Our LO has no name yet. DH has thrown out the most rediculious so I've refused to even discuss the topic again let me tell you a couple plumbee, and barthalamule yeah not for me. (Not to offend anyone who might like these names)
I had more girl names we know he middle name will be robert after his FIL who passed three months before we got married so it's a special way we can honor him.
Haven't read all the comments yet. I going 1 page at a time. @CourtJack I actually know a few men and a couple kids named fletcher and I love it. It's a good old fashioned name that grows we'll into adulthood.
I can't keep up! Or tag everyone because I don't remember who asked.
@VikingGirl12 I would also wait to name her. Maybe narrow down a few and decide when she is here.
I like Hadley and love Haddie as a nickname.
I think Sean is a good name. Just bad association for me.
For those of you worried about baby not having a name don't worry. We had a very hard time finding a name for our son. When he was born the doctor set him on my chest and a nurse asked what his name was. My answer was I don't know. We named him a couple hours later.
Luckily this time we have found a boy name we can agree on. I'm hoping H doesn't change his mind which is definitely possible. But for now a boy will be Arlo James. (All our kids have family names for time he mn)
As for a girl we are at a loss. I am stuck on Cora and he says no way. I just really don't love anything else. The only name he has said maybe to is Violet but again I don't love it. So if baby is a girl it will likely not have a name for a while.
@CourtJack I LOVE the name Fletcher and I agree the more I see it and said it the more I love it!
@amberliz99 I had a few name suggestions for you that others already said but I wanted to add Aubrey. That was my top name for a girl but this LO is a boy of course ha.
@mamabird24 I agree that my first thought of Primrose is The Hunger Games but I actually kind of like it.
H and I have made no progress on names. He doesn't like any of the names I suggest and the ones he hasn't completely said no to he says he "thinks we can do better" but hasn't given any suggestions. I'm going to take PP's advice to print out the top 1000 names and make him go through them all. The only names still in the running are:
@ahernandez16 I suggested Sebastian too! DH didn't go for it either. I like Lincoln!
@arteduc8 What a pretty list! My favorite is Cecilia
We are settled on Matteo. My husband is Italian and we wanted an Italian name, but I couldn't get on board with Ferdinand or Ferruccio We'll be calling him Teo (tay-oh) most of the time.
Picking a name was hard for us, but I think we found one that feels right for our little guy. Harrison Gerald. (Gerald after my grandpa and DH's aunt who just passed.) My dad was like "You don't want people to call him Harry!" Lol! I'm FINE if people call him Harry (I'm a huge Harry Potter fan!) But Harry isn't even short for Harrison! O_o
@Boonhilde Love Harrison! We have a friend with a boy named Harrison and I've never heard him called Harry (although I'm with you, I don't mind Harry for short)
@MillerMama13@gray51015@btorgers@AmberLiz99@Hbraun200 - try having DH talk to a close friend/someone at work about the list of names you have. DH hated a name I liked an always made fun of it, but now he's mentioned it to one of his sisters and a few girls at work and he likes it now.. May be worth a shot!
Clever! With out last son I liked the name Hansel or Hans, but DH wasn't on board until I pointed out he could go by Han. Lol! (And I'm a Star Wars dork too, so that would suit me fine.)
@shannonrnbsn I like Ryan and Silas is different but I like it. I think its a bible name right? @MillerMama13 I think Presley would make me think of Elvis too. Harper is nice but I agree it is trendy. I don't know if the meaning of names is important to you or your DH but I think the meaning is Harpist. I love Grace for a middle name but DH isn't too keen on it. I'm still pushing it though. We're team green so it may not even be an issue. @Hbraun200 I don't see how Miles Lawrence is girly at all. @MeganF08 I think Brandy Elaine is nice but if you want her to go by Lanie than why not Elaine Brandy? @CourtJack I think Fletcher is a good choice. Not too common or trendy. @jaceyannie I like your choices. Sean Michael, I'm not getting an 80's association with it. Dylan Jack is nice too, maybe a DJ nn in his future? @NicknShan those are all nice choices, maybe wait until baby is born to decide? @AmberLiz99 hmm..2 syllable names I can think of Sydney (my DD's name ), Sadie, Morgan, Lexie, Reagan, Lauren, Laurel, Sophie, Maya, Zoe, Chloe @sgoldberg247 I always thought Margot was short for Margaret? I agree though it should have a t on the end. @Tawny87 before we were even pregnant with our first we loved Kamryn for a girl's name but then a good friend of ours who actually was pregnant decided to name her son Cameron so that took it out of the running for us. I think Cameron for a boy is a great choice. I agree I would give your SIL a fake name to steal! lol
@Emztron500 how do you pronounce Tycho? For the girl name I would probably choose Margot or Astrid. The others are a bit too old fashioned for me. @GinnyJ2012 i think Grace would also make a nice mn for Rosalie. Its currently my #1 mn choice if we have a girl (team green). Lillian Grace is a beautiful name. I also love the name of your DS Jackson. Its one of our top choices for a boy. @mamabird24 Primrose makes me think of Hunger Games and I've never even seen the movies or read the books. Not necessarily negative but definitely sounds trendy. How about Paige, Penelope, Piper, Peyton? @MillerMama13 I see what you mean. I don't think you are being silly or picky. You certainly have a right to your opinion when choosing a name. I have kinda the same quirks with my name choices. Our last name starts with A so I am hesitant to pick a name that ends in A and I also don't want one that starts with A. So you can't pick one that ends in -en or -in or -er that still leaves lots of names that end in -a, -o, -ey, even -ie or -ee @arteduc8 I like Kallie but have you considered Callie short for Calista or Calliope? I also think Sylvie is cute. I have an aunt named Sylvia so i wouldn't be able to use it even though she has gone by a completely different nickname her entire life. lol. It's also probably too close to my DD's name, Sydney.
