Totally random but my dinner tonight consisted of mint chocolate chip ice cream and buffalo chicken dip. Not a single regret (until the inevitable heartburn starts in a little bit) because it was freaking delicious.

@ahernandez16 we took our daughter to a wedding at 5 weeks old. It was a 6 hour drive and wasn't bad at all. She barely cried until the very end. We stopped every 1.5-2 hours to nurse and change but it was literally the last 10 minutes she got upset so we jsut waited it out. As for the concern of her getting sick it was August so not quite in cold season yet. We also were very selective with who held her, only family that we knew were current on vaccinations specifucally. I wore her in my ring sling at the wedding and was able to cover her up so people couldn't even really see she was in there. It was overall a positive experience. I'll even be an AW and add a pic of her and I at the wedding.
My 3.5 year has finally decided that the toilet isn't his enemy. Been peeing without accidents for 4 days...we come to see the in laws and in less than 12 hours he is back to where we were before this week because they make zero effort. I'm so mad because they make comments about him not being trained but wont even try. They got up with the boys when we are here and totally ignored the fact that he needed to go. Thanks god we are only here for the weekend
Oh man, so I was up this morning at 2am and decided that it was time to climb this mountain of a thread. Took an apple break on page 24 and a marshmallow break somewhere in the 30's but here I am! Wow.
Hi! Good morning! I had wondered where you ladies hung out. To sum it up- I'm shocked at that 16yo/28yo keeping 4 kids in their closet, I also love tacos (DH is Mexican & LO is going to come out in a sombrero if I continue) and LBs sound fun, but I have a real life LB who I know isn't crazo. (I got through enough of that thread..scary!!) Ok - I'm going to go make some cinnamon rolls now.
@ahernandez16 I did a road trip with a 6-week-old where it was a 5 hour drive one day follow by a 9 hour drive the next (those are usual, no-baby times...I'm not sure how long it actually took us!). I'm such a dumbass I thought I could save time on the drive by pumping ahead of time and feeding her bottles in the car. Halfway through the trip I went into a gas station and when I got back to the car realized I'd leaked milk through my nursing pads, bra, shirt, AND jacket and my entire torso was completely, visibly soaked. One of my more spectacular new mom fails. On the way back we stopped every 1 1/2 to 2 hours to breastfeed and snuggle and she did much better Anyway, it can be done, just be smarter about it than I was!
@Emztron500 Oh, that's SO good to know! I was kind of thinking about pumping before heading out too if I'm breast feeding and doing bottles in the car.
We'll probably definitely split the trip into 2 days, longer stretch the first day and a quick drive the second. I brought it up to H last night and he seems to think we can make it in one but he also thought you could burp a baby in a moving car so....
My sweet girl had a fever of 102 last night and it just keeps creeping up. At 103 now. She seems to have labored breathing so we are at urgent care. Her little friend we see all the time missed school Thursday for a high fever. She and her sister both have bacterial lung infections so it's got me worried. She has some breathing issues like I do so I don't want to take any chances.
@fishwife799Oh no! I'm so sorry! I hope they can get whatever it is under control. I, too, have crappy lungs that DS inherited and it's SO hard to watch your LO struggle to breathe
@ahernandez16 we took a long road trip for thanksgiving when my daughter was 4 months old. The way there was horrible--a normally 7 hour drive took 14 hours (it was the day before thanksgiving) but DD just had a rough time. We did stop every few hours to nurse and change...and then in one town we stopped at every exit for at least 30 minutes because DD was inconsolable. But the drive back was much better and only took about 10 hours, which was mostly because of the stopping to nurse and change.
@sweetmamajune I just jumped in the other day without reading everything, but maybe I'll try to go back and read it all now.
@sdnybrk we are just starting to potty train my 3.5 year old this weekend. I totally feel your pain.
@ahernandez16 we flew with my daughter for the first time at 10 weeks. She also flew at 4 months, 6 months, (cruise at 7 months), 8 months, and twice at a year. She's definitely well traveled! I will echo that we waited for 2 months shots (personal decision) and it was definitely MUCH easier the smaller she was. For sure. We took our first long road trip when she was 7 months old (8-9 hours). She did great! But, she's never had an issue with the car. Some babies DO. If she was a crier I don't think I could handle it.
Apologizing in advance for jumping in without catching up. Nap time is only so long and I was 500+ posts behind.
I bought a Boba wrap today using the 10% off Target Cartwheel deal. And I really wanted to try it out. DD is napping so I used one of her stuffed animals to carry. I think I'll like it. When DD wakes up I'm going to try it with her. She's almost three and I've never worn her. She's going to think I'm crazy.
Now im wondering what happens if I'm wearing baby out and about and she has a blow out or major spit up situation... I feel like I should get a 2nd one as a back up.
Thanks everyone. They gave her some antibiotics and I got some ibuprofen in her when we got home. Her fever is still present but it's much lower. Just going to keep an eye on her and lay low all weekend.
My random for today and maybe an UO...I can't stand people who think it is ok for their babies/kids to pull at a dog's tail/face. I get that accidents happen and you might not be able to run interference all the time *right* away but some people seem genuinely ok with the fact that their kids can mistreat a dog but the dog isn't supposed to "correct" the behavior like a dog would correct it in a puppy (to be clear, I don't think a dog should correct behavior in a baby like they do in a puppy but I also wouldn't put my dog in the position of choosing). Even really good, well-trained dogs have bad days. Honestly, I feel like those are the cases that turn into "my dog attacked my baby/toddler out of nowhere!!!" and it makes me sad...for the dog.

