre-E doesn't necessarily mean c-section. When they found that I had pre-E with DD I was admitted to the hospital on strict bed rest and 24 hour monitoring. I'm not going to lie, it sucked, but I was able to keep DD in until 37 weeks. She was born via a successful induction.
If if you do have it there's nothing you can do at this point to change that, nor could you have prevented it. They did put me on a low-sodium diet in the hospital but it made no difference in my BP readings. I think they just wanted to try to prevent my BP from getting any higher than it already was.
@yogahh I was really happy with my weight gain the last 2 weeks so I ate donuts for lunch. I don't regret anything!

I had mine done about a week ago, and it felt like my arm was going to fall off for the first few days. I've been sleeping on my left side, and they gave me the shot in my left shoulder. I could hardly sleep for days because it was so sore.
@ncm0328 your doctor sounds like they're being cautious and proactive, so you're in great hands. I had high blood pressure before both pregnancies and it's been really well controlled by a very low dose of labetalol, so hopefully it's just high bp and not pre-e and you have that as an option. Thinking positive thoughts and I hope you get good news at your appointment.
@ncm0328 I know how you feel! I've done the 24 hour collection myself last month. Currently I'm monitoring my blood pressure from home at least 3 times a week and seeing my Dr more frequently. I haven't had a rise in protein in my urine yet but they have diagnosed me with pregnancy induced hypertension. They want to induce me early which makes me more than a little concerned about a c-section as well. I'm trying to stay relaxed about the whole thing. I have a growth ultrasound planned for around 32 weeks, and then they will start doing non stress tests as well. I'll be thinking of you and hope you have good results at your next appt!
@ncm0328 thoughts and prayers! hope the dr is just being cautious and that you're a-ok.
@pylwhammy this didn't happen to me with TDAP (I had it Friday and the swelling is almost gone) but when I got my flu shot in the fall that exact thing happened to me and I even felt a little bump under the injection site for literally weeks after I got the shot. I asked my dr about it but nothing was wrong, just a weird reaction.

This pregnancy I've narrowed down my restaurant choices to those that deliver or have curbside. That's it.