We are team green and it's so hard for DH and I to pick names that we both love. He has vetoed a lot of my suggestions and hasn't really come up with much of his own other than a name he saw on a name tag of an employee at the grocery store. lol. We both love DS's and DD's names but are only so so about all the names we have in mind for this LO. So far we have Jackson or Jason for a boy and Joselyn (or some variation on the spelling, maybe Joslyn or Josslyn) or Samantha for a girl. I love Grace for a middle name and DH is not sold on it because he wants a family name or to reuse DD's middle name. Her mn is after his mother who passed away when he was a baby. He also wants to reuse DS's middle name, which is DH's first name. I don't like the idea of reusing middle names. Once is enough. He thinks if we have a boy, he will be jealous that DS1 got to use his dad's name as a mn and he didn't. DS is Julian Roderick and DD is Sydney Joy. Incidentally they both happen to be unisex names though we didn't intend that when we picked them. I briefly toyed with the idea of choosing another unisex name but couldn't find one that we both agreed on that isn't too trendy. I know Jackson has become quite popular but DH loves that name and we had planned on using it had DD been a boy. DH wanted to spell it with an X but I vetoed that. Also, since our last name starts with A do you think a first name ending in A would have a weird flow? Sorry this post ended up kind of long. Any thoughts? Open to suggestions.
I love reading all of these! If we were having a second boy I wanted to use DH's middle name Everett- I have actually never met anyone named that before.
We are having a girl and I had always loved the name Emma, but I teach dance and am turned off of it now because of how many Emma's there are We are both pretty set on Evie Sue now, DH wants to actually name her Evelyn but I'm not sold. I know lots of people are against nicknames as first names, but I'm having a hard time committing to Evelyn when I really just love the name Evie.
@Trinirican3ondway I really like Jocelyn! Thank you for vetoing the x for Jackson. It makes me crazy (sorry to those who have spelled it that way). I wouldn't use middle names again personally. My oldest brother was named after a special relative to my mom who passed and it has never crossed my mind to be jealous that I wasn't. As for the A I think it would depend on the sound of the A in each name. Sometimes it doesn't bother me and sometimes it does.
@Mmschuler I feel as long as it's spelled Carey then it is not too feminine. I immediately think of Carey Grant.
@RMR7779 I don't like to share my kids names on tb so without being specific our daughter has a "nick name" for a first name. To be honest if I had to do it all over again I would have given her a longer name and just called her what we use now. I adore her name and it fits her perfectly but feel like as an adult professionall she may wish she had a more "grown up" or longer name. That being said H would have never allowed it because he hates nicknames.
My SO has a very distinctive Scandinavian last name so we went fullforce on that. Our first son is Kaj Björn and our second will be named Egil. Choosing these names has been great because no one has the balls to question foreign sounding names. Not to our faces at least.
Lurking from July. I'm Icelandic and my husband and I are deciding on names that are Icelandic but work in English as well, and Kaj is in my top 3 boy names I love it!
So we have not shared our name with anyone cause i am so not interested in any ones interjections, though you guys are pretty safe and this thread has gone amazingly well!
We ended up deciding to name DD Lidia - Lydia with with an i - as it was my great-aunts name and i always felt she was somewhat of a kindred spirit to me despite that i think i only met her once. Not too thrilled that Lydia has been climbing the charts but am happy to see that its still super super low regionally over here. Doesnt hurt that we love the Beetlejuice association but definitely not the core reason for her name.
I am of the opinion that middle names can be pretty much anything you want and its a great place to use something a little more fun or unusual as long as the first name is pretty strong. DDs middle name is looking like it will be Indigo, with a second possibility of Edelweiss.
Im really happy that this LO is a girl because DH and i would be at each others throats if it was a boy. He is a third and wants his son to be a fourth. I dont mind his name, Rudolph William, but as i said above i really love nationality oriented named and the americanized spelling absolutely drives me nuts. I would have even compromised to Rudolf Wilhelm but he refuses to go there because he wants it exact. I dont like that my husband and son would have the same name, as i think its midly confusing and annoying. We would end up coming up with a number 4 related nickname, none of which i like at all. If I end up with a boy next though im sure DH is going to win that argument, but if end up with two boys somehow in my distant future, DS2 will probably be Niklaus Wolfe.
@Mmschuler I only know one Carrie I think that's how she spells it so to me I think it has a feminine association but it can be unisex and Carey is definitely more of a masculine spelling. Makes me think of Jim or Drew Carey. I'm not sure how they spell it. Both of my kids have unisex names so it doesn't bother me. What about Corey?
@parsonsperson - Yes, that's the song! Even before I knew it was a girl I would turn it on in the car and tell hubby it was LO's jam.
@trinirican3ondway- We thought about Elaine Brandy but we didn't think it flowed as well as Brandy Elaine. My brother has always gone by his middle name so it didn't seem strange to me to do it that way but, I know each year when she gets a new teacher, she will have to explain that she does not go by her first name.
My husband and son have joined forces against me they both love the name Harper. It's not that I hate the sound of it, but I just can't get over the trendy factor, or the association with Bryce Harper (professional baseball player).
I think we have settled on a name for our baby boy but it would be nice to see what other people think. My husbands middle name is Lawrence and so what his grandfather, so we thought about that being Caden's middle name.
Caden Lawrence OR Caden Alexander
I really like Alexander but I understand if my husband wants to pass down a family name.

