TW Tuesday

Re: TW Tuesday

  • My work friend is mad at me I don't know why. She is being a total B*tch and instead of telling me straight up when asked what I've done, she acts like one of our students and says nothing.

Last straw was at a meeting this morning, we were talking about a student and I said I personally had no issues with him misbehaving, and as she walked out of the room in front of everyone she said "because you are the greatest..."

    WTF.

I'm too sick and tired for this crap.

  • @Charla1224 thank you for the vampire story, that was fantastic
@vinerie shouldn't the student already be registered for those classes??? I wouldn't rush to respond

I have so many work twatwaffles!!!
    1. The consultant that keeps calling/emailing me and several other people eessentially asking me to do her job for her
    2. The facility lawyers who are nit picking the permit I already issued to them (they had multiple opportunities to submit comments) and have the audacity to send me a document with several severe typos while they criticize the typos in the permit.
    3. Whoever left their toenail clippings in this cubicle I just moved into... So gross!!!
  • @EErin86 toenail clippings?!?!?! For real?!?!?! Freaking yuck.
  • I'm the TW today. We have a "snow day" today meaning our clients don't have to go to treatment today because the roads are bad and we don't want our transporters sliding off or getting in accidents, which means my ass isn't leaving the house either. So i get the text this morning and I'm like "Yay snowday! I get to sleep more." So I go back to sleep then wake back up to a text from my husband asking me to bring my car in so he can put the new tires on. I respond that I wanted to wait til this afternoon before my appointments I have and he responds "Like now?" So I'm all grumpy and a super TW because I didn't want to leave the house (meaning put on real pants until after I've had coffee - or period) to deal with my car. So once I get to his shop he asks if I want to drive his truck home or wait 45 minutes, and really I still just want to be on my couch still so I respond all grumpy about wanting to wait until my appointments this afternoon and not wanting to drive his truck in this crap because it slides and I hate driving it. So long rambly story short, I'm being a major TW to my husband, who I should be super grateful for because he wants me to have new tires for the crap weather to stay safe, and I'm just being whiney. I'm annoying myself.
  • @AuntieCre5@lalala2004 I hear you on the doctors' bills! I have a good insurance plan, and I'm still paying so much out of pocket. We decided to do genetic testing with the Harmony test a few months ago. I was low-risk, so it was elective and not covered by our insurance. I was able to get a "deal" through my doctor's office and have it done at the discounted rate of about $350. I was glad I did it because I found out that I am a carrier for a rare disorder that could be terminal to LO if DH was also a carrier. We then opted to have testing done for DH, which cost less because there was a medical reason to do it and it was no longer considered "elective."  It still cost us about $150 above what insurance covered for his testing, though. As it turns out, DH is not a carrier, so everything is fine and it was nice to have that peace of mind, but now we are out another $500. That's on top of the $350/month we are paying to the doctors office for the delivery and the co-pays and US fees until we meet our deductible.

I'm a FTM, so is it standard practice to be charged a "global payment" for the delivery, above and beyond what they collect from insurance?  We're going to end up paying about $2,000 above what the office is already collecting from our insurance company just for the delivery, and that doesn't cover the hospital co-pays, etc.  Is this standard?

  • @EErin86 when I first started at my current job, I shared a desk with a woman for a couple months, and I found a sweet stash of her finger nail clippings in her desk drawer! Yeesh! I feel your pain!
  • @Charla1224 those are the worst! I hate making the "your kid was bit" calls, but I can't imagine three in one morning.
I actually think about you from time to time because our school nurse takes too much comfort in her role at our school. She rarely makes the awkward calls home or deals with "messy" situations. She's 5 years or less away from retirement and is total cruise control mode.
Ugh. It's school nurses like that who give us all a bad name. While no one really likes making the tough calls, I feel like I am part of a team so if it veers into "medical" territory (like a bite mark, or incontinence, or even doing "bathroom" talk or showing private parts in class) I always try to consult with our counselor/SW and school psychologist and usually end up making the calls home. It is a lot more than band aids and ice packs, but some more experienced and checked out school nurses don't do much to further our reputation.

  • @Jparke2 @jessiedee13 apparently these are really old toe/fingernails (I moved a file cabinet and they were under). Another coworker was in this cube before and found a prescription bottle full of paperclips. He dumped them out to put them in a different container only to find that the bottom of the container was filled with nail clippings!!!!!! Why are people so weird???
  • My TW today is my boss. She was out sick yesterday but is back in the office today. She starts the day with this email:

    Hi all,

Although it doesn’t sound like it, I’m actually feeling 75% better than yesterday and 90% better than Sunday.

However, please stay away from me!  I’m not locking myself in my room to be rude, I just want to stay far away from people just in case I’m still contagious.  I’ll sign things and just put them back out on the little hanging thing on my door.

