Hello everyone! Sunday night I had a bad seizure with myloclonic jerking which is believed to be what started my contractions as all other risk factors weren't there, both baby and I were completely healthy. However, I went into preterm labor, only 24 weeks. Cervix not open yet but thinning to 1cm. Was in hospital for treatment to stop labor and prepare baby just in cas for 48hours then released and following bedrest these last two days I see my OBGYN tomorrow. Please say a prayer! This is our first pregnancy and a miracle after over 13 years infertile and down half my reproductive organs we were surprise to hear of this little boy! We love him so much! Thank you all!

In my research on preterm labor, 50% of patients get their labor stopped and end up making it to term. That's great news! Did you get steroids at the hospital? Are you still contracting? Is your doctor ordering weekly progesterone injections or suppositories? Are you delivering at a hospital that has a level 3 or 4 nicu? Every day that you stay pregnant increases your little one's chance of survival!

If you need something to look up online while you are on bedrest, find out if you can get a breastpump through your health insurance. At this point, while we pray that you go full term, a preterm birth is a possibility. In that event, producing breastmilk could be lifesaving for your preemie. Or, find out if the nicu at the hospital you are delivering at utilizes donor milk. (of course I'm not even sure that your seizure meds are suitable for breastfeeding).
I pumped for my 26weeker twins. I rented a hospital-grade medela symphony pump, which I highly recommend if you have access to that. I also had a pump in style for back-up and pumping other places. I've also heard great things about the Spectra line of pumps.
God Bless; We are praying for you. Preterm Labor is scary!
