Baby Names

HELP!! baby boy names with 10 weeks to go!

So my SO and I are struggling with boy names. Had it been a girl, we would have been set!

Here are a few ideas but we are open to any names!
The middle name will be Dane. (It's my SO's middle name that he's passing on) and last name is Price so we are not looking to name him any single syllable first names as that would be three one syllable names and it isn't catchy at all.

Here's our list currently:
Camden Dane (I adore the nickname cam, but don't love the name cameron)

Oliver Dane (my mom HATES this name, and it's kind of important to me although I know she'd learn to love it)

Elijah Dane

Maddox Dane (used to be a frontrunner for him, never was extra crazy about it)

Xavier Dane (I like, he doesnt)

Thoughts? Ideas? We need all the help we can get!!

  • Love Oliver and Elijah. I'm just meh on Xavier and Camden. And a strong no to Maddox, it just seems like the parents are trying too hard to name their kid something cool.

  • Elijah feels very biblical to me and neither of us are very spiritual people, but I do love the nickname Eli.

That's where we are at, too. I have 7 brothers so it's hard to find a name that isn't close to any of them that isn't too out there. I just can't see a 40 year old man named Maddox. *shudders&

    Why not just Eli then?

    Elias Dane
  • I love Elijah and Camden. My brother's nickname is Cam (name is Camren) and almost everyone calls him Cam so I love that name. Elijah does have a biblical background but so do a lot of other names. My boss's son is named Elijah and they aren't religious at all. He's adorable by the way ha

I agree with PP that Cam is more commonly from Cameron, so thats an option! Though ive also heard Campbell.

I like Elijah the best, Oliver is nice but isnanely popular. However Elijah is getting there too, so if popularity matters to you, Elijah or Oliver would likely have class mates with the same name.

Also if you like Cam, Do you like Cas? Casspian, Cassian, Casper, Cassius, Cash. Also Cassiel if you are into archangels, or Castiel if youre a supernatural fan.
  • Camden :)

  • I think Cameron is much stronger of a choice for the nn Cam than Camden.  Camden NJ is a horrible association and I don't get the new love for it as a name.

I really like Cameron nn Cam.

I like Oliver and Elijah equally.  I'm not religious and don't find Elijah to scream biblical since it's pretty mainstream.

I admit that Maddox is a total GP name but it's more suited for a pet than a human.  Like mentioned an adult Maddox isn't great.

Xavier is nice but if H doesn't like it, off the list it should go.

    Suggesting:

    Trent
    Elliot
    Elias
    Edmund
    Odin
    Isaiah
    Malcolm
    Marcus
    Marshall
    Roman
    Miles
Owen (it's popular but if you don't want to pull the trigger on Oliver it's a nice similar name)
    Cole
    Graham
    Connor

  • I went to school in Philly, so I kinda cringe whenever I see someone wants to use Camden as a name.

I like Elijah, and the suggestion of Elias. Eli is also good as a stand alone name.
  • Camden is a ghetto please no

    Xavier is my favorite

  • I also think Elijah or Oliver would be great.

  • I like Cameron over Camden
  • I don't mind the name Camden, although I prefer Cameron. However, Camden Dane doesn't flow well IMO (too much D).

I like Elijah, also PPs suggestion of Elias. I personally wouldn't pick a name my mom hated, but if you LOVE it and it's THE ONE maybe chat with her about it?

  • I really like Oliver and Elijah. They both sound great with Dane. Maddox and Xavier are nms, but they work fine with Dane too.

Unless Camden has a really positive association for you, I wouldn't use it... and probably not even then. It's not a great city to be named after.
    It's a boy! Born 42 weeks, 2 days.

  • Not Maddox, way too trendy sounding. It will date your child when they are older.