Completely agree. Totally irresponsible. Or let their kids bother dogs while eating/drinking. You're asking for it. We put up a gate to block off the laundry room so the dogs can go in there if they need space or if I can't be there to make sure my toddler isn't terrorizing the dogs. I love my dogs and don't think they'd ever ever hurt my toddler, but it's just not a risk I'm willing to take.
My cat is being an asshole..... My MIL is in town for a week and the cat usually hangs out in the guest bedroom. Unfortunate for him, she's in there, so he has decided that he's not ok with it and has been singing the song of his people since about 1am. Then took a giant dump in his litter box and decided not to cover it.
@sdLindenberg It sounds like your cat is suffering from pregnancy hormones too... Welcome him to this board, let him post a "My MIL sucks because..." post and we'll set him straight.
@sdLindenberg ugh. I feel this. We crate our dog when we leave usually and yesterday we were going to a party so he was going to be in there for a fairly long time. So when I took H to work we left him out.
I was gone maybe 25 minutes and I came home to 3 piles of shit. One of which had been stepped in and smashed into the carpet and another that was ON MY BACK PACK.
@ahernandez16 the pumping/bottle feeding in the car scenario COULD work if you brought a manual or battery-powered pump with you and pumped yourself in the car (I think you can also get adapters to plug a normal pump into the car's outlet). But your baby might honestly need the frequent breaks anyway.
Sorry about your kiddo @fishwife799 sick kids are so tough.
@MillerMama13 that DEFINITELY happens. Just make sure baby is wearing blow-out-containing clothes, and if you've got a spit-uppy munchkin, you can tuck a burp cloth or receiving blanket over the edge of the wrap by baby's face to hopefully catch it. Pro tip: cloth diapers contain blowouts way better than disposables, so if in doubt, you can always throw on a cloth diaper cover over top of your disposable diaper to try to keep things contained.
My random for the day: somehow my LO has figgured out the key to kicking me in my asshole from the inside and appears to be giggling his little butt off about it. Last night, I kept feeling this weird, surprising tug on my butt-I couldn't tell if I had to fart or use the restroom, but it was so sudden it made me jump in surprise. Then it happened again and again at random intervals until midnight. It's like someone stepping on your seatbelt from behind you, but the seatbelt is attached to your sphincter. Awesome...
@sdLindenberg@ahernandez16 A few weeks ago my hubby was being a giant jackass about consistently cleaning the litter box, so one of the cats jumped on his desk and took a crap on his laptop keyboard. He was so mad, and I secretly want to know which cat did it so I can reward them...

This. Isn't pregnancy awesome? DH and I went to a BF class yesterday (so romantic) & were told that BF makes your body release oxytocin and when you have the sex, it also releases oxytocin so your nipples will leak all over the place. DH lol'd. So lovely.
@SweetMamaJune@ahernandez16 he's always whining about something for a little bit at night, but then he usually hops up in bed and cuddles with me until he gets tired of being punched by baby.... Lol. He curls up in front of my belly as if he's already protecting her. But he's being a douche and I really just want to lock him in the bathroom tonight. Oops!!
dh has had food poisoning and there is a container of shit in my freezer right now, and two more in a bag on the counter. And guess who has to take it to the dr tomorrow because I'm off and he's not. Happy Valentine's Day!!!
@VikingGirl12 Oh man, I feel for ya. I had to do the same thing for DH just days after we returned from our honeymoon. Talk about being thrown right into the reality of marriage, haha!
@DeePaddy24 idk what's worse, having to do that for your husband after just getting married, or that he (must have?) had food poisoning on your honeymoon! Ah!

@PBear93 I had a lot of time to kill at 2am- LO woke me up with crotch kicks. I'm a FTM so there's no sleeping through that!
I hope you ladies are staying warm! It's -4 here in Ct. Bleh, no thanks, I'm staying in!

Animals can be such douche bags.