I have a soft spot for the name Lawrence, so I like that one
I'm pretty new here, and have been lurking while waiting for the Bump to actually let me post! I have enjoyed reading all the name suggestions. Our DD is Layla Georgia. Layla because of the song, and Georgia because we called my grandmother Mama Georgie, but her given name was Georgia.
This baby will be Liesl Gray, because my DH and I love the Sound of Music!
Had this baby been a boy, he would have been Aidan Patrick. Patrick was my dad's name, and he passed before I had was married and had kids.
Other names I love are Everly, Declan, Gage, Scarlett, Gunnar, Xander, Finn, and Maya. I like names that are not widely popular, but aren't like, celebrity baby out there names!
Edited to add Lainey. I love that name but always seem to forget about it!
rakel88 I am so happy you lurked! Defo go with a name you are comfortable and familiar with- regardless of the average American's ability to wrap their head around it. The first time we went to the pediatrician the nurse came out and called for "Cage" which was the last way I ever expected Kaj to be pronounced! It's funny. I absolutely call him Kaj Björn instead of just Kaj- but that's because I've loved the name Björn since I was a little girl.
TheHauntedHauswife I think it's important to keep the family culture & nationality going even after a few generations of being in the USA. Who knows, we may want to move to Sweden or Norway in the future.
I was so fortunate that my SO came up with our boy names out of the blue and I liked them enough to agree. I was relieved because I don't want to be a bully and then spend the rest of my life wondering if he even likes his sons' names.
I didn't have to do a lot of work coming up with names, plus we found out we were having boys very early in each pregnancy. When we were pregnant last time, we were watching The Bridge (the Swedish/Danish version) so the only girl's name we could think of was Saga. I'm still totally in love with that name.
@laurenm2123 I think that's sweet that you are planning to honor both of your parents with your child's name. I hope you don't have any jealousy from the in-laws. Savannah is a name I love for a girl but DH vetoed it because they have a large park in Trinidad where he is from called the Savannah and he cant get over the association and his family would probably think it was weird. Also DS associates it with the African savannah. He LOVES animals.

