LH surge but no CM?

We recently miscarried our first pregnancy at 7w,2d on December 18th. Bleeding/spotting stopped on December 21st. This week I started tracking ovulation again even though I haven't had any CM. Tests have been negative all week, but then all of a sudden get a Peak result this morning. My hcg was 2 yesterday.Should we try or is this likely just a wacky cycle after miscarriage?

If you have a positive OPK, it always makes sense to have sex, as ovulation could happen in 12-48 hours. It could still be a wacky cycle, though, as you can have an LH surge and not ovulate. Since this is your first cycle post miscarriage, your hormones can definitely be in flux, and you may not see your normal CM/LH surge patterns. I'd keep tracking everything to be sure. Are you temping or using cheapie OPKs? If it were me, I'd keep using OPKs until I saw a thermal shift in BBT. I use Wondfos though, which are inexpensive.

ETA: what did your doctor say about TTC again? Mine wanted me to wait one cycle, but I think it was to avoid uncertainty like this if I did get pregnant again right away.

  • I use clearblue digital ovulation tests so I was definitely surprised to see a smiley face this morning. Today is day 20 if we count the first day of my miscarriage as the start of this cycle.
My doctor said no need to wait for my next period and we could start trying when we were ready. I think we'll give it a shot tonight and tomorrow but not get our hopes up (easier said than done)!