I haven’t had a fever for well over 24 hours though, so I shouldn’t be, but you never can be sure.

I was sick over the holidays and am still getting over the cough and congestion from 3 weeks ago and she comes to work like this. Mind you, we can all very easily work from home so if she was itching to get back to work please just log in from home. :/

  • My TW is these stupid hot flashes... especially at night. It's about 20 degrees outside at night and I need the window open, fan on, and a sheet and I'm still sweating.

Also... these pregnancy hormones. I cried like a baby on Saturday morning while watching the live action 101 Dalmatians when the puppies were stolen. My husband looked at me like I had two heads.

Husband: "Babe... the puppies will come back."
Me sobbing uncontrollably: "I know but it's so sad. The puppies are scared and everyone is searching for them."

@sosweet487 Yes the hot flashes! I do the same thing as you at night and I swear I still wake up soaked in the middle of the night. It is awful! I have been throwing some damp towels in the freezer and when I wake up or am having a particularly bad hot flash, I will throw one of those behind my neck. It is heaven!

That makes me nauseous. Who does that?
  • Pretty much everyone at work today....The C.N.A (If I don't get a pee break you sure the hell don't get a smoke break)
  • My TW is the high cost of medical testing. I had one of the DNA blood tests due to paranoid doctors freaking me out at our AS. Pretty high price to pay for peace of mind. Got the bill. The insurance covered most of it, but I still owe $750. I'm already paying my doctors office $560 a month, and this is just one more thing. I'm calling the lab today to see if we can at least put it on a payment plan or something....
Wow! @lalala2004 Do you think the $750 is due to a New Year/having to meet your deductible for 2016?

I know when non-US folks see us talk about insurance, they are shocked. But for the record, I've paid maybe a total of $150 in bills in the last 4.5 months, and most of that was for lab work and not the actual doctor's visit. That's crazy you're paying that much per month!

I havea Health Savings Plan, so the first $3000 in bills is out of my pocket.

Oh my - This reminds me of a reoccurring dream I have. It's the beginning of the semester, and I get my schedule, but I lose it. I then have no idea which classes I need to go to at what time or what day of the week, and I'm in constant panic I am missing classes and will fail. The furthest the dream has gone is me realizing that it's high school, and I already have a Masters degree, so I don't actually need to be there. It's such a stressful dream though. Please help this girl! I feel her pain.
  • Oh my god those toenail clipping stories. Oh my GOD.

Mine's the super sketchy defense attorney who filed a super sketchy motion with super sketchy "evidence" (lol) and miscaptioned it accidentally-on-purpose to make it look like something other than what it is, and then on top of that served me with an incomplete copy so I would fail to realize what they were actually doing.

It almost worked too, which is the infuriating part. On the one hand I feel like a dummy for not catching it, on the other, it's pretty unheard of to be so unprofessional.

I second this. I had to pay for 1 rhogam shot already and it was $600 after insurance. I'll need at least 1 more, maybe two of those before it's all said and done :/. I thought we had decent insurance, but I'm also still averaging a couple hundred dollars a month between MFM visits, ultrasounds, bloodwork, and other random medical expenses. Ugh.
  • @Aquinna82 For most of my career I worked for the government, and had a reasonable deductible + about $80 out of my paycheck each month for health insurance. When I started my current job in the private sector, that was the first time I was offered a high deductible plan. In that moment, I was so beyond thankful that I could give them the finger and just get on my husband's insurance where I have a $100 deductible and he pays $40/mo out of his check (so $480/year + $100 = In for $580 at least). His health care is free since he's active duty. I'm a financial analyst, and I could not wrap my brain around how a $3000 deductible plan was some sort of benefits selling point for my company after always being on low deductible plans. Do you still have co-pays once you hit the deductible?
  • @missnc77 yup...after the 3k I pay 20% on the bills until 6k, then they are covered. Granted, there are 3 plans available and I chose the one that took the least $ out of my check, not expecting to get KU so wuickly. Also I have a health savings acct that I can defer $ into pre tax to pay for medical expenses, & my company puts $750 in there too. So it helps...but it sucks. Unfortunately my husband's insurance is super expensive, and to have a family on it would easily be half of each of his paychecks.
  • Pretty much everyone at work today....The C.N.A (If I don't get a pee break you sure the hell don't get a smoke break)
NO! This used to piss me off SOOOOOOO much when I worked on the floor. How is it freaking possible that smokers get a break every, oh, 15 min, and I can barely sit down to pee?! I know at least 5 other nurses who actually became smokers just to get a break.

Ugh no. You just reminded me of this. I have to get at least 1 shot in a few weeks. The midwife should be letting me know where I'll need to go at the next appointment. I really hope mine isn't going to cost that much. :|

Ok I thought I was a total weirdo, but I've had a similar dream for years - since I graduated college, so almost 12 years.

