Am I crazy?

So... My husband and I started watching Vikings before I got pregnant and I said "hey! We should name our next dog Odin! Wouldn't that be awesome!" Fast forward to now. It's his top name for our boy. I kept hoping it was a joke until tonight when he said he's been doing a lot of research on it and he loves it. I told him we might as well name him Zeus or Abe Lincoln. Am I crazy? He seems totally crushed that I said there is no way I would ever name a child Odin. I'm not opposed to unique names, I just feel like this is too far out there. Would you ever consider using it?

Our friend's son is named Odin. He's adorable and it suits him perfectly.

My cousin has a little boy named Odin. People are using Odin quite often now.

IMO it's too big of a name. Middle name spot would be ok.

It's not the worst. 

But naming is a compromise, so if you hate it, your husband needs to buck up and accept that as you both get veto power.

I know someone who named their child Loki... Odin isn't as bad as Loki, so there's that. I'd still side eye it though.

I don't see anything wrong with it, but it is definitely not my style. I totally understand having your husband suggest (and continue to insist) on a name that you're not sure about. In our case, the future girls name that my DH LOVES is one that is actually growing on me due to the fact that he rarely has strong opinions about names. In your situation, your DH seems to really really love Odin which I find kind of sweet. 

At the end of the day, go with what you love!!
