My shower was a couple wks ago hosted by my aunts and held at my dads house in LA. It was amazing, there were 24 attendees and we just had the most amazing time
@dsmith211 Let's hope jerkface lets you have your cake this time!!
Ha. He'll probably show up too just for the free food. Funny thing is one of the hosts knows about the previous incident so she'll probably mess around with him.
I'm also getting another shower now! Excited because i can stop feeling guilty for a bunch of people not invited! My mom and one of my good friend's moms are co-hosting my shower, and so this one is for all my best girlfriends and the mom friends of our friend circle. I invited a couple of my husband's friends' wives that I know a little better and his mom, but mostly it's people from my circle. His boss usually throws a baby shower for work but was too busy this time around (and threw us a wedding shower about 8 months ago, so totally fine), but kept bugging my husband about why men weren't allowed at my baby shower, and I kept getting questions about why so-and-so wasn't invited, etc.
Finally my husband just told me that the boss is throwing us a small shower one afternoon at the end of the work day. Perfect. I don't need more gifts, just feel bad like I was excluding people that at the same time, would be really out of place at my shower.

Where did you get your dress?!? It's so perfect! What a cute shower.

Thank you!! It's by free people, and I bought it like 3 weeks ago from Macy's so It's most likely still in stores. It's so flattering, I love it. The best part is- it's not a maternity dress so you can wear it during pregnancy and post-partum
Everyones shower looks amazing! I'm so excited because I checked my registry and so many big things were bought! I'm so excited, I didn't know people liked me that much lol!
I'm a STM so no shower for me but having a sprinkle on April 30th. But I just wanted to say I love all the pics of the beautiful mommas to be and the cute decorations!

My baby shower was this weekend. It was Superhero themed. It was awesome! I had an amazing time and we got tons of the things we registered for and many other useful things we didn't think to register for. We are both grateful! Here are some pictures:
I had my shower on Saturday. It was great. We got above and beyond what we could have even imagined. They created a hashtag for my shower that I knew would come into play and my child would never live it down. #destinyschild. My name is Destiny, so there's that lol.
I hope you end up getting things off your registry!! I hate it how sometimes people buy stuff not on the registry, there is the reason there is a registry. I know that sounds selfish, and don't get me wrong, I appreciate any gift.. but sometimes the things people give aren't helpful.
This!! My registry has been passed around to everyone in my family because they asked for one. I never intended to make one but people made a fuss of wanting to feel included since I am so far. I use Facebook to communicate with my family in the USA and a month or so ago I posted a photo of my baby blanket I am crocheting. Everyone knows I love to crochet and knit! A family member sent a message right after saying that the blanket I started is nice looking but she is knitting me one. This is not the only message I have received about people knitting and crocheting blankets for baby. I will end up with a million blankets and an unused registry at this point!! I feel so selfish and snotty about the whole thing so I obviously haven't said a word, but jeez people...Why did I bother making a registry at all?!
For the completion discount!
Sadly I couldn't find any registries in NZ that had any form of completion discount and the shipping for USA registries was so high that I would have spent WAY more just to get the stuff here.
Love all the shower photos ladies! I am absolutely in love with the Dr Seuss and Superhero themed ones! Those tiny crocheted superheroes are so cute!
Who has ideas for shower host gifts? My MIL put together a beautiful and amazing shower for me this weekend and I would really like to do something for her. I was thinking flowers and a card but would love to do a little something extra. Thought y'all might have some good ideas, my brain is mush after spending the weekend running around.
One is April 10th and the work one is April 15th. I've never been one to believe in baby showers because our culture states not to celebrate until the baby is literally in my arms. However, I have friends that wanted to throw me one anyway and I am very grateful. No one is telling me anything! Haha so all I'm doing is stalking the registry. I would like the Mamaroo gliding chair, the Skip and Hop diaper bag, Graco Betsey playpen, Infantino Turtle Play Gym. There are some clothes and toiletries on the registry as well as diapers and a little bathtub.
I'm very excited. Mom is in charge of the food so I will help with that. Husband will help in the morning to set up- I'm not allowed to see anything until I go downstairs. We have a gazebo area by the pool in my building and that's where it will be held. I only have like 10 people coming (don't have many friends) but quality over quantity any day.
The one at work is a potluck so whoever does come- will bring a dish. No one is telling me anything about that one either haha so we will see.