In my dream I forgot to drop/withdraw a class (which is odd because I never dropped or withdrew from any classes in 4 years as a double major) and I don't realize until there's two weeks left in the semester. I wake up sweating and panicked every time.
  • TW today is Pottery Barn/the delivery service they partner with. I ordered my crib and matress two weeks ago and I received an email from the delivery service on Saturday asking me to call or email to set up my delivery window. I emailed, didn't hear back, called five times over the course of the day yesterday and every time I got a busy signal. Emailed again, no response. Called three more times today, busy signal. Finally emailed PB customer service directly and told them what was going on and what did they say? Call the below number to set up your delivery window... the SAME NUMBER I HAD BEEN CALLING for the past two days. Trying not to flip my lid but seriously they better be throwing in some free sheets or something to make this right.

Mine is similar. but because I was a total drama geek in high school (and that was honestly when I peaked) I always dream that I am backstage and have no idea what I am doing or what show I am supposed to be in. Suddenly, it is my cue and I get shoved onstage and have to just make it up as I go. The other actors are looking at me like "WTF?" and I just keep going, ad libbing and making a fool of myself. It is actually fairly appropriate because that is how I feel most days. I don't know how to "adult" yet and feel like I am just trying to trick everyone into thinking I have any clue what I am doing.

  • TW of the day is insurance companies. I was kindly reminded by someone else that I have to get a rhogam shot so I decided to check the cost. Depending on the process to get it it will cost me at least $175 out of pocket bc my insurance considers it a specialty medication which is not covered in my policy.

This coming on the day I get my AS bill (I already knew this wasn't covered at 100% since my insurance is sucking lately). $135. Certainly glad DH and I had been saving up in our HSA accounts.

Ever read "The Actor's Nightmare" by Christopher Durang? Cause that's you :)
  • Update: the TW is no longer myself but this weather. Our power is now out and the temp outside is 12°, so our inside temp is falling fairly quickly. The roads are pretty crappy, but I'm debating braving them to go to Target & Babies R Us to update registry because I'm so bored.
  • @babyfmama I actually just got off the phone with pottery barn kids about a return I sent before Christmas. I waited on hold for about 15 minutes before someone told me they're slammed with Christmas returns, so maybe that explains it? I want my money back now though!
  • @Bltbear82 that's such a pain though and they should probably expect a certain level of volume and staff accordingly! No forgiveness from me for PBK today >:)
  • Also, the man at the baby store. He told us that britax infant car seats are terrible and we should return ours and buy a chicco (I have nothing against this brand, just already choose britax). He also said Bob strollers weren't actually suitable for jogging and baby jogger was the only jogging stroller he would recommend (we already also have a Bob stroller, but I didn't mention that). Whyyyyyyy???
  • Target. I ordered a "6 square organizer" (like the IKEA kallax, they just don't make a 6) on dec 9th. It was back ordered and was supposed to arrive this week. Got an email that it's delayed and isn't expected for another month. It's now not on their website at all. They better actually fulfil my order or they're getting my full pregnant rage.

This is weird because most Baby Jogger strollers are NOT jogging strollers.  Really, the only Baby Jogger stroller that is actually intended for jogging is the Summit.  Bobs are most definitely intended for running.  If you want good information on strollers, there is a FB group -- Stroller Queen Stroller Swap.  These women know their strollers and so many of them love, love, love their Bobs for running.

I have the Mountain Buggy Terrain for running/offroad adventuring and it is great (and great for tall people).

I've always thought Britax was a good mid-class carset, just like Chicco.  It all depends on your vehicle though.  I think you're fine. :)

I wouldn't let his comments get to you.  I feel like if these products were really that bad, we would see that more often.
  • My Twatwaffle are the people who keep telling me "what to expect" and "what I should and shouldn't be" doing since I am pregnant! It's highly frustrating when I am trying to get things done and I'm told I shouldn't be doing that, even though my dr ok'd me to. Or to be told that things in my pregnancy are weird because they did not experience it! Wait, aren't you the one who said everyone will experience different things and that no pregnancy is the same? (This example was my sister and my gender reveal Sunday) I love that people want to give me advice, but please don't act like you're my dr or that my experience should be the same as yours especially when it is a contradiction of what you have previously told me... Rant over :)

When I was pregnant with my 1st I was also getting ready for my wedding and I had to borrow some chairs and tables from a local church for the reception hall. My FIL went with me because I needed his truck...I picked up 2 folding chairs...and he said "no no jess I got this you go sit down and be careful"...it's 2 folding chairs...your grandson will be fine lol people just don't like pregnant women doing anything...no matter how miniscule it is. It's weird.

UGH, I just got my AS bill today, $200! It makes me so mad and its so frustrating! I'm so lucky that my company (family business) will reimburse me after I hit $750 paid towards my $6000 deductible. I hit $750 today, yay!
