Water..

apparently even water gives me horrible acid reflux and heartburn. Ugh! I am so ready for baby to be out! Looks like another sleepless night.

Anyone else out there have some complaints only we would understand? Hearing everyone else complain makes me feel a little more normal!

I ran out of milk today! It was so devastating!! We are both lactose intolerant so we use lactaid and of course the store is sold out until Wednesday! I am way too lazy to drive 4 miles to the other store. But now I really want chocolate milk..

ETA: when I saw the GI Doctor a few days ago they said chocolate will actually make it worse, so be careful how much you have! Not that this is going to stop me from making nesquick tomorrow. .

At least you weren't standing over carpet? Right?
  • Tums assorted fruit flavors is my go to!

I had heartburn and acid reflux so bad today I was burping hot lava! Went to Walmart and opened the tums right then and there I was dying lol
  • I've had a residual cough from a cold over xmas and I pee 95% of the time I cough.... its so annoying! but there cant possibly be anything in my bladder bc I have to pee every 1/2 hr. #preggoproblems.
  • I started taking a Zatac before bed and it has made a world of difference.. I held out on taking anything as long as I could but 2 sleepless nights in a row put me over the edge..

This! I don't like taking medicine unless I have to, but this heartburn was getting out of control. A Zantac before bed was a life saver over the weekend. Skipped it last night since I felt fine, and woke up at 12:30 with a fire in my chest/throat, so I'm thinking taking them nightly even if it seems unnecessary at the time, will be a good idea.

I also started sleeping in a room by myself this weekend and had the best sleep I've had in months! No husband snoring or stealing the sheet, no dogs stepping on me or taking my spot when I get up to go to the bathroom. Highly recommend :P

  • I've been taking Zantac for a couple months now for the same reason.

My complaint is that my pelvis hurts. Constantly. No matter what I do.

  • I get heartburn and reflux from drinking water too and I swear just looking at food gives it to me as well. Everyone keeps saying to expect a hairy baby

I read a while back that they've found a definite correlation between heartburn and hair. If that's true, I'll be giving birth to a toddler sized wookie.
Wookie. Fantastic. I'll have one too!

Ditto on the zantac for months and complaining about the pelvic pain. It's horrendous and I need it to STOOOOOP. :(

Tums help in between the Zantac doses, though, but it's getting worse as the days go by. Back to feeling nauseous almost all the time!

  • @RissKay I got tired of waking up in the middle of the night throwing up acid and was at the upper limit of what you should take in Tums. The OB nurse told me I needed to lay off before I gave myself a kidney stoney.

I guess saying I'll be having an ewok would be more accurate?

  • Ugh. That SUUUUCKS. I completely understand, though. I threw up acid frequently with DS1. This time, I'm *pretty* sure I have a small ulcer (I threw up blood once, and my OB said that it probably was a small one that will heal itself but if I do that again, I'll go see a GI.) So yeah. That had no point, only that I feel your pain and am so sorry!

Now that you say that, an ewok is probably more accurate, considering I apparently grow tiny babies. :p

  • Yep water and ingesting basically anything gives me heartburn. I actually don't eat most nights after 5-5:30. By then I'm full anyways and it means less chance of heartburn when I go to bed. I hate milk so that's my last resort for heartburn help, but chewing gum actually helps me.
  • I am right there with you.  Had a glass of water before bed last night and I was up throwing up all night because the heartburn was so bad.

The saving grace is that, with my last pregnancy, the heartburn went away as soon as I delivered.  Come on out baby girl!

  • I have had bad heartburn and acid reflux so I mentioned it at my last doc app. She recommended I take Pepcid and it has helped sooooo much!
  • My kids are sick and my sleeping well. I feel for them, but DH is away and last night I was up with them from 10:30-1:30, and then up for the day at 5:15 with BOTH of them waking that early. At nine months pregnant, I need more rest. :/

  • @MississippiCatfish I feel you. Only DH and myself have both been sick for over a week. So I'm either waking up to pee, waking up because I can't breathe through my nose, or just uncomfortable. Then DD is up super early and isn't napping well. Luckily my mom offered to take DD for a couple of days so I can get some rest and finish getting ready for baby. I hope your kids get better soon and you don't catch it.