I think Liesl Gray is beautiful! LOVE the Sound of Music!!!
@Trinirican3ondway I love all those names, but for one reason or another they've all been crossed off the list by either me or my H. I know people will think of Hunger Games (at least some people) but I always make sure to check the top 100 baby names and neither of my other two DDs names are on there (both middle names are, but I'm ok with that) and Primrose isn't on there so it at least meets that qualification lol In fact, it's not in the top 1000 names for any year since 2000 according to one website I found haha! I'm getting so much mixed feedback about it, but I'm still not sure yet.
Fletch or Fletcher is very cute but it reminds me of the 1985 Chevy Chase Movie, "Fletch". I'm a little older and know if because of my 40 yr old DH. It was a popular movie among the now 40+ set. Anyway, lots of older folks might think about the movie and Chevy Chases character by that name, but maybe not the younger mamas.

Thanks! My family and friends either love it, or side eye it and ask me how the crap to pronounce it. I'm surprised so many people don't know where it's from or how to say it. I though TSOM was a pretty standard movie that most everyone has seen at least once. I guess I was wrong!
@Trinirican3ondway Tycho is pronounced like TY-ko. I think it's getting more common, but it always just makes me think of Danish astronomer Tycho Brahe as I haven't really heard of any other Tychos (other than a kid in my toddler's swim class).
@Goocran17 I am way on board with Liesl. Super cute.
To the ladies whose husbands love Harper (this seems to be a popular husband pick, haha), is it the Harper Lee connection? Maybe they'd like Nelle, Harper Lee's real first name which I think is totally awesome and underloved right now.
@Boonhilde I am now considering Harrison and may mention it to DH, but I almost feel I have to pick a short name. That said... Our number one pick is Henry and using DH's middle name. He will then have the initials my FIL has, FIL's name is Harry. But when I mentioned our list of names to friends, they both said Henry is a name they want. Makes me nervous they might get mad, and nervous of it's growing popularity. Other names we have discussed are Ethan, Luke, and William. William is after DH's late grandfather, I am not a fan, nor am I a fan of shorter versions. I feel bad so I tell DH I will think about it, but I would prefer not.

Hehe this is what I thought of too. But doubtful the LO's peers will be familiar with an 1985 movie.
@arteduc8 I like Kallie but have you considered Callie short for Calista or Calliope? I also think Sylvie is cute. I have an aunt named Sylvia so i wouldn't be able to use it even though she has gone by a completely different nickname her entire life. lol. It's also probably too close to my DD's name, Sydney.
Thanks for the input! We did think about Callie with a C, but can't make it based off of Calista as that is one of my good friend's names. Have been trying to think of other names it can be short for, and that's what got me thinking about Kallette, as a slight variation to Collette. I like Kallie or Callie on its own, but I don't know that it would grow up well or be a good professional name down the road. Its the one name that DH and I keep coming back to though. We feel the same way about Sylvie, but it might just be a good nick name but then we aren't sold on Sylvia. Ah, its such a challenge to pick a name!
@CourtJack I love Fletcher!! Unfortunately it wasn't in play for us since DH wouldn't consider another 'F' name (and I know someone with that last name...I didn't want anyone to think it had anything to do with her), but I really think it's an awesome name for a boy.

We are pretty set on Cameron John for our son. We will not be telling my husbands family, as his sister is a total name stealer and due a few weeks after me. Personally I hope she has a girl so we don't have to worry about it if the name slips out at some point, she already has 2 boys and a girl so it's not quite as mean as it sounds lol.
ETA: she has stolen names before.
That biiiitch! I hate name stealers!
Can you please tell her a fake name???
We told a fake name the first time around--as a joke, but also because my BIL and SIL wouldn't tell us their name (they were due a few months before us). We told them something we thought was a little ridiculous but still believable: Feargus Mario London <Last name that we all share>. Turns out they loved that made up name better than the name we actually were going to use (Foster). They tried to talk us into changing it!

This baby will be Liesl Gray, because my DH and I love the Sound of Music!
@Goocran17 That is really something. We had the name Liesl picked our for a girl for our first, and talked about the middle name Gray after my great-grandmother Lula Gray. But we found out it was a boy before we ever finalized our girl name (or agreed on the spelling; DH wanted to add an 'e' to make it Liesel, but I didn't!).
So clearly, I really LOVE this name.

ETA: William is my dad, Jane is my mom and Clayton is my moms maiden name (was my middle name until I got married)
Baby #2 Due 3/7/20
@trinirican3ondway- We thought about Elaine Brandy but we didn't think it flowed as well as Brandy Elaine. My brother has always gone by his middle name so it didn't seem strange to me to do it that way but, I know each year when she gets a new teacher, she will have to explain that she does not go by her first name.
Caden Lawrence
OR
Caden Alexander
I really like Alexander but I understand if my husband wants to pass down a family name.

Thanks! My family and friends either love it, or side eye it and ask me how the crap to pronounce it. I'm surprised so many people don't know where it's from or how to say it. I though TSOM was a pretty standard movie that most everyone has seen at least once. I guess I was wrong!
