Hi everyone! Pregnancy has been on mine and my husbands minds a lot lately. We're 26 & 27, and we always imagined having kids by now. We're finally ready for that next step in our lives! So we both agreed this is the year we want to get pregnant. Ideally, we'd like to wait to try to get pregnant around July or August. But in the mean time, what should I be doing to be getting my body prepared for pregnancy? I have some weight i'd like to lose and i'm already working on that. When should I take prenatals? Should I see my OBGYN? I appreciate all feedback!
A lot of people will recommend reading "Taking Charge of Your Fertility" as a good starter to understanding your body and preparing to TTC.
You can start taking prenatal vitamins whenever, just make sure you take them when you actually start TTC or NTNP.
You don't really need to see your OBGYN unless you have major concerns about fertility, try unsuccessfully for over a year or if you already have an annual exam scheduled. A lot of info can be found on these boards and online.
Be sure to stick around and participate in discussions on this board. Best of luck!
Yep, what @bmo88 said! I'm working on getting a good exercise routine down now, since most OBs will only allow you to continue exercise you were already doing once you get KU. I'm also trying to cut down to 1-2 cups of coffee a day now so I don't have to do that while PG and exhausted. I figure it's healthy for me anyway.

This.
And OP please keep in mind it can take a healthy couple up to a year to get pregnant. I know you have an ideal time frame you'd like to get pregnant but don't be surprised if it takes a lot longer, or happens super quick. It's harder than you might think
I suggest going to a local vitamin shoppe and picking up a good prenatal (I use the Rainbow Light brand), a probiotic womens/vaginal care supplement (I use the Garden of Life brand), vitamin c & d, echinacea & garlic (exspecially if your sickly) and liquid chlorophyll [mint flavor- tastes better] (if your anemic or have iron issues. Drink tons of water, eat plenty of leafy green veggies & fruits and do a great deal of stretching & walking. I haven't been sick in a LONGGGG time or had to take any prescribed or over-the-counter medications. I also did
not have any morning sickness (FRESH ginger) kicks that in the butt. Best to you!!
