  • I'm not dealing with it yet with our new little one but have been battling it for years with my daughter. We used to get the hydrocortisone from her Dr and mix it with Aquaphor. It does work great but it has steroids in it and I really didn't love that. We tried many different creams and lotions. With some moderate success. Right now though we are just using coconut oil and that has actually been working pretty great as long as we stay on it.

  • I second the coconut oil suggestion! For me personally, hydrocortisone has never worked, A&D, Bag Balm, and coconut oil have worked wonders though! A good tip is to put what your using on right after bath time, it'll be absorbed more effectively that way.
  • I agree with the coconut oil too, exactly what I was going to say. My whole family fights with eczema my sister and cousin both since infants head to toe. I would also watch using the hydrocortisone for the face like PP said possibly mix it with some lotion when applying, hydrocortisone does thin the skin so you don't want to apply it too often just a few times a day. A lotion with some lavender oil in it would be good too, lavender helps balance they skin and since eczema is caused by a rapid desquamation it'll help slow and calm that down. (I work for a skin care company which deals with natural ingredients)
  • Aveeno does make a lotion, but when I have used it on patients we didn't see a lot of skin improvement. However, I am all about coconut oil! I use it as a diabetic and I have eczema. It helps to clear mine up!

My son has battled eczema from day one. We use Aveeno Baby Eczema Therapy and that seems to help a lot for everyday use. For when he gets a really bad flare up, his pediatrician prescribed Derma-Smoothe. It's an oil that we put on him right after a bath. Since his skin is slightly damp from the bath, it keeps the moisture in his skin. That oil has worked WONDERS.

  • DS1 had it. We switched to all free and clear laundry detergent and to aveeno eczema soap and lotion. We also used bag balm or aquaphor after baths. Once his eczema cleared up/he outgrew it we were able to go back to regular Johnsons soap, but we have stuck with the all free and clear laundry detergent.
  • can u plz tell me the name of laundry detergent  currently  I am using dreft  for babies
  • Whatever topical remedies you use, test it on a small area first! I have eczema and tried coconut oil, and it made things worse. Aquaphor works wonders for my baby! And it's safe if baby accidentally gets some in his/her mouth (my baby licks...) We also use ALL brand detergent for sensitive skin,
