I guess I should go easier on myself since it was literally the 2nd time I've even attempted to use the machine. My husband and I screamed at the machine and YouTube tutorials on how to even thread it for twenty minutes before I started. The whole time I just yelled, "How do I turn?? I'm not even sewing the fabric anymore!"
I'm hesitant to try to make woodland themed animals again. I tried to sew an owl once, and it ended up looking like it should be a creature on Southpark
I made my own bedskirt and teething rails. I wanted a woodland theme, but wanted something more "whimsical" what I was finding. I found this fabric and dh and I fell in love with it. I'm love how great it turned out and can't wait to paint the room now.
@elenabrent I know it's not finished yet, but I LOVE that embroidered onesie. I hope you end up with a sweet little collection of them made by your students.
I finally finished my baby kimono, and I wanted to share it because I picked up a trick that could be useful for a LOT of different baby projects: making button loops with just a needle and embroidery floss. It wasn't hard, and they feel nice and sturdy. I used the instructions here: https://ysolda.com/support/tutorials/sewn-button-loops/
@PleaseSendPicklesNow thanks!!! They suggested we do one with moons and stars and one with whales. The hearts was an obvious first choice, haha. I love the kimono! It looks great!!
Dusted off the sewing machine again...only my third time ever using it. I have to use this fabric I went out and spent money on. Ugh. I made a bandana bib, which didn't turn out awful. Straight lines are my friend.
Then I tried a regular shaped bib... Curves are NOT my friend. Ridiculous.
My crafting has slowed down. I need to get my sewing machine out. It still seems so far away and not real yet. I'm telling people at work next week (I'll be 17 weeks), so maybe it'll feel more real when people know about it.
@noelietrex talk to me about what your'e doing for PP. Are these in place of pads? I haven't used a pad in years (menstrual cup ftw), so I'm completely overwhelmed by how to deal with weeks of bleeding in an environmentally responsible way.
I can't stop sewing things!!! I watched a couple YouTube videos and found patterns on Pinterest. Everything has been pretty basic so far. Turning a round corner is much tougher than turning a hard angle. I know I'm a rookie sewer because I often forget to put the preset foot down.
@Racso12 right?! Do you find yourself thinking about fabrics at inappropriate times? Sewing can never be "out of control" can it? Nooooo! Also I LOVE your wild color scheme- what did you stuff that block with? Foam?
@elenabrent I have a diva cup but I prefer pads so I just modified my regular cloth pattern to be huge! If you're laundering cloth diapers cloth pads should be nothing to toss in with them. Fleece bottom, hidden layer of PUL to waterproof, terrycloth absorbent layers X3, *flannel tops. I'm making 20 to do laundry every other day. I was told 8-10 over night pads for 2-3 weeks. Honestly I just loathe the idea of adult diapers. Having big cutesy fabrics in my panties is better for morale!
*edit whoops mean flannel tops! Or cotton would work
@noelietrex I just used fill for the block. Squishy and soft. I will probably make some with foam as I get better and can count on the size to be accurate. And yes, im obsessed with fabric!! This has become such an addiction. When I was at Joanne's the other day a lady said to me, "looks like somebody is going to be doing some sewing!" I just thought to myself lady you have no idea! Haha
Finally bought some fabric yesterday for some burp cloths!! Super excited. I'm hand-sewing everything because I can't afford a machine and also can't remember how to use one, plus for some weird reason it's super relaxing for me.. I plan on going back for some felts for my mobile after I get some patterns sketched out, and fabric for a couple changing pads. I also picked up an adorable latch hook of a whale.. we are doing an under the sea themed nursery!
So the 'love tits' thing, is that something that started as a typo and then everyone began to do it on purpose or is it an ongoing typo thing? Every time I see it now, I think love tits in my head regardless of what's written. (But it's usually love tits)

I assume the it's love ( . )( . ) tits. Like this post fills my tits with love! Could totally be making that up though...
I love watching this thread even though I have no craft abilities (or really, any desire to be crafty). You guys are making some pretty amazing things. Great job! My kid will have plain Gerber cloth diapers for burp cloths. LOL!
@noelietrex Thanks for the idea of the matching bibs and the tutorial! Finally got around to trying one. (Realized at the end I didn't have any snaps, whoops.) They'll be fully complete tomorrow but I'm too excited not to post them today.

Going to start baby things next week. I have a date with the fabric store. Can't wait!
My life is only about crafting now. Today: wet bag, first all-in-one cloth diaper, kimono NB shirt, some PP mama cloth...