  • Omeprazole/Prilosec. Try it - it saved my life, OB said it is OK to take
  • OP-I had heartburn so bad that water was also causing it to flare. It was so bad that I was actively avoiding eating and drinking. My midwife caught wind of it (ketones in my urine) and asked me what was going on. Once I told her she wrote me a script for protonix & it has been a complete life saver for me. I can now eat/drink/sleep without feeling like I'm constantly sick. You might ask your care provider for something to help.

@baya5 Ugh.  I had a gallbladder attack on Friday and was in bed from 9pm Thursday night until 7am Saturday morning!  Luckily, once it passes I feel normal pretty quickly, becaue I don't know what I'd do if I was sick when the kids were sick too!

Hope you heal up quickly - how awesome that your mom took your daughter for a while!!  Put those feet up and rest rather than trying to do any nesting activities when you start to feel a little better - I know that pull can be strong right now! :)

I will definitely be asking about this at my appointment!! Thanks! The OTC stuff hasn't provided much relief. I get maybe two hours and then it's back.

I honestly don't know how moms do it! (I mean I know I'll be learning soon, but still) my animals are almost too much for me right now. My kitten was crying all night and between throwing up and trying to comfort her it was just ridiculous. I wish we could take a ton of sleeping pills and not have it affect anything. You go mama! I hope they get better soon.
  • I have been waking up every night after midnight from horrible acid reflux/hearburn. I can't do tums anymore because they contribute to constipation which is my other big problem right now (tmi sorry) so I end up eating ice late night but then have to go pee afterwards so its kinda a double edge sword, needless to say nights have been pretty miserable lately

I love ice!!! I'm anemic and have even more cravings for ice now too. DH will literally take ice away from me and punish me like a child when I eat it :disappointed: the best ice are the little balls, like sonic has. Mmmmm!!

Sorry, but you're wrong about that. McDonald's has the best ice for crunching.

Definitely my second favorite. but I can't betray my ice balls.. (That sounds weird..)
  • No heartburn for this mama... Reading everyone's responses makes me feel so fortunate.

I have varicose veins in my left groin. It feels like daggers are piercing it every time I go from sitting to standing of if I stand for longer than eh... 10 minutes? I'd say I hit the jackpot in uncommon pregnancy pains.

And I am slightly anemic. Not enough that it's worth the constipation of iron pills. I eat an unhealthy amount of ice (seriously, like my dentist is going to say something) and I have insane smell cravings for laundry products. Best place for ice... Zaxby's. Which I think is more of a southern place (it was founded in Georgia) but I'm pretty sure Sonic has the same ice? Not sure, I go to sonic maybe once every 4 years.

  • @thisusername if it's Pensacola then probably Zaxby's. I'm obsessed!

Sonic does have the best ice but its 20 minute drive from us so I go to Circle K. They have the same little crunchy ice pieces I can seriously eat the whole large cup of it

The closest sonic to where I used to live in California was 40 minutes, so I feel the pain! Of course there's no sonic here :( the east coast is just lacking! We had one right off of my old base in Florida, I used to walk there for a cup of ice every day. I don't think we have circle K's here either. Man I can not wait to get back west!!
  • I've found the ice winner....Chick-fil-A or 7-11. The ice is little cubes, but they're almost like smaller pieces forced together so they kind of fall apart like Sonic's ice when you crunch them.

I have a free chicken sandwich from chick-Fil-a! Now I have an even better excuse to get a cup of ice. They took 3 minutes (which isn't long at all) to make my food when I was holding my friends baby the last time I was there. So the cashier kept apologizing and gave me a coupon. Seriously so excited to use my own child for these benefits if that's how it's going to be