Maybe a gift certificate to her favorite restaurant? Salon? Or spa?? That's what I'm going to do for my host.

@bkjade I'm sure you'll find some great ideas on the other thread, but I'll post anyway..my hosts were both into sewing, so I bought them each a gift card to Joann's. I think a gift card is usually a good bet, as long as it's for someplace they go often
My work shower is on Tuesday (I think). While it's not as fun and special as a shower thrown by friends and family I am glad I get something at least... And looking forward to the pizza we always have at parties.
Our shower was today. I'm feeling so loved and so thankful for all of the work that was put into it and for all of the amazing gifts! It was literally all helpful stuff. So excited!
@Charissadeats I would have gained like 5 pounds in one day at your baby shower!! lol There were three different desserts at my baby shower and I have a small piece of every one of them. Yikes.
@Knottie11433777995 How cute!!!! I love how your shower looked. You look adorable too, I love that picture with you and your friends. You are absolutely glowing!

We just had our shower in my hometown this past weekend. My sister and SIL did such an amazing job! It was beautiful! Unfortunately, my phone died just a few minutes into the shower, so all the pics of me with guests are on DH's phone. I got these shots of the decorations before my phone died, though.
So adorable! How did you make the little collages? I could do it in PS but I'm way too lazy--hope you had an ap or something, lol.
I love everyone's super cute showers!! Mine was Sunday. I was having an anxiety attack that morning, but once I got there and got in the room, I was able to calm down. There were many many people (about a third of whom neither I or DH know; they're MIL's extended family) so despite the space being rather large, it was incredibly hot. Everything went well aside from the awkwardness of opening the presents from MIL's extended family since I had know idea which name on the present went with which actual person, so it was an exercise in saying a name and guessing where they were (MIL, AIL, and GMIL did help with that). I was most excited that one of my cousins was actually able to get off of work and come up with my aunt (her mom). They were the only two family members who were able to be there aside from my mom and aunt who were throwing the shower, and I was so so happy they were able to make it.
I actually only have one kind of blurry picture from the day; I should have taken more myself but I didn't end up being able to. So, here I am showing off a blanket I just opened:
Haven't gone through the photos from the weekend, but found this one posted on Facebook of me making a really weird face with DH covered in baby clothes. Such a great time!
My mom and sister threw mine, and they went with a sort of vintage tea party theme, which these pictures do not do enough justice to! Not pictured: the sandwich tray (cucumber & mint, pimento cheese, and egg salad), the stations for iced tea & lemonade, and the hot tea station she set up (aside from the cups). It was absolutely beautiful and I totally cried like a million times.
My family threw me a Surprise "Sprinkle" this past weekend. I was legitimately surprised, and just overwhelmed and humbled! This is my third child...but we were "done" years ago. My kids are 8 and 6, and we had given everything away a long time ago! So I am very grateful! It was a beautiful day, the weather was perfect so we were able to stay outside and it was a "Tea Party" theme
This morning, my co-workers threw me a surprise shower at our office. They really went all out with it! Balloons, streamers, breakfast casserole, fruit trays, coffee cakes, cookies, pastries, bagels, muffins. We have a fairly large department (30+ people), so I don't get to work directly with everyone on a regular basis. It was so awesome getting to have such a nice breakfast and just visit with everyone. They got me a HUGE diaper cake stuffed full of goodies (three different sizes of diapers, hats, mittens, socks, onesies, bath toys, wash cloths, towels, burp cloths, swaddle blankets, receiving blankets, stroller toys, and a custom onesie with our company's logo). It's so big that I'll need help carrying it out to my car - that's if it even fits in my car! They also gave me a really sweet card with a $400 BRU gift card! I couldn't believe how generous everyone was! I feel so blessed to work with such amazing people - so much so that I'm not looking forward to maternity leave and not seeing them for a couple of months. I will update with pics once my-coworker sends me the ones she took.
